We had a lovely time during our getaway from the big city. The staff was very gracious and all the little touches to make their guests feel welcomed did not go unnoticed.

I stayed at the Audubon Inn for three nights earlier this month to focus on a work project that required sustained concentration. The Audubon Inn fit the bill perfectly. Its solid construction meant that there was no noise from the restaurant and bar downstairs when they were open or from the housekeeper’s vacuum cleaner during the day. The small-town location meant no traffic noise. The room was immaculate, well supplied, and spacious, with everything in good working order. Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. Although I adored the whirlpool and the comfortable mattress, the real luxury for me was that the room included a DESK and straight chair. I have researched most Wisconsin B&Bs and inns for a room that has someplace to put a laptop — this is the only one I have found. The owner and all staff I encountered were gracious and accommodating. I had an amazing dinner at NOLA, the New-Orleans themed hotel restaurant, one evening(the restaurant is closed some days during the off-season but there are good Italian and Chinese restaurants less than two blocks). NOLA was good enough that I will be returning — the blackened catfish alone is well worth the drive from Milwaukee. Mayville itself is a beautiful town. There are quiet neighborhoods just behind the hotel for an early morning or after-dinner walk and there’s a pretty park at the south end of town, about a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Of interest to owners of Tesla and other electric vehicles: the inn has three charging stations for electric cars.
