Great barbecue in a small town! Hope this place stays afloat for years to come because I would love to return.

Our group of 13 ate here on April 23, 2016. Everyone raved about their meals and not one of us had a complaint. Food and service was quick and super friendly. Be sure to try the Chocolate Suicide dessert. Oh my goodness!!! We were all happily stuffed when we left and sure will eat here again next time we are in the area.

Ate here and found the food to be amazing. Food was fresh, moist and tender. Best barbecue I had on the east coast. And the staff and owner were really nice! Definitely will return here the next time I’m in the area. And don’t forget to get Key lime pie, as it was amazing

Certainly worth a visit if you are in the area. Great food, friendly service, and a fair price. They bring amazing homemade chips to your table when you sit down, yummy! Drinks are served in mason jars. I had the ribeye with sides of cole slaw and mac&cheese. My husband had the pulled pork with cole slaw, pole beans, and scalloped potatoes. The ribeye was well seasoned, cooked to perfection and juicy. The pulled pork had a delicious, smokey flavor. Delicious homemade bbq sauces were on the table, but the pork was so good on its own, they were unneeded. The coleslaw was unique with little bits of apple that gave a wonderful sweetness to the dish. The mac&cheese was a bowl of creamy cheesy goodness surpassed only by the scalloped potatoes. The pole beans were delicious and reminded me of the beans my mom made when I was a kid with beans fresh from the garden. We finished our meal off with their amazing key lime pie, rich & creamy. The slice was huge so we were glad we were sharing.

A great find near our cave diving spots! Huge portions, very friendly service and good value. The house made chips on the table are fresh and have a great spice, almost ate the whole basket. Everything is house made and fresh. I had the scavenger sandwich, a pound of pulled pork, beef and chicken on Texas toast. I couldn’t finish it and I’m a big eater. Kids had the pulled pork and turkey sandwiches. Huge selection of sides, great Mac and cheese and slaw. Took our key lime pie to go. House made, tasty and huge! We will regulars when we are in the area.

A real find in small town North Florida. We were just passing through, and it happened to be lunch time so we stopped here. WOW, what luck! Service is fast friendly and helpful. Fresh sides are what is in season, prepared simply and deliciously. We both had the brisket sandwich on garlic Texas toast. The brisket was tender, moist, and sliced nice and thin. The flavor was perfect, and their three homemade bbq sauces each uniquely complement the food. Lunch was so good that we ordered a slab of ribs to take home for dinner. Their aroma filled the truck for the next hour and a half, reminding us not only of the tasty lunch we had just eaten, but tantalizing us to pull over and dig right in. Once we got home, the ribs definitely did not disappoint. Smokey, tender and a generous portion. We couldn’t have been happier with our new find. Now I am looking for a reason to travel through Mayo again real soon.

My cave diving buddies and I are so thrilled to FINALLY have a place to refuel ourselves after a long cave dive or a few dives in the local springs and/or river. Tumbleweeds smoked BBQ ribs, meats, chicken, and seafood are well seasoned and prepared. You can see the pinkish red ring of smoke on each rib… mmmmm! Lunch plates comes with one side and dinner plates come with two sides. There are plenty of sides to chose from: baked beans, cole slaw, collard greens, side garden salad, Mac and cheese, grits, fried okra, sweet potato fries, pole beans, etc. Their scavenger sandwich or platter(a favorite among my hungry male dive buddies) has 1 lbs of assorted meats in an order. On the weekends, their seafood whiteboard specials of grilled, or fried, shrimp, crab fingers, catfish or mullet makes the decision process painful as not only do I have to forgo their delicious BBQ meat offerings, I have to now select among their seafood offerings. Save room for dessert. Their pecan pie, key line pie, Apple pie, and peanut butter pie are just a few of our favorites. The wait staff is both friendly and warm. Wanda runs a good operation. When I tore two muscles in my calf at Peacock Springs, I insisted on still going for BBQ. When I showed up at Tumbleweed, Wanda brought out a towel and a ziplock bag filled with ice cubes so I could ice my calf as I enjoyed their BBQ. Triage and restaurant, talk about one stop convenience.

Had an excellent lunch at the smokehouse today. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich and I had the brisket lunch. Everything was cooked to perfection, good smoky BBQ flavor. Service was friendly and attentive. Key lime pie is also a winner. Would highly recommend this place if you are passing through Mayo.

A late Sunday lunch had us traveling through the small town of Mayo. We stopped in and were well pleased with our waitress’s helpfulness and efficiency. Crab fingers, hush puppies, brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, macaroni and cheese side, and fries were top notch. The soda and sweet tea kept coming. The owners were friendly and ready to talk. The crabs were fresh off a boat up in Panacea. Ready to return to this restaurant soon to explore more of the menu.

We live in Miami, but every time we go to North FL we eat at Tumbleweeds — ithey have the BEST, MOSTDELICIOUS ribs and fried okra I’ve ever had, anywhere. The okra is even better than my homemade and that’s saying lot! It’s right on the Main Street through town and you’ll be sorry if you eat anywhere else in Mayo.

Stumbled across Tumbleweed while traveling from Gainesville to Perry. Happened to be open for breakfast. Homemade sausage, fresh eggs cooked to order, home fries, felt like I was at someone’s home. Great food, very friendly. Will be back for dinner next time we are in the area!

Located in downtown Mayo, the food at Tumbleweeds is exceptional. The owner indicated that the barbecue was really good and she was correct. At lunch they have daily specials that looked tempting as well. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a local restaurant that is not to be missed!

Great place, hearty food! Stumbled across this place while passing through town, and as I was walking up realized that it was past it’s closing time. Just then, the owner appeared and said she’d re-open the place for me. Wow! Can’t say I’ve had that courtesy before. The food was excellent — the chicken was juicy and the ribs had a nuanced flavor to them, while the sauces at the table were so good I couldn’t choose between them. I ordered baked beans and coleslaw, both of which more than passed muster and had a personal homemade touch. My only regret was that she didn’t have anymore sweet tea, but as the place was already closed when I rolled in, I certainly can’t complain. Hopefully I’ll be able to try it next time I’m in the area.

The first review of this place appears to be incorrectly starred. This place is awesome & I would go out of my way to just to eat here. The BBQ was flavorful and plentiful. The scavenger is incredible and includes beef, pork, & chicken. Sweet tea served in a mason jar is the best idea ever(not to mention its a quart size and they serve it with a side pitcher of tea)!!! Unfortunately, they aren’t open on Mondays ;(;(;(
