Used to go there all the time until the cashier wrongfully accused me of trying to run some type of scam with my debit card. Then she tried saying that I didn’t have money in my card. Someone else had to step in and resolved the issue on THEIR end. At the end of it all I didn’t even get an apology. Very unpleasant experience.

This neighborhood institution is great for a quick fix. The food is not gourmet by any stretch of the imagination but no one goes here looking for that. Food: They are open for breakfast, lunch and early dinner. The portions are big and sharable. The prices are okay too. There is not a lot of flavor or layering of favors for that matter. Grits are good though, I add cheese when I go home. Parking: It might be hard to find parking at the front of the restaurant depending on the time of day that you go. There is parking in the back. Take a right at the post office. Please be smart and don’t leave valuables(including small change and GPS) within view. Eco-impact: If you are environmentally conscious, you will not like the exorbitant use of styrofoam and plastic.

I’ve been driving past this place on my way to work for years. Finally made plans to meet a friend for breakfast this morning. Glad I did. Free 2-hour parking out front and there were spots available. Ordering at the counter was polite, quick and easy.(be prepared for a few questions because you’ve got a lot of options, they seem eager to make it your way) It took a few minutes for the food to come out, but they were getting some decent foot traffic, both for eat-in and call ahead take-out. I had a sausage and cheese omelette with wheat toast and a side of corned beef hash. The omelette was very good. And large. I couldn’t finish it and that’s unusual for me. Plenty of large sausage slices in there and a good amount of cheese, but not overloaded. The hash was excellent. It was steaming hot and came with a bit of a crust. They put it on the plate and then put the omelette over it, so it stays hot. Two of us had full breakfasts for about $ 21. It’s not fancy, but you know that going in. It’s exactly what you’d expect and done very well. I’d definitely go back. I like the idea of calling in a breakfast order and picking it up on the way into work.

My husband and I have been going here for years, and have never had a bad experience. Excellent food, excellent service, and although not cheap, the portions are huge. My only con is the seating area– it needs to be updated.

I used to love Brother’s when I was younger and grew up eating there on sundays after church. However within the past year or so something has seriously changed. Brother’s seems to be struggling with how sanitary they keep their work area. None of the workers wear hairnets and I have been there multiple times when I have seen and heard of people finding hair inside of their food. They also do not wear gloves, though they will touch money, ur food, and the dirty rag the wipe they counter with. … They also leave a slab of butter out on the counter where flies and money has been touching often times using the same knife they cut the butter on a meat or whatever they need to cut at the moment. The entire restaurant looks un kept and is lacking cleanliness. I have noticed they have trash and junk just sitting where people eat and behind the counter where they serve food. I have also seen a food servicer sneezing and not even attempting to wash his hand. All of these things are visible to me and it just makes me question whats going on behind close doors where the food is being prepared.

Mom and pop place with great food and great customer service. The place is really clean and the tables are spaced out, which I prefer. They give you tons of food! I ordered the salmon cakes and grits, which came with a side of wheat toast and it was really good. I loved that they put the butter on the side so I could decide how much I wanted to put on. I don’t live here, but I would definitely go back.

I like neighborhood joints — places that are locally run and owned, serving a local community, with little pretense or flash. This is one of those spots — where people meet for coffee and, and have been doing so for a long time. It’s a hangout, a landmark, and the perfect place to meet for breakfast — whether you’re hungry or not. It’s a bit silly to make too much of a breakfast spot’s food. Unless the place is awful, it’s hard for a restaurant to turn out a bad breakfast. Eggs, toast, coffee, grits, potatoes — as long as the place is reasonably well run, and the food pretty fresh, what can go wrong. I’ve had a few breakfasts here and they’ve all been fine — maybe even excellent. The portions sure are large — and the food is hot and tasty. What more could you ask for? Yes, I suppose if you want an artichoke/sun dried tomato/goat cheese omelet you might look elsewhere. But, frankly, if that were on the menu I don’t think it would fill my bill as a neighborhood joint. In a sentence, I’m eager to meet my friend Elliot here for breakfast next week.

hello, I am James Dancy. I taste food all over the world and i think if you are looking for good food, then look no where else. Brothers has been around for years. Clean, fresh food, customer service is good, but the taste of the food is excellent and exceptional. This didn’t just happen, it was past down through family roots. They all can cook. So go there and enjoy. Tell them that james dancy sent you from Jimmy Dancy Jr. Enterprise

My aunt’s boyfriend put me onto Brothers for breakfast. There french toast was light and fluffy, didn’t taste the egg; the spicy sausage is my FAVORITE, and I have been satisfied with them since, for breakfast. I had a friend come from North Carolina in April and he loved their fried chicken wings and sweet tea! He even asked to bring him back when he visits! They are nice with taking and placing orders and the servings are decent as well.

I’ve grown up eating breakfast from brother. The food may be a little different than it was before, but when I want a good breakfast I choose brothers. Pros: the home fries are always good and flavored. The breakfast sandwiches are delicious. The bacon is always crispy how I like it. The staff is always friendly no matter what! Cons: the wait. I honestly wouldn’t mind waiting for the food if everyone else waiting wasn’t standing around complaining about how long the food is taking. 15 minutes is NOT a long time to wait for food. But, with that said, they probably should have some stuff already made like tons of pancakes, french toast, and eggs ready to just send out. But they make all breakfast fresh so if you want your hot breakfast HOT, you gotta just be patient. All in al, I love brothers. Good food, nice people, and cheap… Can’t really go wrong.

Brothers is AMAZING! THe food is good portions are HUGE, and the people serving DON“T have an attitude. The daily breakfast specials are spectacular. I have been going here for YEARS, and have NEVER seen what these folks are complaining about. Don’t let biased reviews throw you off. sign up and judge for yourself!

Why did I bother? 6 yrs ago when my scrambled eggs had shells in them i knew then. Brothers is gross. But today I was so hungry and with nothing else open I told myself everyone deserves a second chance. So I said a long grace. And wished for the best. And this was a prayer that just couldn’t be answered. Not only was the chef cooking without gloves or hair net and the front woman using her tongs to pick up bread AND the order up bell… I also found a thick short black hair in the middle of a very dry, over cooked, flavor lacking, and highly over priced omelet. Seeing how I’m already at work and unable to go back at this point I called to let them know. And just so you won’t wonder … They don’t use gloves because the heat will melt them. And they are suppose(suppose) to wear hair nets. But she will let management know. *eye roll and PLEASE save it* … Don’t waste your time or money.

So I’ve been a HUGE fan of Brother’s for a long time, but up until last night I had only eaten there for breakfast. We got dinner from there and I was SERIOUSLY disappointed. I got the fried chicken platter with candied yams and collard greens. The chicken was completely bland, no seasoning ATALL… not sure the candied yams were actually yams and they looked and tasted more like dry mashed sweet potatoes with zero flavor. The collard greens were just as bland. I would still go there for breakfast, but NEVERAGAIN for dinner!

Back in the Day Brothers was known for its breakfast. However, this place extremely fell off. I would not eat here if you paid me. Not only has the quality in the food fell off. The people that go here fell off. I never seen soo many crackheads in one place.

I’ve lived in the Boston/Mattapan area since the mid to late 70’s and Brother’s Deli has been there as long as I can remember. The portions are huge and the service is friendly. I’m not overly crazy about the blandness of many of their dishes, but if you have high blood pressure then this is the place for you(lol)! Overall, you’re getting reasonably priced, simply cooked food… and a lot of it. Lunch and early dinner is better than breakfast(my opinion). Definitely worth patronizing — its a local business who has served the community well for years!

After complaining repeatedly to friends in the area about not being able to find a local breakfast joint in my new ‘hood, I finally tried Brother’s, which had been recommended numerous times. WOW! This is some goooood eatin’, lemme tell ya! Scrams w/cheese are good, bacon isn’t too crispy, GRITS are the bomb, etc. They also have good ol’ soul breakfasts, if you want ‘em, with catfish, salmon cakes, livers, etc. The place is HUGE, plenty of seating, well lit, CLEAN, and the staff actually wear uniforms and(gasp!) HAIRNETS!!! They are fast, and the prices, while not cheap, are reasonable for the amount of food you get. They also have an extensive lunch and dinner menu, ANDTHEYHAVEEXTENDEDTHEIRHOURS– they now close at 6PM!
