Amazing!!! Portobello panini was perfect! And the falafel was probably the best and freshest I have ever had. Considering taking the 2 hour drive just for this great meal. Can’t say enough good things about this place.

Every single item I have tried here is delicious. The Happy Buddha and the wonton soup are my favorites. Their cakes are really good, as well. The red velvet is my personal favorite. Although the food is great it is a bit pricey and they nickel and dime you for everything. If you want a little extra sauce there is a $ 2 up charge. Hence the 4 star rating instead of 5.

After three times going I’m convinced this place will always serve high quality. Love the Kung Pao fusion and the Spicy Cha Cha. I’ve also been told the portobello panini is excellent but I don’t eat mushrooms. Wish they had one near Jerse City!

I am obsessed with the food here everything on the menu is good but the happy Buddha is my favorite. My father is not a vegan/veg and took a bit of my happy Buddha and had no idea it wasn’t meat until I had said something! Even if you do eat meat I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with the food here

Didnt get to try the food because they were sadly on their lunch break. I ended up buying a carrot cake, berry cheesecake, and a passion fruit bubble tea. I fell in love with the carrot cake and passion fruit bubble tea. Cant wait to come back and try the food.

I don’t think I’ve ever eaten at a vegan place and this was my first soy patty. I thought it was pretty good. I actually went to get a pedicure a few store down and saw this restaurant as I was leaving. When I looked it up on Unilocal and saw it got four stars I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Heavenly Grilled Panini. Soy patties on grain bread, mushrooms, sautéed onions, arugula, avocado, with a chipotle sauce. I had asked for them to leave mushrooms off but they didn’t. It was still goo. The soy patties were slightly tough, but not sure if that’s normal or not. The bread was so soft and tasty. Sandwiches, rice dishes, and noodle dishes come with a free small soup, just at lunch though I believe. The soup was pumpkin mushroom. I didn’t eat the mushrooms but I tasted it and it was good. My mom ate the whole thing and thought it was absolutely delicious. I’d definitely want to try this place again! A little pricey but figured it would be. The inside was so nicely set up with a corner of books and mags to grab if you want a read while eating. The place was dead, literally no one there, but it was also only almost 11:30am. After telling people about it today though they said they have been around for awhile so they must be doing well!

I do love this place and dine here often! My go-to meal is the raw kale salad and I’ll have the soup of the day. The fresh soups are fabulous! They put these incredible straw mushrooms in the soups — they are very tasty. The spring rolls are out-of-this-world! The desserts are all sugary, but they do have raw chocolate which is pricey($ 3 for a small piece) but helps the sweet tooth. It’s a pretty place and very clean. They’re fast and give great service.

So delicious! I had the Yum Yum Wonton soup– it’s addictive! I ordered the philly cheese«steak» to go, but tried a piece before I left– it was not bad at all, but the cheese didn’t wow me, the«steak“part was good and even seemed too close to the real thing. Highly recommend, and will definitely be back.

I’ve been wanting to try this place out for a while and i am SO glad i finally did. If you’re vegan/nonvegan looking for great comfort food with reasonable prices– you have got to try the loving hut. I came here with my family today(none of them are vegan except for me) and we all loved the food and the exceptional service. Some of my favorites were the soy protein strips(tastes a lot like regular chicken nuggets), mozzarella sticks(tastes better than the real ones imho), the loving hut burger(sooo filling and delicious), and the cheesecake for dessert. Their portion sizes are pretty big and most of their ingredients are organic and natural! I have to give this place a big thumbs up. My stomach is so happy & full :)

Very very interesting but delicious. First time going vegetarian and I can dig it. The place is great. Very quaint and comfort. Very clean. Staff are wonderful. The good was outstanding. I had vegetable noodles with mushrooms and a bunch of other stuff. It hit the spot and the price is right. Definitely check this place out.

Went there and got a soy patty sandwhich and my friend got fish and chips. The fish and chips were good however the soy patty was horrible and hard to eat. We also got coconut cake which was good. I would not recommend this place. It smelt like smoke and was dirty.

Taking away a star bc the last two time’s I’ve gone, this noodle stir fry has been lackluster. Overcooked vegetable noodles and the vegetables don’t seem as fresh. Also there’s been less in the container. They used to fill it.

Love this Loving Hut. Not only is the food delicious, but the smoothies are AWESOME! Everything is delicious. And, it’s all vegan. My go to spot when I visit Matawan.

Love this place! It’s cute, and the foods are vegan. I had vegan fish and chips, I couldn’t tell it was not fish! The avocado banana smoothie and canolie was also very good. Def revisit soon

I’ve been a vegetarian for 12 years, vegan for almost 2 – just saying that so it doesn’t seem like I’m giving them grief for the wrong reason. I went in here because I’ve heard good things about them and think it’s awesome that there is even such a thing as a worldwide vegan chain. The hostess and waiters were so incredibly happy, attentive, and friendly! The place was spotless. I feel bad that I even have to give this place such a bad review, so rather than recounting the entire experience, I’ll just cut straight to the food. 1) Summer Rolls — Pretty hard to screw up and they didn’t screw them up. They were fine. 2) Veggie Tempura — I admit that my expectations might have been skewed because I’m used to Japanese-style tempura, but the breading was thick, soggy, and had a weird heavy seasoning. They serve it with chipotle mayo, which I thought was strange, but even if you can get past that the mayo was kind of chunky. No. 3) Udon noodles with veggies — The noodles were gummy(not chewy like they’re supposed to be) and the sauce was flat and had an unpleasant aftertaste. The vegetables were cooked well and there was a good variety. The«soy protein patty» tasted like a fried piece of leather. I’m not a huge fan of meat substitutes but I’ve had some that I’ve liked – this is not one of them. 4) I got a free soup because of a lunch special and it had unidentifiable chewy bits of what was I think was trying to be ground chicken. I gave it to my friend, who liked it. 5) My friend got a falafel sub with sweet potato fries. I LOVEFALAFEL and have tasted a lot of the good and a lot of the bad… but this wasn’t even on the spectrum. It actually pissed me off how bad it was because there are trillions of good falafel spots in NJ. I get that some of the recipes are probably standardized for all of the franchises all over the world, so there’s not much control, but I don’t see how anyone anywhere could think that’s a good(or even acceptable) sandwich. I don’t mean to be so dramatic but JESUS I almost felt dirty afterwards. Really a waste of ingredients, time, and money. Even the sweet potato fries weren’t right but I’ll give them a C. Like I said, the waiters were great and the place was squeaky clean, but I was so disappointed here that I can’t even give them a second chance. There’s no way all of those dishes were just flukes and I caught them on a bad day. From an ideological perspective, I respect what they are trying to do, but if non-vegans think that THIS is good/standard vegan food then Loving Hut is really doing everyone a disservice.

Vegan version of SAD fast food. Service is bad, high school kids except for the manager. Wait staff mixes up table orders & dispatches food to tables that arrive later. Charges extra for a drop of dressing. I only go to accompany family when they go but never voluntarily go. I hope they change their menu to a healthier fresher version.

I know Vegans tend to be super-friendly, but whoa… I was served by quite possibly the sweetest, kindest, happiest girl I’ve ever met when I came to dine here recently. Seriously, did I not get the memo about an ecstasy party at Loving Hut? Oh, but I kid. Clearly there was no ecstasy party going on here because everyone around me was eating their faces off — food, that is. And while there was plenty of water flowing around me, the smiles on everyone’s faces obviously had everything to do with the food and fine service of this very nice Vegan restaurant. This was my first experience to Loving Hut, and as a newly aspiring Vegan, I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I really thought that making the switch away from meat would be miserable, but I keep stumbling upon more and more Vegan and vegetarian cafes that actually serve good tasting food. While I would never try to convince anyone that my falafel sandwich came anywhere close to the taste of a loaded Five Guys Bacon Cheeseburger after a wicked hangover, I did enjoy it quite a bit. Not necessary for this sandwich is the sub roll — way too much bread for a dish that is far better enjoyed with a knife and a fork. I went with the falafel because I needed to try something familiar to me. At the time I dined here, I was only a few weeks into my Vegan experiment, and I had never yet tried seitan or any of those other faux meat-like products, and wasn’t ready to take the plunge. I have since come around on all those things and would probably skip the falafel next time for one of their more interesting-sounding menu items.(A steaming plate of Vegan fajitas that came out of the kitchen looked and smelled awesome.) My sandwich also came with a side of sweet potato fries, which I am normally not a fan of. But they were hot and cooked to perfection, and tossed with the perfect amount of salt. Needless to say, they were gone quickly. And of course, no meal like this would be complete without a freshly-made green leafy vegetable juice. I find these green juices to go down as smoothly as a glass of water. But then again, I was the guy famous for doing picklebacks long before picklebacks became all the rage. If you are enjoying one of these juices, always better to drink them first before you eat your meal. This will allow your body to quickly soak up all the nutrients before you fill your stomach with food.(Yeah, I’m so turning into that guy.) The ambiance of Loving Hut is simple, but it’s bright and clean and very cheery. Plenty of seating to go around. A mural on the wall educates customers about famous Vegans that most people would generally be proud to be in the company of.(Add Christopher K. to that list.) And have I mentioned the service? No joke — the service was great. I love people who have a natural permasmile on their faces, and my waitress was totally that person. I almost didn’t want to leave because I was enjoying our playful banter all throughout the meal. We’ll see if in subsequent trips they can retain the 4-star review. But given the dearth of Vegan restaurants in the entire Central Jersey area, I can already say I’m a fan of Loving Hut and will be back again soon.

What do Bill Clinton, Tobey Maguire, and Natalie Portman all have in common? They are all vegan! How do I know this fun fact? It is posted on the wall in the Loving Hut, that’s how! When I was in San Francisco, I went to a Vegan chain called the Loving Hut. I quickly became a fan of their fresh tasting ingredients, expansive menu, and reasonable prices. Fast forward a month later and I’m searching for vegan restaurants in NJ and the Loving Hut pops up! Who knew they had a location in the Garden State and better yet, one that is only 25 mins away from me! The Jersey Vegan Hut shares a lot of similarities with the Frisco location I was at, which is to say the servers are friendly, everything on the menu sounds delicious, and after finishing your meal, you will feel perfectly satisfied. I ordered the vegan cheesesteak and was thoroughly impressed. It wasn’t quite as good as the one that I’ve had from another Jersey vegan restaurant which shall remain unnamed(you’ll just have to search through my reviews), but it was still good. I was a big fan of this place and would very much like to return if I am in the area.
