Manhattan Bagel Cafe of Mastic Beach

The new owners are friendly and inviting. I come here every morning as a regular. Their bagels are baked fresh every morning as well as the cream cheeses. Make sure you get there early because the place is always packed. Also try their breakfast sandwiches, they are made fresh and perfect for warm weather.

Good bagels I will admit. I tried the veggie cream cheese on a pumpernickel and it did not disappoint. I will most likely check these guys out again.

I have been here on several occasions. The first time, the employee behind the counter (who also had a blue tooth in his ear… while working… is that necessary?) was eating & chewing his chicken wings as he was ringing us up/​touching whatever bagels we ordered. To me that seems unsanitary and unprofessional– Although, I guess it’s only a bagel place, and how professional do I expect them to be? So ultimately it was just gross.
The two other times that I have gone there, I haven’t been impressed. There are a *lot* of teens/​kids/​idiots hanging around the store with their skateboards/​etc. Almost to the point of it being obnoxious. The third (and final time) I went there, I was waiting for my order (one bagel sandwich) for at *least* 20 minutes… The line was unorganized, people didn’t know who was ordering/​paying/​etc. The people behind the counter were nice, but at one point I saw a girl call out a bagel order and when no one came to claim it, she proceeded to OPEN the foil… and actually picked up the top half of the bagel to see which kind of sandwich it was… The hand that she was just using to take people’s money and do whatever else with. Gross, again :/​
I won’t be going back there… The bagels were good. But I can go to Best Yet and get $.50 bagel, and they pretty much taste the same (minus the chicken wing after taste!)
