Swensons Drive-In

I’ve had burgers in Canada. I’ve had burgers in Portland. I had a burger in France. I’ve even had the fabled double-​double from In-​and-​Out. There’s only one true champion of burgers in this world. Somehow, someway, it’s here, in Ohio, and it comes in form of the Galley Boy.

I love Swensons! 9 times out of 10 they’ve been right on. There have been times when someone didn’t change the grease and the usually great onion rings were bad. Lately it seems they are skimping on the sauce on the Galley Boy. I hope that is not a trend. Otherwise all is good. Great drive up place. Love the Xango dessert. The Galley boy is a better sandwich than many of the fancy sit down burger restaurants have in my opinion. Everyone is usually friendly and tripping over themself to get your order.

Galley boy is best burger I ever have had. Shakes are good. Only downside is the fries. I useless get the fried mushrooms instead

I didn’t grow up around here. Typically people who grew up on a restaurant seem to have magical memories of places and rate food better than it really is. That being said, here we go…
I’ve been here twice now. I highly recommend the Galley Boy burger. It’s a double cheeseburger with two different cheeses and sauces.
This place is a drive-​in and all the workers literally run back and forth from the cars. It in itself is neat to watch.

Swenson’s is one of my fav places! If a friend or family member comes to visit I always take them there. Always friendly and quick never had an issue ever. Love their fries!

I’ve heard nothing but good things about this place so i finally decided to try it. Was craving a burger so i got the galley boy. I didn’t like it at all. Pretty much a mcdouble with different sauce. Wanted a real burger and this reminded me of fake McDonald’s meat.

You will love their burgers. Secretly they put butter under the bun. The cheese is delicious and the milkshakes are great. It’s good for kids because of their smiley fries but aren’t they healthiest, in fact they are the most unhealthiest in America. Price is just right and service is great. So glad to have a Swensons in my area.

Always delicious. Burgers are great and I’d recommend the potato teezers as a side. They also have good drinks and milkshakes. The service is always friendly and usually pretty quick. Sometimes I crave it haha.

Worst service ever !!! Sat in the car for 10 mins while 4 cars came in ahead of me ! Ended up leaving !

I’m glad Swensons is in Ohio, because if I lived any closer I would be at fat camp right this minute.
We decided to stop at this particular location because of the positive reviews. It didn’t disappoint. We pulled into a shady parking spot and a server was at our window immediately. We ordered two galley boys, fries, a mint shake and a PB shake. It only took maybe 5 minutes for our food to arrive to the car and we dug in. Oh. My. Gosh. That galley boy… it was like unicorns stepping onto dew covered glitter grass with the most perfect breeze blowing by. Absolutely delicious. The bun was perfect, the burger patties were seasoned to perfection and cooker well, and those galley boy sauces complimented the rest of the burger so well. The fries were good but the galley boy stole the show. And those shakes… amazing. Creamy, smooth, full of soft flavor. Loved everything about this visit.
Service is excellent, food is delicious, ambiance is dependent on how clean your car is.

I grew up in Akron, so I’ve been to my fair share of Swenson’s! In terms of taste, I’m not going to tell you anything you don’t already know; it’s absolutely delicious, and you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. I always get a double cheeseburger with mustard and ketchup, and that seemingly simple burger is extraordinary!
This location, however, had especially attentive and friendly service. I remember commenting to my companion that «our waitress looks SO excited to work here!» Great service, even when it was pouring rain.
I would definitely return to this location and, if you’re in the area, I’d like to echo some of the other sentiments expressed here; you should definitely visit Swenson’s!

The thought of a galley boy alone makes me shed a tear if happiness.
This is a old school, drive in style restaurant that features burgers, fries and shakes. Not everything they make is great, but what they are best at they do incredibly well. All the shakes are fantastic, all the burgers are fantastic and I like getting their tots too.
Must stop in canton/​Akron area. You won’t be disappointed.

Everyone who joins Unilocal in this area should immediately go to Swensons and slap down a 5 star. This is what this area is known for.
I grew up on it, as an adult, I ventured out to the rest of the US and have tried many many burgers. Odd that In-​N-​Out gets soooooooooo much praise for being family owned and refusing to franchise.
Swensons is the same way. They cannot spread their area because they deliver the meat fresh daily (from Michigan).
Now that I’ve set the scene, let me tell you that Swensons burgers are the best I’ve ever had. Period. Everytime I eat a burger, I question where it ranks in my top 10. I just moved back to Canton from Los Angeles. I had a Swensons burger, and knew that was it. People swear by the galley boy, but just rock a cheeseburger for flavor. Taste the burger, the bun, and the sweet heavenly joy that fills your mouth. This is a burger that you do not need to over-​do.
I travel a lot, and use Unilocal to check out local places, often times for burgers. My only wish for this review, is that it catches someone doing the same thing, and that this review pushes you to go try this out. At that point, my Unilocal life is complete and I can bask in the glory of satisfying another burger aficionado.

I always make sure to stop by here when I am in town visiting my family. 15 years later, the Galley Boy burger is still top notch.
And the shakes are decadent, too. Even though I’m lactose intolerant, I still get a shake from here. The pain is worth it.

Not too many places these days were you can get service to your car. My date and I went this summer on a POURING down evening, but their staff was still prompt to the car with friendly, quick service. Gotta give props to their high energy.
Food was yummy… good «diner» food… veggie burger was delicious with generous toppings. Milkshakes are fabulous… I recommend the PB or mint choc. shake!
