Just moved to the area and looking for the best pizzeria. Well we can rule this one out instantly. Ordered a few things to get a sample: chicken parm hero, lasagna, minestrone soup, garlic knots. First it came with a salad of brown lettuce. The garlic knots, even if they hadn’t been stale were still nearly flavorless. The minestrone was canned Progresso soup that they poured into a takeout container and had the nerve to charge $ 5 for. My husband thought I was exaggerating so I opened a can from my pantry. It’s Progresso. So at least that tasted ok. The lasagna was just a noodle topped with a gray meat substance topped with a layer of mozzarella and a ladle of sauce which tasted like canned sauce. My husbands chicken parm was bland and made with bad jarred tomato sauce. We will never go back.

The food here was really bad. The vodka sauce tasted like normal sauce that they added heavy cream to. The service was lousy and our server was nowhere to be found. It was nearly impossible to get a refills on drinks. The only good item was the calamari.

My husband, Dan, and I have been going to this casual, homey restaurant since we moved to Massapequa Park in 1988. I believe their Wednesday pasta special was $ 5.95 back then. We love that and their Monday chicken deal, both of which include salad, dessert and coffee or tea. The wait staff here is always, unfailingly kind and attentive, and the food is superlative, whether I order my favorite chicken Parmesan or their luscious linguini with red clam sauce. They also have excellent garlic knots, some of the best I’ve ever had. Warning: They are addictive. The only reason I don’t give this restaurant a full five stars is because they only offer one dessert – New York cheesecake. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great cheesecake, but I like a choice of desserts, and they don’t offer anything else with the Wednesday/Monday specials. Otherwise, Giovanni’s is a great place to eat fine Italian fare. Giovanni himself, the owner, often visits your table and shakes your hand. Mangia!

Giovanni’s is a great hometown resturant. Giovanni greets you at the door like a long lost friend and makes you feel at home. The portions are generous and priced appropriately.

My favorite place in the Massapequa area! They always have a great selection of slices and everything is always fresh. The staff is extremely personable and very friendly. The restaurant part is very quaint, it’s perfect for a casual dinner. The portion sizes are good and all items are reasonably priced. If you don’t see something you are looking for they will gladly make it, same thing for dietary substitutions or allergies. The food itself is delicious and made to order, I have been going for years with my family and friends, we have never been disappointed. Check them out for pasta night, you will get salad, pasta dish(tons to choose from) and cheesecake for $ 12.95. Doesn’t pay to mess up the kitchen! Plus you will probably bring home a doggie bag :)

I think the owners are the best part of this place. So very nice and friendly. They want to be sure you have a nice time. The place is more of a pizza place than a restaurant. Beer and wine only, no bar. The food was tasty enough, not great. Salad with blue cheese dressing, the dressing was definitely from a large jar of premade dressing. Had the Chicken Sorentino which was ok, very salty(and I love salt) and although listed as having a Marsala sauce there isn’t a big Marsala taste to it. I would definitely recommend it for a casual night out as a step up from a pizza place, but not a night out for a good Italian meal.

The shrimp alla burina, the best I’ve ever had. Order a whole wheat pizza snack when you get there. If you want to be bad. A++. Giovannis is a hidden jem…

This place is a local gem. The owner makes you feel like you’re coming to his house for dinner and I swear my Italian grandmother is in the back doing the cooking. His pizza is the best east of Brooklyn too. Prices are affordable enough to make this a regular bistro and specials and prix fixes are excellent.

This is the worst Italian food I ever had! I ordered the pasta combo and the sauce taste like pizza sauce, the lasanga taste stale and under cooked. The cheese was nasty. The fried calamari was mushy and disgusting. I spent 40 bucks and threw the food out. What a waste

I am actually pretty disappointed. I was looking forward to having lunch at this place for a bit. I was craving some slices and was able to convince my sister to come along, it was just a bonus that she paid. The entrance was a bit awkward, but that’s no big deal. We opted for getting a couple of special slices and splitting. Upon entering and seeing the slices, nothing really popped out making me feel the need to order it. What we ended up with was 3 chicken slices. Chicken alla vodka, honey mustard chicken, and some sad excuse for a buffalo chicken slice. These 3 slices plus 2 bottles of soda came to a little over $ 17. Not great, but not terrible. The pizza was cold when we got home, and we live 2 minutes away, so there was no excuse for that. As for the slices, they were all meh. The most offensive was what they considered their buffalo chicken slice. No buffalo sauce, a drop of ranch(why not blue cheese?!) dressing, and an over abundance of over fried chicken. It was horrific. The chicken on all of the slices were cooked to death and sauce was lacking on every single one of them. They got 2 stars from me because I enjoyed their crust. It was like a thin pan pizza crust, which I like. I may potentially try again on a pasta night or something, but I will go elsewhere for pizza.

Been here two or three times. The staff is very friendly. Their speciality slices are pretty good, the bbq slice, alla vodka. The regular slices are just eh though. For a regular slice, go down the block to Gino’s. Will come here again.

I can only attest for the pizza here, and Giovanni’s is some of the better pizza you’re going to get in the area. The sauce they use is rich and basil flavored, the crust is soft, yet crunchy. Absolutely delicious. «I don’t eat pizza very often, but when I do, it’s Giovanni’s.»

So far I’ve only tried a couple slices to go from Giovanni’s, and they were good, not great slices… I feel like its better to judge a place on a full, fresh pie. However, I don’t know when that’ll be. Their slices were tasty, they’re not far from my apartment, and the service was great, but I still prefer my usual place. Hilights? They do solid sicilian and grandma slices. Also, the staff was great. Not so hilights? Pepperoni garlic knots. Too much garlic doesn’t let any of the pepperoni come through. I’m a big advocate of trying new things, but once you find the one pizza place, the one that knows your order better than you do, the one that knows your name you come in, the one that knows about that sensitive spot right in the crook of your elbow… I mean, how well done you like your pizza… you lock that down.

The owners/staff were very friendly. I like it when the owner takes the time to stop by and ask about the service and food. We had two individual Pizza’s. They were both very good. We also shared a Caesar salad that was very good and definitely enough for two to share. We also took home the equivalent of a whole Pizza from the left overs from our 2 individuals pizzas. The seating area was casual but nice. It was nicer than just your everyday table and chair setup on tile that most Pizza places have. It had an almost capacity crowd from 6:30 to 8PM. Nice evening. I would definitely go back to try out their dinner menu. What we saw looked good. Their portions were generous.
