My family and I had a great time at this place. We had a large party and was accommodated nicely with our reservation. I ordered the chicken fajitas which were truly delicious and satisfying. My husband ordered the Don Juan special which unfortunately didn’t live up to its name because the portions were too small for the price. He was still hungry and was expecting more from the dish. I’d say if you come here, try any of their fajitas instead because you do get your money’s worth and it’s simply delicious. The margaritas were yummy too considering I’m not a tequila fan. The mango margarita isn’t as strong as the black and blue margarita so if you want a really strong drink, go for the black and blue. At the end of the evening, we received tequila shots on the house which was totally awesome. Considering we were a large party of 20, the tequila shots were very well received. Overall, I’d come here again for the great service and friendly staff. Thanks Don Juan of Massapequa for giving my family and me such a great evening!

Excited for a night out of true authentic Mexican food was cut short very quickly from painfully disappointing and terrible food. Half the things we wanted they were out of which is pretty comical since the restaurant wasn’t even busy, but we still decided to dine and see if they can make up for the let down of options Unfortunately it didn’t get better, after following the waiters recommendations of authentic Mexican choices we were shocked that a authentic Mexican Waiter would serve such a disgrace of a meal. Missing all the Mexican key ingredients of goodness we decided to cut the night short and just cut our losses, which before the bill came we could just say the night was a dud and the restaurant choice was poor but then the bill was completely over priced for a appetizer and one meal. The cost of the meal was shocking, they paired a terrible meal with a expensive check what a surprise. I’ll Tell you what doesn’t pair up any so called affiliations they think they have associated with Mexico unless it’s Mexico giving Don Juan lessons on cooking and possibly helping them find a supplier to stock up on options of food for future customers. the chances of that are slim to none which is the same for us ever going back. The last thing we said when we walked out was Ay dios Mio it’s over in excitement.

Not sure why other review was scratched? I’ve been here on several occasions and I always have an awesome experience. Very friendly service, waiter Andy knows our drinks before we even sit down. Suggest sitting at bar during Happy Hour!

Expensive but good. Light on the protein portion of the meal.. Too many rules. Party of 520% tip. Two baskets of chips per table. I live within a mile but probably won’t return. Substituted chorizo for steak and they increased fajita combo price by $ 4! Supplied four pepperoni slices as you would receive on a pizza. Obvious gouge. There are a lot better Mexican joints around. Adiós!

Been here 8 – 10 times. Service is friendly but not do attentive. Im not one who cares about that though. The food is ok, i have had the chimmichangas, tasted like the frozen kind, they were eh, had the guack, it was as well just ok. They should use red onion in it instead of white imo. I have had the enchaladas a few times, they were ok. Had the app sampler, nothing on it was good at all. Nice place inside they need a new chef. Not horrible but not good, just ok. Wont be back again sry.

Visit Date: October 18, 2015 Since I went to the Long Beach location of Don Juan which I absolutely love I had to see if their massapequa location measured up. So hubby and I went on a Sunday night to check it out. It was just okay, although the food was the same as the one in Long Beach the one in Long Beach is better than this one. This location has a more elegant atmosphere than the one in Long Beach does, the one in Long Beach has a more fun atmosphere which I like better. I always get the vegetarian combination platter #32 on the menu. Here they gave me more guac on the tostada which was appreciated but the rice and beans didn’t have the flavor that the long beach location has. Overall the Long Beach location is much better and for Mexican closer to us hubby and I will stick with Mango’s.

The Staff are all friendly and helpful. Our waitress recommended we start off with the beef empanadas and WOW were they DELCIOUS. We each had a combo platter and everything on our plates was YUM. My little guy adored the black bean soup as well as the staff joking around with him. We finished with the Flan and that too was delicious. I would definitely recommend the Sangria. I tried both but I like the white a tad bit better :)

Went on a Saturday around 5pm. We got a seat right away and asked to move to a booth, they obliged with no problem. Server, Andy, came right away with chips and salsa and took our drink order. He returned with drinks and we placed food order. We got our food in a timely manner and it was great. I had the quesadilla and my wife has the fajita. Steak was slightly tough. Portions were great. Andy was very attentive. He checked in us several times.

What happened to this place??? What was once a nice dinner out with good food and great atmosphere has become sub-par at best. Our waiter, although very personable; was inadequate. We were greeted quickly, and served our drinks in a good amount of time; however, we were never offered another beverage. My daughter had to walk up to the bar to get three glasses of water. We ordered some queso to go with the chips and salsa that never arrived. I ordered the beef empanada appetizer, and was given chicken ones. I did not realize until much later that they were wrong because they were served so hot, out dinner entrees arrived at the table before they were cool enough to be edible. The entrees… my daughter ordered the chicken enchiladas with sauce on the side and no beans; and was served the traditional plate including the beans and sauce on the enchiladas. She found two large pieces of grizzle from the chicken in one of the enchiladas, and then a large piece of chicken bone in the other. My husband ordered beef and shrimp fajitas with CORN tortillas, and was served flour tortillas. When he asked for the corn again, he was given the flour ones again! In addition, we ordered a meal to go for my daughter’s boyfriend at work. It was on a separate check(she asked to have it that way), but the check read $ 23. and her credit card was charged $ 29. The waiter never returned to the table after running the credit cards, so we had to have the bartender adjust her bill. This evening seemed to be a total comedy of errors… and an expensive one at that. Dinner for three people cost $ 93. without any gratuity… I will not be returning to this establishment again.

So I tried this restaurant again since my extended family decided to go there and it is close to home! Since the owner/mgr replied to my Unilocal review I decided to give it a whirl… I was glad to see that the service was somewhat better than my last visit, however the food was not! Seems like the food has gotten worse than better… Will not be returning… I’m sorry.

Nothing overly special about this place, just a generally good restaurant for Mexican food. It can feel a little cramped when seated in the middle of the hustle and bustle but the staff is very accommodating and courteous. The margaritas are good and they have a nice selection of tequila. The menu is large with lots of options so it can take a little while to read over and decide. I ordered the chimichangas and they were delicious. They’re deep fried but don’t make you feel overly full. They were busy on the Friday night that I was there but we were seated almost immediately when many other places around town had long waits.

Don Juan’s is seriously delicious. I’m a big fan of hot sauce, and there’s is on point: spicy, thick and flavorful. I could eat the salsa with a spoon. It’s so yum. The steak is tender and seasoned well. The rice and beans are fresh! And the guac is no joke. If you haven’t checked out Don Juan’s, you definitely should :)

Pleasantly surprised by this place. Not sure why I was convinced we were going to be disappointed, perhaps it’s because we usually are when it comes to local Mexican restaurants. We had reservations for dinner and were seated right away at a nice centrally located table. One of the first things that caught my eye was an old Mexican movie being projected onto the wall. It was unique and added something special to our dining experience. Anyway, I don’t usually drink, but I had a jalapeño margarita and it was pretty damn good. For dinner I got the shrimp fajita and it was kinda the best one I’ve ever had. Everything was just really flavorful. Overall we had a very positive experience. It’s clean, nice décor, staff are polite, and food was delicious. Yes I suppose it’s a little pricey, but it’s comparable to other Mexican restaurants in the area, just with way better food.

Gives complimentary salsa and chips to start. Drinks and food are expensive. The amount of meat they put in the fajitas is definitely not worth $ 20 plus. It should probably cost around $ 15 but they seem to keep rising the prices every year which is why I rarely come here anymore. The food is tasty though. I have had their flan which is good but is small for the price. It is a nice place if you don’t mind wasting a few extra dollars for your meal

This place is terrible. The food is way too overpriced and the quality of it is not good. I’ve never seen quesadillas that look like burritos. They tasted okay but nothing like quesadillas. The waiter was very nice, even though he rarely came to the table to see if anything was wanted or needed. Not a good Mexican spot. I’ve had better Mexican takeout.

Went for the first time tonight and will definitely be back! While it’s by no means cheap we enjoyed everything we consumed. Started with the standard chips and salsa. Very good. Had the made at the table guac. I am guac snob… I only like my own homemade guac and this ish was legit. Coming from a pro. That’s great guac. I also had the jalapeño margarita which wasn’t as spicy as I would have wanted it to be but it tastey and not so sweet. Which was a good thing. I enjoyed it. Husband had the mole chicken. I’ve had mole sauce before but eating this made me think I had never really had real authentic mole. This sauce was sooooo good you could real taste the cocoa. Amazing highly recommend. I had the chile rellenos. The sauce on these was tomato based and also very very good. Cheese was fresh inside. I loved it. Both dishes came with sides of rice and refuted beans. I loved the beans. I think they were better than other places I’ve tried. The rice was spanish style and also a great accompaniment. I can’t wait to return!

Drinks are overpriced. Luckily I was the designated driver. Glass of wine is $ 9.00!!! Menu is not cheap, but food is good. All 5 of us in our party loved our entrees. Service was very good except for the fact that it took about 10 – 15 minutes to get a basket of chips when we first were seated. Lively atmosphere and friendly staff.

Maybe we ordered all the wrong items but honestly we weren’t that thrilled with our food or drinks, but nothing was inedible. The margaritas tasted like sour mix, maybe they were just too heavy w some special syrups they use but they strayed from the traditional triple sec, tequila and lime. No bueno. Shrimp ceviche wasn’t much shrimp and really I wouldn’t call it a much of a ceviche either, sugar tomato soup served in a stemmed margarita glass. Platanos were fine, maybe could’ve been hotter but this passed by as fine. The stuffed avocado was really just avacdo and mayo and some hot sauce. Nothing to write home about. Not for the faint of mayo heart. Err I think their starters need some work maybe the main dishes are a better alternative but the lack luster margarita alone was enough to think twice about returning. Décor was nice and service was great, but everything else needs work.
