Many many serious golfers in Indiana will tell you this is their favorite golf course in Indiana. It may be mine as well. Why? It is just beautiful. The course used to be an old country club course located in the valley created as the White River meanders through southern Indiana. As you go south from Indianapolis toward Bloomington and beyond, the typically flat terrain of the state becomes progressively hilly. Martinsville Golf Club has a hilly feel, but also benefits from the serene river valley setting. There is a lot of wildlife, many ancient trees, butterflies, birds, creeks with frogs, all in an area that seems set off and remote from the rest of the world. However, it also retains some of the faded grandeur of its country club past such as a classic clubhouse with a shady porch, vast trees, an uncrowded feel and some huge, holes that haven’t been pretified by unecessary artifices. The holes on this course are so distinct, challenging, and memorable that if you play it, like me, at least one of your favorite golf holes on any golf course will be here. Best of all its open to the public and around $ 25 for 18(walking).
