Very sad to say that The Village Café has closed it’s doors. We just moved here a year ago last July and this was our new favorite breakfast place in the area. Great food and great people behind the scenes. We miss you!

I love this place but I’m pretty sure it’s closed down for good. They have the sign up but there’s nothing inside. Too bad :(

Cash only and I don’t know about you but when I’m eating the last thing I want to smell is sewage and/or cleaning supplies. Strong smell of pine sol/bleach the whole time we were eating. Not to the management: clean once you’re closed not an hour before. Other than that, the food is fine/average diner fair. May or may not be back.

Service was ok, food was ok. I ordered berry pancakes, which I assumed meant they would go in the pancake, they just throw a half dozen berries on top. The bacon chocolate chip pancake I give props to. It wasn’t amazing, but good concept.

This is my family’s go to spot for breakfast and lunch. We discovered this place a while back and immediately tried it and we have never been disappointed. The food is always fresh and delicious. The fruit always seems ripe. It is never too heavy or greasy like some breakfast/lunch places. I think the portion sizes are perfect; my family loves to eat and we don’t feel guilty adding an extra biscuit or pancake on the side. I have never left in a food coma. The staff is consistently pleasant and never complain if our children spill once or twice(or 3x) during the meal. My family favorites are: pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream, the breakfast burger, lunch burger(yum), and the breakfast burrito made with french fries as the potato in it. We are so happy to see The Village Café doing well!

Wife loves to eat here for breakfast but to me it seems rather average. Not bad but not great. Will likely keep going but if it’s my pick, there are other good breakfasts in the area.

Bacon chocolate chip pancakes! My boyfriend and I enjoy coming here for breakfast. The staff is always warm and friendly and the food is simple, but delicious. The menu is a bit small, but I feel that each menu item was chosen carefully, offering a good variety tastes to satisfy any breakfast craving. I love supporting local businesses and Village Café is one of my favorites when it comes to breakfast.

We discovered this place through Groupon, and since then, it had become our favorite brunch place! We’ve gone here so many times and we always come back. There’s nothing fancy about the interiors but service is good and fairly quick and 100% sure the food is always fresh and oh so delish! I personally think their Ahi Tuna Melt is the best and as well as their California Burger(or at least that’s what I think it’s called) haha. Chicken fried chicken/steak is really good too. Great breakfast/lunch diner! This place is a hidden gem!

PROS: Food was very good and fresh. Staff was busy yet very very friendly. CONS: Service speed was a little slow. They should have more cooks in the back. Observed waitress ringing up customers, touching face, pants, and then immediately start toasting bread without washing hands. Employees should really re-wash hands anytime they touch money/face/credit cards. This is a new business so I am willing to forgive these issues and come back again. As I said the food was great and super fresh!

The service was not great. I had to ask for silverware. I had to ask for a refill on my coffee. The food was okay but not good enough to return. No one asked if there was anything else I wanted. In fact, no one even talked to me.

Great little diner. All the dishes I’ve tried here have been pretty good. I enjoy the diner atmosphere with the 50’s music and the very friendly staff :-) The pulled pork sandwich I had today was great. Excellent crispy pulled pork inside on a soft bun!

Great little café tucked back in the corner of a strip mall. They serve really good breakfast all day long which was perfect for my dad who wanted breakfast at 12:30. The owner was our waitress and she was amazing. Try the home made potato chips with their burger, amazing.

Not too sure what to think. A few friends love this spot and I’m kinda on the fence. Coffe cups were very small and the poor waitress refilled my cup at least 6 times during my time there. The menu is kinda hard to read and scattered all over the place. Portions are kinda small for the price but the staff is very nice and upbeat and the place is very clean.

Used to come regularly when it was CW but it really sucked the last few years… fresh décor, fresh attitude… I am building my own omelette and using Groupon deal, with biscuits… biscuits good, omelette good…4stars

Stopped in for breakfast after morning workout. Greeted and seated friendly and efficiently. I ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich with pepper jack cheese and my boyfriend had the corned beef hash. Mine did the job, only complaints were that the tomato was sliced wayyy too thick so it just kept slipping out every time I bit into it and that the cheese was processed and not melted onto the sandwich very well. Also, I smelled a strong chemical smell the whole time I ate which was unpleasant but I would rather it smell overly clean than be dirty =] All in all prices are great for what you get. We will be back to try the breakfast burrito… so many choices!

Village café is a breakfast and lunch restaurant which caters to any dietary restriction but mostly to those who love meat and eggs. Don’t worry they also offer oatmeal $ 5.25 and Grilled Vegetable Sandwich $ 9.00. The décor is nothing fancy; actually they really don’t have any décor. It’s more like booths, tables/chairs and a bunch of «Village Café» apparel hanging on the wall(if you purchase and wear it you get a % off your meal). It’s a nice place to meet up with a friend/family member, just to catch up since the place is not very loud. Back to the food. The oatmeal is just your standard Quaker Oats type. They also give you brown sugar, cranberries and milk on side. I wish they included walnuts that would make it even better. The Grilled Vegetable sandwich was ok. It did lack in seasoning but the Portobello was grilled well. I think if they added avocado to this, it would turn ok to amazing. You know everything is better with avocado. My lil man meat eater had the chicken fried steak, scrambled eggs, hash brown and toast $ 10 and he enjoyed it. Be aware it was a lot of food. So, if you like your eggs and meat, give this place a try. You get more bang for your buck at least with the chicken fried steak not sure about the other dishes, but they also offer«build your own omelet» Speaking of bang for your buck. They offer so many deals. Go to Groupon check under«nearby». Unilocal has a 20% off check in offer and a $ 30 for $ 40 deal you can buy. So if you come to this place and don’t have a deal then you really are not tech savvy and you’re missing out. 3.5−4 stars place for meat eaters/vegetarians and a meet up spot 2.5−3 stars for vegans(at least they try to offer vegan eats which is nice)

We used to come here often, back when it was Country Waffles. Within the last couple years though, every time we went, we’d say something about how both the service and food was going downhill fast and eventually we just stopped going. Then BOOM, they were gone. I was excited when Village Café opened in it’s place. They got rid of all the country décor, a definite improvement. Too bad prices are high, food portions tiny, and taste is lacking. I wouldn’t be surprised if Village Café goes the way of Country Waffles and shuts it’s doors sooner rather than later.

My Martinez list is slowly growing. Growing because of wonderful little places like this opening up in my town. I’m happy because this café is located on my side of town now. I was sat promptly at lunch time, in my very own booth. I’ve never been in this location when it was the other restaurant. You could tell they made some upgrades. You could smell the newness. It’s also deceivingly large inside. The staff was so nice. I was helped by a waitress and a woman who I think is the owner. They were both great to every person who walked in the door. My lunch of choice was the Classic Club with Fries on Sourdough. All of the ingredients were fresh and crisp. The fries were cooked perfectly crunchy. Then to make my lunch all the more enjoyable was the discount I got from checking in. I didn’t know about the discount before I came. So it was nice when I checked in to get the discount. Nice service, yummy sangwich and a discount. Wow! You can’t go wrong. I’m coming back again and again for lunch.
