Martinez Bocce Federation

I love bocci! The MBF rocks. We have played on team now for 13 years. Bocci is played at the Martinez Shoreline Park 6 nights a week. They also have a senior league I believe that plays in the afternoons. Teams are made up of 12 people whom the Cappo recruits. There are different levels of skill (A league, B, BB, C, CC). New teams will have a hard time getting a week night. 3,000 people play bocci here. This year we have all new courts & balls. I think 16 is the youngest a player can be. But people bring the kids and the dogs.
Once your team is formed and your night secured place your game schedule on your fridge and then once a week all spring and summer long, pack your icechest and meet your team at the court! Once there. open a bottle of wine, spread out some snacks, GRAB YOUR BALLS and play.

So, growing up in Martinez, or just living there as an adult-​you cannot escape it. Believe it or not-​sleepy little Martinez is the home of the largest Bocce league in the US! Bocce is played on 20 courts 6 nights a week-​so if you aren’t on a team you certainly know 15 people who are. it is a little town reunion, a fun game and a great excuse to BBQ and drink with your pals. I have wanted to get into it for a while, and am having such a great time with it so far.
