The food wasn’t bad but wasn’t great either. All I ordered was a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon on sourdough. Plenty of bacon I just wish there had been more cheese. The french fries weren’t very good, taste like the oil in the fryer needed to be changed. I was shocked at how many people were there at 11:20. I will go back and try something different.

This place is very disappointing. I ordered chicken strips and they gave me a steak after they fucked up my order they said they would fix it then brought me toast. This place can suck my friend Jacob Smiths ass

Food was excellent. Service was okay, but the beginning was awkward. There is a line to wait for a table but there’s no designated waiting area and we stood there for a good 20 minutes before any staff acknowledged us, they just sort of leave you there until there’s space to seat you.

I usually come here for breakfast or lunch since they close at 3pm. The food and service is pretty good. It’s the best place to get breakfast in downtown Martinez. I like the eggs benedict and the strawberry waffle. The dining room is small. They get extremely busy during lunch hours. If you come between 11:30am-12:30pm be prepared to wait for a table.

We have eaten at this downtown location many times. The food is your normal breakfast/brunch/lunch fare and offers fairly large portions. The food is always fresh and tasty. We have also found that prices are very reasonable. They offer good burgers, sandwiches & salads, good tasty omelets, and lots of standard egg/hash brown/sausage or bacon/pancakes etc. choices. All of which are solid well made menu items with large portions(we usually always leave with a doggie bag). So far we have no complaints about any of the food here, and plan to keep it on our rotation of breakfast choices when dining out. The place is located in a cute, converted old building in downtown Martinez. It has a couple of levels and there are lots of tables throughout. The décor is almost borderline«dated» but the wood design(the walls and ceiling) is beautiful CSC does get busy and there is usually a wait on the weekends but given the sit-down restaurant choices for breakfast in the vicinity, it’s worth the wait. During the warmer months they also offer outside seating. There is street parking available and a back lot with a convenient back entrance. However we must point out that there are a couple things that prevented a 5 star rating; 1) The unfortunate part about this place is their limited hours. They’re only open for breakfast and lunch, which is okay if that’s what ya’ want! Martinez could use another«basic-American-style-food» place in the downtown area for late afternoon and dinnertime hours. 2) While the Hostess is great, the waitresses seem to be hit/miss at times. They provide fair service(meals hot, silverware clean etc.) but. none seem to provide an extra-smile or conversation or take any type of «love» for their job or the place they work. It’s odd, I get the same impression from the owner. BUT it’s not prevented us from eating there, as no one is mean or rude, it’s just an oddity as I said. Unilocalers can eat here with confidence as CSC provides good solid food at a reasonable price. :-)

A total greasy spoon without the grease on the floors(yay!). And that is a compliment. We all love a good old greasy spoon but this place is a step above with huge portions. I am definitely a fan and will be back again. I

People working there super nice, really seemed to care. Spinach omelette — I think it had a pound of fresh spinach. Place was full, I was a single diner, I got a booth, didn’t have to wait. I thought that was classy. Very mainstream traditional place — this is not a hipster spot. But I loved my omelette, which was served with three different hot sauces. And in the bathroom, the tank for the toilet is high up on the wall — straight out of 1920. Loved it. The Copper Skillet is like a survivor of another era — it’s not some national chain. It’s an old-fashioned breakfast place. But with good food, and lots of folks eat breakfast there on a weekday.

My husband and I just had breakfast here. We were in a bit of a hurry but I didn’t have to mention that to anyone. We got there at 11 a.m. we were greeted immediately with a smile. Our order was taken promptly by our server Aileen and the food was out quickly. It was delicious! I had the eggs benedict, everything was cooked to perfection and I could tell it was made with quality ingredients. My husband felt the same about his huge omelette. It was a perfect visit. We were finished and had our check all by 11:30! Our server was friendly and attentive. My husband and I now have a favorite breakfast place to visit often. Thank you for great food and great service!

Excellent breakfast in this really cute, modernly decorated space. The food was really good. The wait staff was friendly and fast. The price was right. The atmosphere was upbeat. For a packed house it was pleasantly quiet. I love when I can hear the people I’m sitting with :)

I’ve gotta take this review down to a 3 star. It’s been a long long time since someones asked me to leave so they can make a table available for someone else, and it happened here. We ordered food and drinks and weren’t at the table for an extended amount of time. Guess if you want to spend any time talking after a meal, this isn’t the place to do it. Finish you food and promptly leave.

Cute little breakfast joint in downtown Martinez. It’s just unfortunate that it’s so in from the freeway you’re literally driving out of your way to get here and with that said, it ain’t worth it. Although they provide you with a satisfying meal like their tasty omelette, there’s really nothing for me to keep wanting to come back. This is your standard breakfast joint with a comfy warm feel inside and good service.

What a wonderful little place this is! I had heard about it from friends and family and finally had a day off to go check it out. Great service, great food! The waffles are delish and girlfriend had the split pea soup! Even her daughter liked it, and you know how kids are! Lol Home runs – orange pomegranate mimosas(didn’t know they serve alcohol)! And the tater tot heaven is what it says! Heaven! Can’t go wrong with tots and bacon! Mm mmm! Inexpensive, clean, and a friendly staff! Will be returning very soon!

So I’ve been here two times in total and I have to say both times were disappointing. The most recent makes me never want to go back. First I get to the restaurant and stand at the door for over 20 mins, during that time not one employee came up to me to let me know about the wait time. Adding to the fact that I felt like my business didn’t matter; the waitresses had a very sour look on they’re face. We finally had to hunted down an empty booth and ordered, the food took way to long for a couple sandwiches. It was decent but at the end when it came time to pay the waitress snatched the money out of everyone’s hand and went to the register. It would have been a better experience if the employees were actually nice and didn’t completely hate they’re job there. It’s just not a positive atmosphere if you don’t mind being treated mediocrely then this is the place for you.

This review had been a long time coming. I was 86ed from this place for finding hair in my food. Let me explain. I am a long time Martinez resident and regular bruncher. After Victoria’s burned I started splitting our weekly Sunday brunches between Barrel Aged(please come back!), Tapatio(still a regular), and(reluctantly) Copper Skillet. I must say that the wait staff and hostesses were fantastic! The«chef» and his son(?) are the sort of people you’d expect to see on Kitchen Nightmares. One Sunday, after having dined there for about a year, I came in with my teenaged daughter and her friend. We were sat upstairs, ordered my usual mimosa, a $ 1.50 side salad, and our brunch plates. Halfway through the salad I noticed hair(several of them) in the ranch dressing. When our server next checked on us I quietly pointed it out, politely refused another salad(we still had food coming), and really thought no further about it(shit happens). A few minutes later I was visited and questioned by another server(confirmed the hair). Moments later the chef/owners? son? Came to the table and asked about it. I confirmed that there had been hair in the ranch. He immediately went on the defensive telling me that it was impossible… both the salad and the ranch come in sealed containers(so much for freshness)… no hair could possibly be in either. He offered me another salad, I declined and assured him it was no big deal, and he offered to take it off($ 1.50) the bill, which I gratefully accepted. After accepting this unsolicited offer the guy launches into a tirade about how this would never happen again, I was a problem customer just looking for a free meal(in the year I’d been dining there I’d sent cold eggs back once — no asking for or receiving $ off. And once asked for crispier hashbrowns for which I was shouted at by the cook — again no $off). At this point he’s getting loud and I am both embarrassed and angry. He accuses me of planting the hairs(in a $ 1.50 side salad!?)… my response was«Are you serious?! Is THIS how you run your business?» At which point he told me «Get the fuck out, you’re 86ed!» Fine by me. I love Martinez and support local business but I have to say that I’d love to see a proper brunch place come in and put these assholes out of business.

Nice breakfast! It was really busy which is a good sign. Its a nice little place. its a apparent though that the waitresses stick more to the locals. so service takes a while. My country fried steak was good! A little bit cold but I was hungry. The the breakfast burrito was really big. I’ll be back some time. Mabe

This place is purely amazing. Great interior decore with an upstairs seating which I personally love the most. The staff is very friendly and able to serve large weekend crowds with a breeze. Thier food is mouth watering. I love that there is such a great breakfast place in downtown Martinez. I’ve been here a few times and my fiancée and I will be back a few more I’m certain of that!

The Copper Skillet is a cozy little restaurant where I happened to stop for breakfast before my train ride home to Sacramento. I was in the mood for a home style skillet breakfast and that is exactly what I got. The service here was extremely fast as I was seated as soon as I walked in the door. As a family owned and run restaurant it was nice to see that all the employees were related to each other and really cared about the customer service they provide to the public. I ended up ordered eggs over easy with home style potatoes and a side of biscuits and gravy. I was looking for a quick meal that would hold me over for several hours. The eggs were exactly how I liked them with a bright yellow yolk perfect to dip my biscuits. I was given 3 types of hot sauce; Chalula, Tabasco, and green Tabasco. I didn’t even have to ask for the hot sauce as the waitress must have noticed the«I need hot sauce for my eggs» look on my face. Lastly I must mention The Copper Skillet’s mimosa special(see photo) and al fresco seating so you may enjoy watching the world go by while you dine.

The Copper Skillet Courtyard is the perfect restaurant for rough-and-tumble old town Martinez. The part of town north of the trestle has barely been gentrified in the last 50 years, it’s like you’re back in the 1940s, and Copper Skillet fits right in. There’s not a lot to distinguish it from other homestyle breakfast-and-lunch cafes. They serve the usual — pancakes, omelettes, sausages, sandwiches, burgers, even a few healthy choices. Their prices are normal too. Décor is old-timey on wood-paneled walls. Specials of the day are written on the whiteboard. What sets it apart is the same thing that sets Downtown Martinez apart: you just would not expect this in the Bay Area. Yet here it is. Are you in Martinez CA or Concordia MO? Family lunch on Presidents Day. I saw why there was little foot traffic on Main Street: they were all in here. I told my wife, «I guess that means the food is good, eh? We’ll find out.» Yep, it was good. Me: the Martinez Burger, an entrée that gets five stars on its own: ½lb patty, green chiles, jack cheese, and bacon on toasted white bread. It did not need any Tabasco sauce, and I did not add any. The hunny: chicken fried steak sandwich, with a steak as big as my half pound hamburger. This Texas native loved it, and got stuffed. The girl: the usual. Grilled cheese sandwich. She liked hers too. No one finished their fries. This is a place for me to take the in-laws next time they visit from the Lone Star State. It’s also a place to get some good diet-bustin’ homestyle grub, like you’re stepping back in time a few generations.
