Good service and decent prices. I would choose this place over other similar restaurants in town. The server we had was really good making sure our large group was taken care of.

Dissatisfied with the food and service. Was there with a group and one of us wanted to pay for friends that were sitting across the restaurant. Server said we could because the other server wouldn’t get her tip. What?
I ordered the special, prime rib wrap. It couldn’t have had more than 2 ounces of meat. I at ¼ of it and when waitress picked it up I told her about it. Said she would mention to the owner. Got our bill and no adjustment. I left and then called and talked to the owner Tim and he said that he had other complaints too and would have to check on it. That was it. No offer to make it right. I do not plan on returning to this place for a long time. Very unfortunate because our town needs restaurants like this. I hope they can improve not only food and service but how they react to customer complaints.

Went there twice last week. First off, kudos for having shiner bock on tap. Secondly, had a sirloin salad. It was excellent. Good atmosphere courteous staff and plenty of sports on tv.

Food was just okay. Service was slow and worthless.
Ordered the «Rocket Chips» based on the servers description, and recommendation. Fresh house made potato chips. Sounds good, except when served cold and soggy. Like each portion served at my table. Server never came back to check how everything was, and then even ran to the back kitchen area when the table next to us dumped their drink, instead of running to her aid.
Will not return.

Went in, ordered a beer and my meal. Beer came fast, but I sat for 45 minutes and no sign of my meal while many others received theirs. Got disgusted, put my cash on the bar for my beer and walked out before my order came. I hope they ate it, literally and figuratively. Poor excuse for service. Will NOT be returning. Oh, one more thing, the men’s bathroom was disgustingly gross, smelled like everyone had pissed on the floor — as though it hadn’t been cleaned for a week. Poor excuse for a restaurant and I would NOT trust those reviews saying it beats Legends. Those were probably written by the owners to bash their competition. I’ve been to Legends many times. They leave Calvin Rockett’s in the dust. Eat here at your own risk. #disgusting#poorservice.

Better than Legends, better than 13^th Street, but the service isn’t always the greatest. The food is great though. And they have an ok beer selection.
However we bought coupons from a high school booster club, a few were for the rocket. First we were told we couldn’t use them after 3pm, then we couldn’t use them on a Sunday. Nowhere on the coupon are stipulations printed — big pet peeve — other than that it’s a good option for Marshalltown

This is an amazing restaurant. The food is magnificent, and knowing that it’s a family owned local restaurant makes it that much more special. It’s got a friendly atmosphere, and the food is something that you just can’t get anywhere else in the area. From bar food to fine dining, this place has pretty much all you could ask for. It’s got the quality you’d expect from a downtown metro establishment, but finding it on the main strip in Marshalltown, it seems like a nice oasis from the fast food chains in the area. I’d recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. And if you’re a local, you probably already know what a great place it is to dine. Some of the items are a bit pricey, and the portion sizes could be bigger, but all and all, a more than decent establishment.

Iowa girls would love to be as thin as this ribeye sandwich.
Overnight stay in Marshalltown. Asked Hampton Inn front desk for steakhouse/​sports bar. They directed me here.
Sandwich served open faced maybe ³⁄₈ inch thick. Tried 2 appetizers and finished them both off. Portions not very big, especially if for more than one person.
Decent draft selection for small town bar/​grill. Included Shiner Bock, Blue Moon and Fat Tire along with domestic regulars. Good selection of bottled beers as well, domestic (12 choices) and imports (14 choices).
Ribeye spandwich, couple 22 ouncers, and 2 apps with tip left me $ 50 lighter out the door.
Wait staff was friendly and attentive.

Better than Legends, that’s for sure. Good food, and it’s locally owned, which is important to me. The atmosphere is so-​so. They often don’t have the TV’s tuned to the highest demand sporting events, and the music that they play of the speakers is usually horrendous.

Uh, no. Not a fan at all. I was here for a work event. We were in the upstairs bar area. I was told they had redecorated recently by a local… It was nice and warm and comfy. Where this place fails is on the food. The fried pickles were soggy, the fried mushrooms underdone, the French fries practically raw and the list goes on. I dunno, I’m not a Midwesterner but this is what I call bad food.

My son and I are gluten-​free and very sensitive.
We always order the GF pizza and have had many very good experiences. Always request they utilize a new container of sauce and utilize new utensils. They are always able to accommodate this and we have never had any issues.
The taste of the GF pizza is very good and the toppings choices are great as well.
Highly recommended for GF pizza!

Grew up in Marshalltown but moved away over a decade ago. Come back quite a few times though. Back in the day this used to be the Thunderbird and then it was Fields Sports Bar and Grill. For those that remember Fields, the layout is pretty much the same. It’s a little more updated, the bar area is pretty nice. Several TVs were scattered around the place.
Stopped by on a Saturday evening around 6:30. The place was pretty full. Apparently they don’t have a host station so all the tables and booths are «seat yourself». Nothing was open so we found two seats at the bar. Beer was a little pricey for domestics ($ 4.00 a draw).
Their menu is typical bar/​grill fare. Fried appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, generic pastas and the like. I opted for the wings with their special double hot sauce that isn’t listed on the menu. Wing sauce and flavor were excellent, however this is one of those restaurants that serves the dinky wings that have no meat on them. 12 wings here is the equivalent to 6 – 8 wings at many other places. Really a turn off especially since they charge roughly the same as other places with bigger wings. My wife got a side order of beef nacho fries, which are basically nachos but they sub the chips out for fires. For $ 3.00 those were a good value and she really liked them. I also noticed the people next to us ordered the breaded mushrooms and they were big cut strips of portabella mushroom that were breaded and fried. Kind of regret passing those up.
All in all, a decent place, especially for Marshalltown. A place like this would get eaten alive in Des Moines but being in a smaller town, it should do well.

I went here for lunch with a group from work. It seemed like a fairly typical sports bar and grill type of place. I would compare it to something like a Legend’s or Okiboji Grill.
I had a very good Cobb salad here. Service was good.
