JG score of 5⁄10(+1.5 for food, +0.5 for atmosphere, +1 for price, +1 for Fountain Diet Dr Pepper, 0 for typical service and +1 for we would return) We ate here twice when this was called«Woodlawn General» and now that is gone and this is here. The bookends of our meal were the best items. We started with the meat pies which were very good and finished with a delicious pecan pie. The meat and crust were good texture and the filling in the pie was delicious… we like our pecans more chopped up though. Our entrees of shrimp gumbo with sausage and the Indian Taco were good. The taco was pulled pork with toppings on a fried flatbread. The gumbo was hearty but came with the blandest hot water cornbread I ever remember having. It was a good meal… menu offers other items like grill options or Rocky Mountain Oysters :) The atmosphere was a big improvement over the prior place. Nice seating area with Western decorations all over. It is nice eating way out here in Woodlawn away from the rush of cars. The price was under $ 15 for an entrée and drink but will be more with an appetizer and moreso with a tip. They do have Diet Dr Pepper and even Diet Mountain Dew in a plastic bottle. The service was nice and friendly but they were busy too. We would come back here again sometime.
