A wonderful hidden barbecue gem. The owners are very nice, the setting bucolic, the sauce a good balance of sweet and tangy, and the meat excellent. You won’t be disappointed.

This is probably our favorite place in Marshall. JG score of 9.5÷10(+3 for Doni Beans, +2 for atmosphere, +1 for price, +0.5 for bottle Diet Dr Pepper, +1 for service and +2 for we look forward to returning) Doni Beans are something we crave. They are in our top list of foods we have come across. That doesn’t imply that other foods there are not good either. We have been here several dozen times and have purposely tried everything on the menu and half a dozen things not on the menu but he can make. Doni beans are at the top though= he will put some beans in with a meat(brisket, sausage, etc.) and top off with sour cream and cheese and such and it is simple but delicious. We get these every time. Some other things that are popular are his brisket, nachos with meat(of your choice), BBQ burrito with pico, stuffed meat baked potato, the Bum Phillips sandwich, his Jalapeño Sausage, chicken salad sandwich and also his stuffed jalapeños which do require advance notice to get. His wife also makes some mean pies and desserts including Coconut Cream Pie and Pecan Pie… The food here is thoughtfully prepared and served and is worth several visits. If getting brisket then ask for the moist end. This atmosphere is awesome. He did all this himself. When we 1st tried his food, it was from a food trailer on the loop and he only served maybe 3 – 4 things. Now in this finished out place, it is fun just to come here. Wood all around and a BBQ rough type feel, this place has country things all over and momentos from his time as a Las Vegas singer and such. The prices are good here especially with his generous helpings. They do have Diet Dr Pepper in a plastic bottle only. The service is always friendly. He has gone out of his way to let us try things. I think he learns the names of everyone who comes in. This place is almost a weekly occurance for us.

Best BBQ ever! Brisket is so tender. Brisket sausage sandwich is my favorite. The sugar free BBQ is just as good as the the regular sauce. Baked potatoes are cooked the old fashioned way not gummy, and can top them with any meat. So glad to have a place to eat that isn’t on the other side of town.

Best of Texas BBQ on Bailey Cut-Off in Marshall is on its way to becoming a must go destination for East Texas BBQ. Great brisket and sausage. I didn’t try the ribs but I will when I go back. They just opened recently so they’re still getting a few things set up like the drink machine so I held back one star, but the food is already on-point. The owners are very friendly and fun to talk to and they really enjoy serving great food and putting a smile on their customers faces.
