My wife and I had heard about the Alpaca Full Moon Farm in Marshall, VA, so we decided to stop in. We were greeted by the owners as soon as we pulled into the driveway. They were very friendly. The farm is set on about 4 acres with a small barn for the alpacas where the owner allowed our boys to feed and pet several of the alpacas(their fur/hair is SO soft). There were about 13 alpacas, all of which were friendly and loved to eat out of our hands. Throughout the tour the owner, John, interacted with and entertained our young children by asking them general alpaca trivia questions and providing them basic alpaca facts. We then visited their alpaca gift shop where we purchased some small items made from alpaca fur/hair. The shop is stocked with some pretty cool items. There is a very friendly black lab who loves visitors too. We finished off the tour with cookies and lemonade, courteously of the owners. I can’t say enough about how outgoing to owners were. Our boys were talking about the experience for the rest of the day! Tour are given only on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. I believe the owners have an open-house at least twice a year with the next one in October. Recommend going. The farm’s website contains all the information you could need.

Was a nice quite atmosphere with lots of fluffy Alpaca’s. 14 Girls and 7 Boys; most were friendly and would just come up to the fence for a petting. The husband and wife(I’m guessing) that run this place are really nice, they were very apologetic for repair men that had been doing work at the farm, and for not having fresh cookies out. They also had alot of educational information and color picture printouts of the sheering process. Their farm is open from 10−4pm on Saturday’s, which is plenty of time to enjoy the buck teeth Alpaca’s. As we were leaving I noticed a couple of horses at their fence line. Walked over and was instantly greeted by this huge beast of a horse. Made my day having this awesome horse gnawing at my shirt and pushing up against my head. They really wanted attention. Was gonna give 3 stars but the horses pushed it over to a 4. Might be visiting this place 1 – 2 times per year now that I know about it.
