I don’t really know what kind of review to give this salon. When you walk in the vibe is that of a higher class salon. I don’t mind paying a decent amount of money for services… If I’m getting what I asked for. My hair was a darker brown. I asked for a caramel colored ombré. My colorist told me it would be more dramatic and noticeable. I said yes because that’s what I wanted. False. Literally one side of my head is almost blonde and the other is still brown. I was furious after I saw it, you can barely notice a difference in my hair color. I was beyond pissed. My cut was decent, not exactly what I asked for but nothing to complain about. But $ 240 for what? My hair looks exactly the same as I came in and I don’t even know what the hell I paid for. Another time I came into this salon after my hair had been red. I needed the color taken out and I showed her a picture of what I wanted, actually I think I showed her 3 or 4, I was overly specific. I wanted it to look a natural brown. As soon as it was blown out it was on the verge of DARKGRAY. I told the girl who blew out my hair how much I really didn’t like it and it looks gray and she was rudely defensive and told my I should be appreciative. I was beyond annoyed and seriously pissed that she wasn’t even the least bit understanding. She basically told me off for being unhappy. Overall I’ve been to this salon like 3 times and I really don’t know if I’ll ever go back. I read a review on here today about«feeling like just a number» and that seems pretty accurate. I feel like all this salon wants is your money and really doesn’t give a shit if you like what you’re paying for. I stopped going to my old salon because I moved farther down south in Jersey. I now drive over an hour to get to Suede because the salons in my town are terrible, but I think going back to my old salon will be my next move, even though it’s another 45 minutes out of the way…

Had the gentleman’s escape and all of the people & services I had were excellent. However, it just wasn’t the spa experience that I was looking for. I never spa and was looking forward to some relaxation and stress relief. Suede is a super-busy hair salon with the spa being an afterthought. Their stylists, massage therapist, manicurists and others are all very qualified. But, this place is very busy, very expensive and the least bit relaxing.

Aimee is the best thing that has ever happened to my hair! She’s awesome at both cut and color and always has suggestions if I ask her. I just moved back to the area after almost a decade in Boston and came back to her(my stylist prior to my departure at a different salon), now located at Suede! I thought my hair was good from my stylist in Boston; but now I realize the two don’t even compare! Every time I leave that salon I feel amazing and I get a ton of compliments on my hair from friends and coworkers. I’m a big believer in you get what you pay for and I am NEVER disappointed leaving!

Kristen was FANTASTIC with my facial. My face has NEVER been this clear and felt and looked this smooth. I will definitely be returning to get another one. The reason for the 4 stars is because I also had a massage and it was not my favorite, it was okay but I felt it good have been a little better. Overall though it was nice!

trying to remember why I never returned here to get my hair done and today it all makes sense. I was persuaded by a friend to give it another try and went against my instinct and I should not and will not do that again. Services are mediocre at best, definitley over priced and it does not justify why, shampoo girl shampooed too strong that a huge ball full of hair fell out. I wouldn’t waste my time or money… there are a ton of professional, reasonable and talented salons out there, I would not recommend taking the chance. also clientele are all old ladies 45 and up, makes sense why their services are mediocre.

I have been coming here for years, but was using a Colorist else where. I needed to find a New colorist. The girl who cuts my hair there, Joanna, recommended Dina Rae! She was Fabulous!!! I love my color, I loved her energy, and I am so happy I found a New Colorist to stick with! Joanna, Patty(skincare) and Dina Rae are ALL so awesome!!!

If you have curly hair, you must see SUSAN! She will take the time to learn your hair and most importantly TEACH you how to do it yourself. I followed her tips at home and it worked wonderfully :) She had a 15 – 20 minute consult with me before getting started on the cut, she really listened to what kind of look I was going for, and she honestly gave me the BEST haircut I’ve had in a long time. She takes her time and she always tells you what she plans on doing before actually going at it(which I appreciate). She is amazing! I’ve never had a hairstylist take so much time to address every question. Susan is definitely a warm-hearted individual who really loves what she does. She is also well-trained! I found out she had spent extra time learning how to tame curly hair in New York City and she gladly shared her techniques with me as she was cutting and styling my hair. By the end of my session, she had written down all of the items we had discussed ranging from the type of shampoo I need to use for my hair to a book to read about curly hair. I think Susan is truly a wonderful hairdresser and stylist. I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone who really wants a personal one on one session with a hairdresser.

I recently went here for an airbrush tan. The person providing the service was nice enough but I will not be back for the following reasons: 1. The individual seemed very rushed when bringing me back to the tanning room. I just felt extremely hurried. Personally, I would like someone to take their time when it comes to turning my skin a darker color because I would like a degree of consistency in the tan. 2. The main reason I went here was because the St. Tropez website said this one of their professional operators– they do not use St. Tropez as it turns out. I look orange. I specifically wanted a place that used this brand since it does not turn me orange. 3. The room is small and cramped. I mean really really cramped. There was no where for me to put my bag down, and where my clothes could hang was very close to where they tan you. If you have a received an airbrush tan then you know there is mist that gets on things close to it. Thankfully my clothes were dark but that is absolutely no excuse to have a room this small for a service like this. 4. As I suspected, the rush job of the tan is starting to show. Only half of my face has color. It’s really rather embarrassing. I am concerned what it will look like when I finally shower. I recently read an article on this place and how the owners have turned it around but this was just not a good experience. I will not be back for tanning. Ever.

The haircut I got here was really good, but I was told I was going to be with a junior hairdresser which is 45 dollars but I was charged for seeing a senior hairdresser, which is 20 dollars more and I’m not sure the haircut was worth 65 bucks.

Had I written this review before my latest experience at Suede Salon, I would have given it 5 stars. I loved my stylist so much, which is a shame because I don’t believe I will be coming back after my experience with my colorist. This place is already insanely expensive and the staff there should be happy to get any tip at all after their customers spend hundreds of dollars just for a cut and color. I thought my colorist was really great until she started making jabs at me about different things that were very out of line since I am the paying customer. Then when I was done, she could not care less if I was happy with how the color turned out. She completely ignored me and let me walk out of there with sopping wet hair without even a glance in my direction. When I went to the front desk to pay, the girl wouldn’t even acknowledge me standing there ready to pay. I ended up asking, «is this where I pay» knowing the answer since I have gone here before but I needed to get her attention somehow because standing there was apparently not enough. Once I was done paying, she didn’t even say anything to me when I said«thank you, have a nice day.» I wasn’t sure if the transaction was over at first… After this,(I had already tipped the shampoo girl) I walked over to give my colorist her tip. She looked down at the folded up money and wouldn’t take the money at first. Then she asks«oh, this is for the shampooer?» with this look on her face like she was not happy with me. And I just nicely said, «no, this is for you. thank you so much for your service.» She still did not care how I felt about the color and how it looked. She finally took the money, then turned away and continued coloring her other client’s hair. I am in such disbelief because I thought I had finally found a salon that can do my hair really well and that my colorist and I got along really well, but after this experience, it really bothered me to where I went and asked other hair stylists(friends) how this should have been handled and they could not believe how disrespectful this woman was to me. I am so torn about returning and probably will not after this experience, even despite me having a balance left on a gift card I was given. I really did love it here until this experience. I would no longer recommend.

Let me start by saying I’ve never been to this salon. My mom purchased a gift cert. online for me for Christmas and didn’t notice that this salon is in NJ… I live in Sacramento, CA and go to a salon by the same name. Sooo, I called Suede to request a refund and they were extremely understanding and accommodating. If they provide such great customer service to someone who isn’t even a customer, I can only imagine how great it is to BE a customer. If I’m ever in the NJ area, I’m definitely stopping by. Thank you Suede!!!

I got the new Essie gel polish and Marguy applied it. Marguy is an awesome manicurist that I’ve been using for a few years. The gel, which is supposed to last for two weeks, chipped immediately so I called the salon to tell them what happened since it was a new product. They were happy to help as was Marguy. Ever since this happened Marguy has been very indifferent towards me often yawning while doing my services and talking only when necessay(we were friends). I would leave suede confused and upset. Finally i received an instant message from her yesterday explaining that the reason she was acting like that was because she was angry that I complained about her work. I explained that is was the new product i was letting them know about and not her work which she believes is perfect(no one is perfect). How unprofessional can one be!

Sal has been cutting my hair for many years. He is constantly keeping up with the latest styles. Has the ability to style my hair to compliment my facial features. Sal is a talented hair stylish and as such is very busy. If you need an appointment with Sal you will need to make it at least a month ahead of time. The wait is worthwhile.

I see Nick for haircuts. Even though I’ve moved an hour away, I still come back to see him because I trust his expertise. He really knows what he is doing. He has a pretty strong vision of what would work or not and is comfortable communicating that. I love the results! I also referred my sister to him and he gave her an amazing new hairstyle that complemented her face better than any other style before – looked great! Every time I go to Suede, I notice that all of the stylists have great hairstyles/color on themselves and that each of the clients that are leaving looks great. I highly recommend Suede Salon!

I went to spa with one thing in mind: change. I planned to get [gasp] bangs and boy am I glad I chose this salon. Cheryl A. was absolutely amazing — a bang expert if you ask me. Very nice cut, great attention to detail — I’ll be a regular at this salon from now on! Overall — facility is nice & clean, staff is very helpful, great experience — A+++! Thank you!

Nick is my favorite stylist! Never had a disappointing haircut! Kailene is a wonderful colorist! I was soo pleased with my highlights! Appointments are easy to make. The salon is very busy so if you are running a few minutes late, you will not miss your appointment. Tip: It is proper to give the guy or girl who washes your hair a tip of a dollar or two or as you see fit. Some give a mini-head massage while washing your hair — my favorite part! I always return and highly recommend.

If you want a haircut that will change your life, call Suede and book an appointment with Susan. She’s been cutting my hair(and my family’s) for the past 10 years and we’re all in love with her. She’s a true artist — she takes a lot of pride in her work and makes sure to get a feel for your individual sense of style/preference to give you a cut that perfectly reflects your personality. I now live about 200 miles away but I still drive up to NJ every few months to have her cut my hair. The colorists are just as good as the stylists — Maria R. and Kelly D. do perfect summery blonde highlights. The salon itself is beautiful — hardwood floors, immaculate workstations, and a lovely«serenity room» where you can sit and read magazines until your stylist is ready for you. The prices are about average($ 55 — $ 65 for a women’s cut), but considering the quality of the services, it’s a steal. In short: run, do not walk, to this salon. You won’t regret it.

A 3.5 star experience. This place is pretty high end and very expensive, and not worth all of the money. I came here twice to get my hair cut and dyed a while ago. First of all, the place is elegant, very spaced out and has a very expensive feel to it(for good reason). Since it is also a spa, you’ll hear water running the entire time you’re there, so that’s pretty relaxing. It was extremely busy when I was there, and the wait is almost always 10 – 15 minutes even with an appointment. Now about the service – It was pretty good, I guess. The hairdresser I had was friendly and really wanted to give me the cut/color I wanted, and the haircut turned out pretty decent. It was just the price that really bothered me… and it’s evident why they charge so much is for the upkeep of the whole fancy place. Overall, the job they did was decent, but definitely not worth the price. I go to The Alley now and pay half of what I did here! I’m glad I switched.
