This is one of my favorite restaurants, and I’ve been going for years. The atmosphere is great, even though it was built around 30 years ago, it feels like the 2 hundred year old building it is named after, old plank floors, vintage fixtures, etc. I especially like to go in the winter and sit near the fire, so cozy! The food is consistently good. Recently I have enjoyed the pork loin and the duckling. I am also in love with the bread, which has sunflower seeds in it. Another favorite is the Indian pudding on the dessert menu, it’s something I’ve never even seen anywhere else. And then there is the attached bakery section with amazing cookies to go!

We came here for breakfast and it was so delicious. The staff is great and it had a very nice home feel to it. Definitely would come back.

First time at Sadlers tonight and will be my last. Had it’s good and bad points. Its absolutely a restaurant for a more of a older crowd. All ppl there were age 40 and up. So my husband and I in late 20’s felt out of sorts. The menu is weak not much to choose from. My husband’s a 13 $ steak burger gets no choice of sides and is brought out a small buger with a bag of UTZ chips and a pickle. Like seriously you can’t afford fries and your charging 13 $ looked more like a 5 buck kids meal. I ordered meatloaf was not asked what side I would like plate arrived with a nasty sweet potato which I hate and it was burnt. And a small portion of mixed veggies. Meatloaf was tasty and 2 good sized pieces. I do not feel you get enough for you price and good was justsoso. I will absolutely not return. The waitress I had Melissa was excellent, very on point, quick and very nice. So that’s really the only great thing is the service. The owner was very nice about going. Around to each table and thanking us for being there

Great place. They have a wide variety of food to choose from and they have changing specials all the time. During October, they have an awesome German«Oktoberfest» selection… Food is great, OK booze selection and during the summer they have a great patio with live music outside. Waitresses and manager are top notch and there’s plenty of parking. The inside is nice and cozy during the winter with the fireplace going

A quaint place that I so wanted to like more. I went there tonight for a nice night after some hard days at work. 2 glasses of wine, a beer and two entrees was $ 102. The service was slow and I could have made the same at home. 2 stars for location and imposed ambience. Not on my «return to» list. I’ll stay home for the over priced over hyped dinner served here.

The food was amazing and the service was great! Also the beautiful setting and live music didn’t hurt We live in Colchester but will become regulars at Sadlers!

The atmosphere is great, the prices are higher than they should be for what you get, wait staff is hit or miss and the food is good depending on what you order. I’ve never seen a manager on site, greeting guests etc which is what I would expect for the food price point.

While driving back from the southeastern part of the state we needed a good spot for dinner. There aren’t too many options but we were happy when Sadler’s came up on the list. It has a really great patio and on Sunday’s there is live music. The menu is approachable if not a little mismatched. You can get a mix of light and super heavy dishes and a mix of sandwiches. The wine list is priced right but the beer offerings are lacking. We ordered the brussel sprout and cauliflower salad and also the watermelon arugula salad to start. The sprout /cabbage is super bitter from the vinegar. I almost asked for a packet of sugar to sprinkle on top. It has so much potential — just needs some sweetness. The watermelon salad should really be called an arugula salad with watermelon. It was very tasty but not what we had anticipated. For our main courses we had the turkey club and the lobster roll. Both of these were fantastic. The turkey club is so big that I took half home. And the lobster roll, for $ 15, is a steal. It’s really only lobster which is surprising given the cost. Both are served with slaw, chips, and pickle. It was a great place to stop — and super cute too. I do have to say though that the average age is at least 50 years old. There was a guy wearing a t-shirt that said ‘old guys rule.’ I’m not kidding.

I made a lunch trip with two friends in December. This was the first visit for each of us. There was a decent amount of diners for a weekday afternoon. The atmosphere and menu were warm and welcoming. A lot of comfort food with a gourmet twist. Two of us shared a much overpriced pitcher of sangria before switching to beer. The beer is also overpriced with not many popular options(mostly microbrews). I ordered the lobster cobb salad, which sounded wonderful. I did not ask if the lobster was cold(with mayo salad style, or hot with drawn butter) figuring either way it would be delicious… it was neither. It had a lemon chemical taste. I can’t believe the flavor was intentional. I made one of my dining mates try it and she agreed, it must be bad. I did not say anything. I did not want anything else for the rest of the day. Thinking of the flavor makes my stomach turn now. My two friends both enjoyed their meals and I will give Sadler’s one more try.

First trip, so I’ll save the deep review until after another visit. But I loved this place! Not sure how it took us so long to find it, as we’ve lived in the next town for nearly 7 years and never heard of it. We didn’t think we have to make a reservation at «blue hair» hour, but it was a slow day so we decided to have an early dinner. When we called they suggested, yes… make a reservation. Even at 5:15, the restaurant filled up very quickly, and was packed for the rest of the evening. The service was very friendly, but overall on the slow side, but not unbearably so considering the time of day. We were relaxing, after all. The thing that surprised me most was the décor. Not nearly as kitschy/country as many other have described. It was quaint and New Englandy, for sure. Rustic. But very comfortable and cozy. While the menu had several regular choices I would love to have tried, I selected an herb-encrusted rack of lamb special which was absolutely outstanding. Perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked, with a side of mixed vegetables… it was a standout, to the point that the owner stopped by our table and gave a wink; good thing I got here early, that’s been our most popular dish tonight! I knew why. My wife’s dish was a filet and crab-cake combo, and she was not so impressed. Filet was quite good, but the crab cakes were so-so. Too perfectly shaped, probably pre-packaged. But, as she admitted, what should we have expected? Marlborough is not exactly ocean-front. Still, it seems as if a little more effort could have gone into them considering how good the other food was. We stayed for dessert and coffee, and would have loved an apéritif with them, but no liquor, just beer and wine. Dessert port, though? Overall experience was very good, but as mentioned before, wait times between courses(and in general) were a bit long. Not bad, but could be better. We’ll definitely come back. So many other great offerings on the menu, and a super-friendly small-town cool vibe.

Sadlers is funny to me because I grew up in Marlborough, but never thought to go there. I was just there with my mom while home for the holidays and I think I finally realized why: Being in Sadler’s always feels like you’re eating in someone’s house. Now for many that is a positive, I don’t know why is has always made me feel strange! I don’t let that effect my review though. The food is pretty American(and quite good) which is extremely appropriate considering this place has been around is 1648. Let me repeat that, 1648. The town of Marlborough was basically built around this Ordinary(somewhere people stop through to on their journey), and from a historical standpoint that is pretty freaking cool. Overall with Sadlers, the food is good, nothing astronomical, but it is good and more upscale than the other places in Marlborough. I find the history to be the most compelling part, but it’s pretty dang compelling. Sadlers is a solid stop for some good food and really interesting history!

At first glance this country style barn can be misleading as the good old fashion New England décor and overwhelming color of green on the inside may make you nervous of what the food may be like. First impression after sitting down on the hard wood chair without cushions is a reminder that my bony but should order some meat and not salad lol. Ok… So its not all that comfortable… However The menu right away brought the twinkle out in my eye with the large list of comfort foods like meatloaf and chicken pot pie, mussels, garlic bread… So on Today, they were offering an amazing October fest menu that lists a good selection of seasonal beer and German dishes like bratwurst, cabbage, pot roast and gravy… Etc We shared the Gorgonzola garlic bread as an appetizer which was nice, we did automatically get the raisin bread on the table when we sat which was also great. My husband ordered the stuffed shrimp listed in their regular menu that came with a large baked potato with sour cream, veggies and squash. I had the Pot roast with mashed potatoes and gravy, side of cabbage. Both excellent and perfectly cooked, the shrimp not mushy, its filling was well seasoned. My pot roast nice and moist(sometimes this can be overlooked and dry) but actually didn’t even need the gravy to slide right down. We both loved the squash addition. Not that we had so much room but after seeing dessert come right past my table we opted to try the German chocolate cake. This I was not a fan of as I really wouldn’t call it a German chocolate cake, more less a rum/coconut cake with walnuts. The environment was cozy, the crowd mainly 55+ which just meant the dinner conversations around us was rather loud and mainly depressing… «guess who died today.(Is not dinner conversation). Although I understand this day and age when you get to 70 and up most your friends you only see in the obituaries… But still common… At dinner. Really? Parking is pretty good, located close to route 2. There is outdoor seating with live music and heaters, looked really nice, definitely will be back. Overall pleasantly surprised, the look of the place doesn’t do the food justice. Heads up to the cooks, amazing comfort dishes.
