Just about perfect… A large, quality burger, a 16 oz draft beer(Yuengling) and an assortment of condiments(pickles, onions, l+t, banana peppers) and a bag of chips. Macaroni salad. A friendly, wise-ass ‘tender and ‘tenderess. Before tip, $ 8. Why would you go anywhere else?

The last of the dive bars on old French Hill in Marlborough. I stop by here once every few months when I’m in town because I enjoy the atmosphere. The draft beer selection is surprisingly good for an old time bar — Guinness, Smithwick’s and some microbrews in addition to the standard Bud selections. There’s always a Boston sports team on the tube and the bartenders are friendly enough. This isn’t the kind of bar where you order a Cosmo or a flavored Martini. I’ve only ordered the burgers off the menu and I’ve always enjoyed them. A good bar with a lot of local character.

best burger in town for $ 5.25 come with chips and pasta The steak tips are to die for only get 6 but so good for $ 6.75 you might want to order two orders and take some to go! The bartenders are all nice and the place looks like a saloon inside with wood floors and saloon doors coming into bar! they have pool tables in back room and Keno and Lottery. Great place for Lunch only! they only serve dinner on Monday nights. Love this dive bar and grill Go on Sundays for Football and the place is crowd and the Bartender Kelly is a real hoot! Love her that girl she so much fun and always has something going on! She only works SUNDAYS&MONDAYLUNCH.

I’m visiting from Indiana and wanted to celebrate a friends birthday and get some drinks. There were four of us from out of town. Normally I love dive-type bars so the environment was fine with us. As soon as the bartender saw our out of state licenses he was extremely rude to all of us. He told us that if he really wanted he didn’t have to serve us because we don’t have MA ids. When two of us were on the 4th shot, and our DD was paying, he began being more rude to her, wasn’t going to fill up the shots we were paying for, and told her we were all cut off and he wouldn’t serve us. Because of this rudeness she took her change instead of tipping, and he then proceeded to tell her we needed to leave immediately after we drank the shots. We weren’t rowdy or rude but were treated horribly. Enter at your own risk, I guess.

Get over the atmosphere don’t question it just love it. It is a dive bar. The drinks are fairly priced but who cares. This is why the place matters the burger. They make a hand formed fresh patty and it is the best burger you can buy in of the surrounding Boroughs or the Ham plus it’s only $ 5.25. Go get a burger.

Love it. Great staff, CHEAP, excellent food(not a burger eater but pals say WAYBETTER than 5 guys at half the price! Double thumbs up on the $ 3.75 tuna with all the fixings). Only been there for special occasion lunches with the boss buying the pitcher so haven’t had the full eve experience. Skip the chains, go for the real thing and keep it around for the next generation as a reminder what it was like before the cookie-cutter chains took over the food and drink world! PS, to the one star dive bar review, maybe you’d be happier at the 99 down the street! Don’t purposely go to a dive bar and knock it!

Decent dive bar. Keep it to the basics though. Ordering an Amaretto sour was a mistake

So it’s last call at Chin’s, you and your buddy get out of work fairly late, and it’s a weekday and you have no work tomorrow… what do you do? «Let’s go to the P!» Upon first arrival you think it’s gonna be some biker bar as you pull in and just look at the building. However, you walk in and it couldn’t be more saloon-esque. Albeit, I’ve never been here during the day so I can’t review the food or daytime/afternoon atmosphere, but the late night crowd has some characters. I usually go for the pitcher, you can’t go wrong… A pitcher of beer(about 6 beers) for $ 10, it’s very fair in my opinion. Make sure to bring quarters, you could ask the bartender(that’s what I did but I felt like a burden) but the jukebox has more songs than I expected. The customers can talk your ear off, and that doesn’t bother me one bit. I enjoy going out to a bar, and having a nice chat every once in awhile. However, the one major reason I go here besides the really cheap pitchers has to be, the pool. It is one of the few bars around my place that has pool! I recommend this place for the 21+ male, however the female crowd I don’t think will be too fond of this place. It is by no means a nightclub, it is the definition of a dive bar.

Excellent lunch on a Friday, or any day really. I am not sure there is a weekday I haven’t been here at some point. It is funny reading the posts with 1 star and seeing how it is the same people etc. The Friday lunch crowd seems to be more local hi-tech, hard working people who know where to get good food, rather than a bar lined with«townies» Actually this place was pointed out by a client of mine who has a thing for very tasty steak tips. We go there from time to time when I take the team out for lunch. It is VERY reasonably priced, at lunch you can get steak tips or a burger for CHEAP, and it comes with pasta salad as well. They are able to handle large lunch groups as sometimes we have 5 people, other times we have 25 people, and the food is always great. Sure it is a dive bar, but it does have that hometown, hole-in-the-wall feel. The owners are great and always tag team the grill and register to get the food out hot and quickly. Typical lunch menu is basic, tips, burger, chicken sandwich and a few other options, nothing fancy, just good quick food. I am sure there are«better» places to go, but for a quick lunch on the cheap with excellent tasting tips, this is my spot.

How do I love you, P, let me count the ways! I love your old benches and tables, your jukebox, your ecclectic crowd. I love Lisa & Bobby for your commitment to the neighborhood. I love your cheap beers and atmosphere, your curt menu & wifi! Do not be intimidated by the dark appearance or side entrance. darts, pool, jukebox… the P is full of character & characters.

Great dive bar — dark and shady on the inside, Never crowded — Im sure the same few old guys sitting on the same bar stools are there everytime I go in & the Beer is cheap and cold. They have great pool tables and darts in the back through the swinging saloon doors.

May be a dive bar, but nobody from this town would have it any other way. Delicious and very inexpensive, the Prospector East Saloon serves up an incredibly tasty burger made just the way you like it… must be the grill ~ everyone raves about them. Always served up with a bag of chips and all-you-can-eat Pasta Salad. Limited menu, but everything on it is top notch… Burger, Steak Sandwich, Porkcetta, Pastrami-to-die-for, Steak Tips, Marinated Grilled Chicken, Hot Dogs, and more ~ Something for everyone here and the atmosphere is laid back and friendly(thanks to Lisa, our favorite lunchtime Bartender). Saturday lunch features home-made hot roast beef on a bulkie with au-jus for dipping ~ deee-lish! Definitely one of my favorite hidden gems of Marlborough!

It’s 2:36 in the afternoon on a weekday and I have a decent buzz on. Why is this important? Because I went to Prospector for Lunch with a friend. Okay, I already ate my lunch so really I just had, er… beverages. It’s a attached to yet another of Marlborough municipal parking lots(who knew there were so many?) but the lot feels like it’s meant to be private parking for the saloon. And saloon IS the right word. There is a big red outside door(that’s left propped open when the whether is nice) but inside that are the main doors… swinging saloon doors from floor to ceiling. When you walk in everything is wood… and not new stupid shiny wood, but aged delightful homey wood. This place was a winner, for me, before I even ordered. I had a JW Black and later a Sam Oct and my friend had just the Sam(and some of mine). My friend also ordered a steak and cheese. This is where it gets interesting… the kitchen is open an in plain sight of the bar and we sat there and watched them actually throw a steak on the grill. Then they folded up that steak and put it on a big ‘olé bulkie roll and toss on a slice of cheese. It also came with chip on the side… but it was a WHOLESTEAK. A thin steak, definitely, but still a whole steak! I’m assuming that means you can even request how it’s cooked. Wowzers! Service was friendly but the real kicker was the bill. 1JW Black + 2 Octoberfests + 1 Steak in Cheese(with a whole steak) = $ 16.40. I shit you not. So why not four stars? Well… I’d like to see how they handle the evening crowd… but rest assured, I’ll be back and there’ll be an update. (P.S. They’ve also got a back room with pool tables.)
