There are some pretty decent bargains here. Like all discount/bargain stores, you have to be good at separating the wheat from the chaff to get a good deal, but it’s worth it. I buy things like pantry staples, boxed Christmas cards, and health and beauty staples here. I would not recommend buying items like towels and sheets here though. The bath towels are super flimsy. I had one flannel sheet set that I bought because we just moved and I couldn’t find mine and the dye actually rubbed off onto my quilt and the wall. I bought a cotton sheet set after that and it lasted 2 or 3 washes before it had holes in it. It’s kind of dirty and has that plasticy discount store smell. The employees are there to check people out and stock shelves. The lines can be long, but not too bad. If you happen to get the last of something and it doesn’t have a price tag, you will wait for what seems like an eternity for somebody to either find a price or make an educated call on it. The checkers have no ability to do the latter which is a shame because they probably have a pretty good sense for what something costs and lines wouldn’t be held up forever. Neat little place where you can find the ordinary, the odd, and sometimes score a great deal in the process.

There are always great deals to be found here. The only bad thing is the place is always wicked messy.

They ALWAYS have something I’m looking for at the right price. Get it while you can… it may not be there next week. Nice staff too for being a low-cost leader. Usually places like this have a unfriendly staff

Yeah, you can find a lot of crap. But you can get amazing deals on quality stuff rather consistently. Especially cookware and spices. And flours and grains. It’s like discount Bob’s Red Mill heaven in here!

So is there anywhere else you can find a mixed bag of cheap products… From automotive supplies to salsa… from garden supplies to deodarant… You can from time to time find a bargain or something you never knew you needed and there it is. The store is large and never organized and most everything has been picked through. But it offers low prices and is reminiscent of the days I’d get dragged to Spags. The store has an odd chemical smell perhaps from pool chemicals. Remember this is low end shopping and you have to realize Ocean State is what it is. Down and Dirty bargain shopping. Who can resist a bargain.

Ocean State Job Lot seems like a cross of Family Dollar and Walmart. Many non-brand items without extra features for cheap. Don’t expect the same amount of service and organization as you’d find in a department store. Things are basic and inexpensive. Store has plenty of useful home and personal items.

It’s Ocean State, the bastard food cousin of Walmart, but it does hold some twinges of satisfaction. Cheap pricing and even cheaper product are the Hallmarks of this small thrift adjacent to Marshall’s. Organic food selection would not be one of the casualties some might come to expect from this store. There are actually hard to find and impressive foods to nick from the shelves. There are plenty of ditch dirt product, please don’t get that confused, but there are some things worth a scour. The rest is what you would expect. Low prices, low expectations, unforgettable regulars.
