This is a best sushi place I know in the Freehold area. I only go to eat sashimi, and most pieces were great, only white tuna was previously frozen but this is same for most places I know. Its a BYOB, typically very quiet during the day, service is pretty good but eating off the table with a piece of newspaper pretending to be tablecloth takes a star away. The only reason I do not come down here more often is parking: they share lot with a gym and a big superstore, so even with a row of 6 – 8 «reserved» parking spots it can be frustrating to park, especially in the rain.

Poor quality sushi. Rolls awkward shaped and mushy. Taste is very poor. Gas station sushi tastes better.

The Bento box lunch special was a good buy at $ 12. The spicy tuna rolls were good, but small.

Pushing Koo up to 5 stars. Great food, atmosphere and nice owners. OK I’m back to 4 stars for Koo. Im not sure if they switched Sushi chefs but they were a little up and down over the past few months. I’m happy to say that after the 3 past visits they have regained my confidence. The food is fresh and reasonably priced. They have some good signature rolls and even their standard rolls are great. This has been and will remain to be our«go to» Sushi place.

I went last night and I can’t say I had any complaints. Place looked clean and it was nice inside. Everything I got was tasty. I thought the prices were right were they should have been. Service was great, and byob. I would give them 4.5 if there were half stars.

Went for lunch. The restaurant was clean and inviting. The special was Lobster with Ginger and Scallions, one of my favorites and it was perfectly cooked, looked beautiful too, as good as I remember in Chinatown in Brooklyn where I first had it years ago. Ordered with a side of brown rice. Service was good though there was a bit of a language barrier with the waitress. Had not been to Koo for quite some time and enjoyed it. People I was with had the sushi which they found to be acceptable.

Honestly the food choices in Marlboro are pretty poor. Koo is no different. While the décor is nice the food is not. The sushi is probably the worst I’ve ever had. I would not recommend Koo to anyone I know, or my fellow Unilocalers.

Went here for dinner several times and lunch yesterday. Wanted to stay local where we were at yesterday with family. Was really not impressed. Although its a nicely decorated restaurant would not go there again for food. We had their lunch specials which were ehh. I had a bento box with salmon teriyaki figured you can’t screw this up but sigh. they did it was so overly cooked it was more like crispy salmon teriyaki. Veggies were slim pickins as far as almost a whole onion and a few select peppers underneath crispy salmon. We were given a lunch menu and it seemed they didn’t want us to order any speciality rolls from main menu I kept asking woman for other menu and every time one of us tried reading it, it was taken away from us. eventually we were able to order special rolls but seemed to be a burden in their point of view. We were still picking from our plates and they were trying to take them away.(pet peeve) at least ask if we were done. The speciality rolls were decent not jump up and down going omg. but edible. Asked for spicy mayo twice finally got it was still using it and it was taken away. Prices are reasonable but in my opinion I’ve had much better, I’ve made much better and I suck at making sushi. rolls seem kinda bland. not impressed. Couldn’t deal with staff attitude which really was unprofessioal. all in all would not go back.

My friend and I came here because we wanted to stay local and I happened to find a 15% off coupon. We were blown away. They don’t skimp out on the ingredients and everything was fresh. We ordered multiple rolls and a la carte pieces of sushi. Out of all the rolls we tried, I enjoyed the four seasons roll the most because of the additional element of crunch from the shrimp tempura. Additionally, the uni/sea urchin sushi pieces were huge and loaded, double the size and amount of something you would get in NYC but approximately half the price, with everything you’d expect from good uni: creamy, buttery, delicate goodness that melts in your mouth. The only thing that I was a little disappointed in was our waiter. He wasn’t very attentive and brought us the check assuming that we had finished our meal, but we had wanted to order dessert; however, there was a social and amiable couple who I believe are the restaurant owners who chatted with the customers and kept checking to see if we were enjoying our meal or needed anything. Overall, we were completely satisfied with our meal and had a pleasant experience. We definitely plan on returning. I highly recommend this place.

This is my favorite sushi maybe ever. I dream about leaving the City and coming to Koo. The Jersey Shore roll is my favorite-I’m pretty into the soy wrappers. Honestly, all of their rolls are good– I’ve never had a bad meal here.

Simply, Koo is an average Japanese restaurant, nothing more nothing less. Their sushi is pretty good and their prices are average. The friendly and quick service make Koo a great place to stop in for a quick lunch meal. However, many of their entrees are a bit greasy and lack the authenticity you’d expect for the prices. If you’re looking for a restaurant to grab a quick and tasty lunch, definitely give Koo a try. But if you’re expecting fine Japanese cuisine, you may want to look elsewhere.

I used to get delivery from Koo all the time. This restaurant has gone down hill! Never ordering again. I ordered a meal in late November, chicken in garlic sauce and eggplant in garlic sauce. The sauce was nothing but oil and water when I got it. I called back and informed the woman(who barely spoke English) and she apologized and said she would refund the cost of the food and the next order would be ‘free’. I said thank you. I called in the second week of January to avail my free order, and a guy by the name of Hunter came on and said you never paid for the first one and now you want free, no cannot help. I asked to speak with someone who can speak a little better English in hopes that perhaps there was a misunderstanding and I can relay that I like their food but this was what was agreed upon. A guy named Nick came on the phone, started yelling, and said yeah you want a free order so there is nothing we can help you with. Nick spoke fluent English and did not want to hear a word I wanted to say. I asked for the name of the owner and he said you can call back on Friday or Saturday and speak with the woman you spoke to. He refused to provide the name of the owner and then said I’ve had many people try and get things for free in my years so yeah I know people like you. I couldn’t believe my ears. I asked for the manager and he said he is the manager! I mentioned that I’m surprised at his customer service and would have to report it to the better business bureau. He started yelling at me and then hung up on me!!! I will never be ordering from them again. They lost a long time customer. I had been ordering from them for years!

Only had delivery there twice. I got the same things each time: coconut shrimp, pineapple fried rice and bubble tea. The coconut shrimp was excellent but it’s pretty pricy for an appetizer. The pineapple fried rice was the best I ever had. The bubble tea was great but I’ve had better. It was good, I’d order again. It was just a little expensive.

Tip: it’s BYOB. When you first walk in, the interior design isn’t anything worth noting. It took our waiter a while to come back to our table after giving us our wine glasses — already was not a good sign. He was very quiet and was barely audible. The waitstaff is very important to any restaurant’s overall feel. Needless to say, it didn’t leave a great impression. The food is average & was priced okay. Honestly, The miso soup & salad was okay(at least it wasn’t bland). We ordered the Thai chicken with broccoli(tasted like a typical Chinese dish), mango chicken(it came with a lot of vegetables & not enough chicken, but I did like how the chicken was thinly sliced), and the thai style grilled chicken(was the best dish out of the three). We also ordered the Koo special roll which I really liked — it’s great if you like raw fish as it is packed with it. The other roll was the Pink Panther roll which was rather bland. The sauce that came with the Pink panther roll lacked in flavor as well. Each entrée was $ 15& the two rolls were $ 12 each — not too bad. If you want to try a new place, it isn’t a horrible place to go to, but I wouldn’t come here again.

I always see the 15% off coupons in the random mailing but have not ventured until tonight and well worth it. Décor: I think this place use to be an italian restaurant. There is a mural on the wall when you walk and it immediately struck me as odd in an asian fusion restaurant. Other than that, clean and well maintained. They had a larger section that could accommodate large groups as well. Food: Roti– a little greasy from what I’m use to and only 4 pieces vs the traditional puff. Curry sauce was tasty and flavorful Mango Shrimp– Served in a shell of a fresh mango. The shrimp was cooked well and the sauce was a sweet and sour sauce with wonderful touch of thai basil, mango, and scallions(they peel the shell all the way to the tail so you can get every edible piece of it) Sushi: Fantastic Eel, Spiderweb, Pink Panther, Mexi-koo, Tuna Lover All were good. Stand out favorites, Pink Panther, Tuna Lover, and Spiderweb. Each came with their own dipping sauce. Service: Staff was very attentive. The host was very gracious when a bunch of kids repetitively came up to get candy. I absent minded-ly left my purse there and they were very nice to call so we can come back.
