I made a stop here when my girlfriend and I were on a short vacation in Poughkeepsie. They don’t do tours, but the tastings were free, and the woman who was working there was very friendly. I admitted that I am sort of a newbie to wine tasting and appreciation, so she did a great job of setting up a little tasting that covered quite a few different styles of wine and explained them to me. On top of that, we all ended up having a great conversation. Afterwards, I bought a couple of bottles — everything was quite well priced. You won’t find many wineries anymore that don’t charge for tastings.

After hiking in the Catskills and visiting Walkway Over the Hudson we decided to try some wine in the region. First, a few items to note: — There is no fee for sampling the wine. — Some pretzels were offered to cleanse the palette. — All of the wine is kosher. That said, found the whites to be the most favorable, however, the sampled wines were not well advertised at the establishment and we were unable to find them in the store. Ended up buying a different white and it wasnt too bad. While Kedem makes some wine onsite, they bottle everything in Bayonne and have many other locations. Thus, if your looking for something more ‘local’ this would not be the place.
