Perkins Restaurant & Bakery

Place used to have servers and staff with ten plus years or more on the job there. The place used to be packed. Saturday mornings used to be a sea of Scarlet and Gray during Buckeye football season.
Now every one of the old-​timers on staff were let go and the wait staff has a turn over rate equal to a fast food joint.
Our last three visits there nothing was right with our order, again and again. Had to ask for the correct salad dressing, syrup for pancakes, refills on drinks (used to be your glass would be hajj empty before being replaced with a new one or a refill), and the food quality has truly hit the skids.
My take on this? Labor and food costs are the easiest things to cut way back on. And I can imagine that stripping the staff down and buying cheap ingredients could probably make them more profit with fewer customers.
But they have run us off and I would bet this philosophy will catch up with them. It’s a shame. And they do t hold a candle to Real Perkins quality restaurants any where else we go.
Sad.

A good, clean efficient joint. I actually prefer this to any if your box chains like Applebee’s, Panera, Olive Garden etc., they are different in that they carry many home-​made pies and desserts.
I ordered the grilled salmon and veggie medley, and finished off with a caramel apple pie!
Summary: reasonably priced good quality food. Gave it a 4 star just because of the lack of WOW factor, but the best in Marion nevertheless!

Unfortunately, our second visit left a little to be desired. Service, though kind, was much slower. Children were also running through the dinning area. I know it may be awkward but someone has to remind them… or their parents such behavior is not polite nor is it safe.
When I found a stick like steam in my tomatoe basil soup, it put an end to an already not too good tasting meal. While I would be okay with returning and trying something else, I felt a little less impressed.

Visited on a Sunday evening. We were able to sit just about anywhere (it was dead). I was a little concerned at the lack of folks, but I have to say that the service was good (I would hope). Our food arrived promptly and was tasty. Everyone in our group seemed to agree the food tasted fresh, and was hot!
