I’ve been to this place twice now and each time the old fella with the glasses who works behind the register has been a complete ass. Abrasive and condescending. The ranges are a mess, the targets are always full of holes and getting them replaced means dealing with this old coot who acts like you’re asking him to go to bed with his daughter. Been to allot of ranges and this ranks dead last to me. Save you money and go to any one of the other ranges in the San Antonio area.

This place may be far but once you get out there you will see it is worth the drive. The owners Vernon and Jennifer Winkelmann are some of the nicest, hospitable and professional people you would ever meet. They make you feel right at home. This is their home. I would recommend this Shooting Range to anyone. They even do large parties with dinner at an affordable price.

I’ve been at this range twice in the past 2 months and I really like it. Doesn’t seem much when you approach the main entrance coming off a secondary road. You go down a narrow road to get to the range. Once you approach it, you come up on the main building on the left which is where you get your target, extra ammo, drinks and pay. They recently added firearms and scope sales. Not a large selection but a few S&Ws from what a could see. They have ranges for a wide array of firearms. They also have a skeet range. I found the people at the counter to be very friendly and helpful. They don’t bother you when you’re on the range. I paid $ 11.75 for a target. I wasn’t charged by they firearm like other places tend to do. The target distances are adjusted by moving some large metal framed stands. You can have up close to as far as 20+ yrds. Gave it 4 stars only because of the ammo shells on the ground. Doesn’t seem they(or anyone) picks up or cleans up once ammo has been used – which is really no big deal but seems a little odd. I thought used shells returned small profits for the owner. All in all –a laid back range but very safe to use. Everyone is very safety conscious and friendly when on the range. I’m very comfortable shooting there even if it’s farther out that the range than the one(Brackenridge) closer to me.

I like this place a lot. Most ranges watch you like a hawk, bug you about rapid firing, and have other restrictive rules. Not this place. It’s not that they will let you do whatever you want, they just aren’t going to be all over you. You’ll pay the guy and probably never see another employee unless you want to. You go buy a target for the type of weapon you want(pistol, rifle, shotgun) for about $ 12. They have silhouettes for the pistols and bulleyes for the others. They do also have a membership which gives you discounted rates. The pistol range has moveable stands for your targets while the range range has multiple distances. All are covered with tables. There’s also a trap/skeet and what looks like an airgun range. I haven’t used either. They also have a decent store with various items like glasses, muffs, and ammo.
