Scudder Solar Energy Systems

The Scudder Solar team did an outstanding job on our solar installation. Andrew exhibited a high level of professionalism in spec’ing the system. Rudy, Keith and the rest of the on-​site crew did a great on the actual panel and electrical work.
Ten months after installation there have been no issues, and we’ve covered all electrical usage for both our summer A/​C and EV charging requirements.

I did a great deal of research about solar systems and then contacted three top dealers to get proposals for my house. I used two different Sunpower dealers with one being Scudder Solar and also REC Solar. REC Solar was very much a plug and play approach with a one size fits all solution so I quickly eliminated them. Of the two Sunpower dealers Scudder’s people were the most professional, thorough, and flexible.
I wanted to maximize the output from the panel arrays and use the California CSI’s recommended tilt angle for my area while also conforming to building and fire codes. This made for a tricky design but Scudder’s people worked with me to come up with a design that was perfect. This included using a two string inverter which they provided at no additional charge and they added a whole house surge protector to the proposal as well.
Their electrician was very professional and also worked with us to have the inverter mounted where it was easily accessible and to minimize any cosmetic impact from the conduit runs. I have worked from many years in construction and know the difference between OK work that is good enough for inspectors and work that goes the extra mile and shows pride in workmanship by the person doing the work.
When the local utility company’s person came out to the house to inspect the installation and change out the meter, he commented that he could always tell when the work had been done by Scudder as everything was perfect. Even the labels were done as engraved hard plastic plates that will last for decades — first time I have seen that extra effort done as a matter of course.
I have no reservations at all about recommending Scudder Solar for the design and installation of a solar system. For something this expensive and that is going to be in operation for 30 years it is a good idea to go with a company with lots of experience, a thoroughly professional approach from beginning to end, and that is likely to be around for the life of the system.
