I will try to give you my unbiased opinion, but full disclosure: I grew up in this tiny city! Back in the day we could actually hike over a couple of hills, and in less than 15 minutes we would be watching the waves crash at the Marina State Beach! Those days didn’t last too long as the State eventually allowed Highway 1 to run through our path. What is not too like in this city? It has seen some accelerated development since the closing of Fort Ord. With the exception of boba places, Filipino & Persian bakeries, it is well equipped! When I was living here, there was no local high school. Fast forward a handful of years, they not only have their own high school, they even have their own university(Cal State Monterey Bay — GOOTTERS!)!!! Now that alone has put the City of Marina on the map! As far as the climate goes, most folks out here do not invest in central air conditioning. It is usually 5 – 10 degrees cooler than San Jose/South Bay. Since it is located right up against the beautiful Pacific Ocean, you get to enjoy that FRESH breeze! If you are headed down to Monterey, and for some reason you can’t control your bladder, stop by!
