I asked Windward Yacht Center to commission my new Jeanneau 53, that had been shipped to LA from France. Even though it was a tight schedule to do the work before the boat was scheduled to be delivered to Hawaii, they were able to do the major work(install the keel, do the rigging, have a dodger made to order, and get the brightwork done) on time and within the quote given to me beforehand. I have dealt with many marinas and yards over the years, but this one was the most professional and attentive one I have ever worked with. Under the careful supervision of Simon Landt(the yard’s GM), the work was carried out to my complete satisfaction. Simon was on top of everything, and made helpful suggestions and observations throughout the process. I recommend both him and his staff very highly.

I was very happy with the service delivered by Windward Yacht Center. The bottom painting and repairs to my small boat were done in the predicted manner and time for a bit under the original cost estimate. When after the job was done, and it was found that a certain valve was missed, they immediately towed the boat back from its slip and quickly handled what was missed and delivered it back to the slip the same day. I would recommend them for any of the services they deliver in the future.

Called the yard today to see how much they charge for me to haul my boat out to do some minor work. What a rip off $ 270 to haul out and $ 200 a day for storage. Can’t believe LA county allows them to charge this ridiculous amount, will find another way hopefully.

I use this boatyard for my charter boats. I’m right down the street so it’s super convenient. Great and helpful staff. Price is a bit pricey, but that’s like most boatyards. By far the best I’ve been to, and I’ve been to a lot of different ones. Now this is the only one I go to and I come a few times a year. Highly recommended!

Had my boat hauled out to install a tranasducer and repair a seacock. Transducer work was done very well. Chris went our of his way to call the manufacturer and the paint company to be sure that he was using the right the bottom paint for the transducer. I was impressed with how conscientious he was. The seacock repair was less satisfactory. The mechanic worked hard to free it, but ended up breaking off the handle without freeing it. To be fair, I don’t know if anyone could have freed it, but hammering on the back side got it free once it was broken out. In any case, I now have a totally new ball valve, I would definitely recommend Windward for boat repairs. I have been going there for years and would surely go there over the other MDR boatyard.

My Catalina 320(32′) Sailboat was hauled out at Windward in December 2013. New bottom paint, 6 blisters, new PSS, packless sealing system on engine shaft, new cutlass bearing, new engine water intake hose. All work professionally and swiftly accomplished by skilled craftsmen. Chris Waid coordinates the work done in a very busy yard like a maestro. I felt every bit as valued a customer as the owner of a Maxi Boat. Skill, Efficiency, Honesty. Hard to beat that combination.

I just had the bottom painted on my 1973 Catalina 27. I also had the rudder shaft repacked. Chris gave me a fair estimate for the work and treated me as though I was an important customer, even though my boat was by far the smallest boat in the yard. I am very please with the work and the service I received. And to top it off the final bill was LESS then the estimate. I will definitely keep coming back to Windward

I was a bit leery of driving our boat 29 miles up the coast to Marina Del Rey, especially with fuel around $ 4 per gallon. But most of the boat yards in the Long Beach area would NOT let us do our own work and bring in our own paint. After inspecting the Windward Boat Yard I felt comfortable with our decision. These folks run their boat yard like a business, which is hard to find in our neck of the woods! They are very friendly, and will work with you if you have problems. Best part is they won’t nickel and dime you to death. The yard is very clean and safe. I left my power tools and paint out every night and never had an issue with theft. Even though we did the work ourselves, I was always able to get good, free advice. Our boat is a 45 foot twin engine trawler, and we were TINY compared with some of the boats in the yard. They have three cranes and can handle up to 100 tons, we weighted in at 35,000 or 17.5 tons. They will let you stay aboard your boat when you are working on it, just make sure you ask for access to the ‘owners’ facilities. This requires a small refundable deposit for the FOB, but well worth it. All the folks that work here are first rate and extremely helpful. We will be back again and will encourage our friends to use Windward Boat Yard!

I’ve been using this boat yard since my first sailboat in 1998. Now I operate a couple charter boats which means a haulout for each every two years. Although nothing about fixing boats is cheap, I actually enjoy coming here. Betty Jo, Simon and Chris are great and accommodating. Most boatyards are notorious for quoting one price than charging more when it’s time to put you back in the water. If you don’t pay, they hold your boat hostage. I never feel as though I’m going to get ripped off here. I’ve been to boat yards from down the California coast to Florida and this is by far my favorite and it’s right at my backdoor. Highly recommended!!!

I love Windward. They are friendly, organized and there are no hidden charges or surprises. They truly make any of your boat pains a little less painless.
