Love the blackened chicken and pasta. The potstickers are pretty good too. The service is hit and miss though and they could really put just a few dollars and a little care into their outside eating area.

We popped in for a late dinner on Saturday evening and were quickly seated outside on the patio even though it was already 7:30(they close at 8PM). Service was good and we didn’t feel rushed. It’s a nice view and kind of fun to watch the people on the river, strolling along the river, tearing past on motorcycles(ok, maybe not the last one). I had a cup of soup and the steak salad. After ordering, the waitress came back afterwards to ask if I wanted melted cheese on the salad(hot cheese? on a salad?). The salad was presented nicely and tasted good except for the potato straws, which were a bit like having soggy bits of potato chip as a garnish. While we were eating, a group of people on a historic tour stopped in front of the restaurant and a guide spoke at length about the history of the building(which is all well and good, but kind of weird to have a bunch of tourists staring at you on the patio [some of them leaned against our car and started smoking]).

Having lived in the area for a few months and finally made it to this ‘relaxing’ and ‘quaint’ restaraunt. Such a delight to sit outside with a view of the river. I rarely go out to eat alone, but I will definitely come back! To start, the house salad was fresh and tastes. Having to decide between the two specials, I couldn’t imagine the other having more flavor. Although I do not eat pasta often, the choice was Chicken Fajita Pasta. Along with a glass of Merlot, Wow! Full of flavor! The pasta was a great addition to the robust tomatoes, peppers, seasoning, and chicken. It was a delight. I would highly recommend this place!

Had my Mother’s Surprise 70th birthday dinner here. The staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Beautiful, scenic venue. Menu is extensive and has something to meet everyone’s needs at very affordable prices. 10 people in the party and everyone ordered something different. Every person was satisfied with quality and flavor of their meals and also the service. Appetizers ordered: Fried ravioli, delicious(and I am not easy to please when it comes to sauce.) Pot stickers very tasty and Spinach artichoke dip also pleased with the flavor. I ordered the Nut crusted chicken with goat cheese, must save it was bursting with flavor and tender and juicy. My mother had the spaghetti and meatballs, she said it was the best she has ever had. Blackened chicken was very tasty as well as the crab cake sandwich and burger. Do not miss out on the dinner rolls, so tasty they don’t even need to be buttered.

I visited The Levee House last night with my family. They had been before several times-this was my first(and last) experience. I really had high hopes because growing up in the area I’ve always heard wonderful things about The Levee House. What a major let down! The dining room is not inviting at all. But it was clean and the service was fine. But the food!!! Oh the food was terrible! Myself and another person in my party had the Chicken Pea Pasta. First off-it was room temp. And the pasta and peas and chicken were swimming in the watered down cream sauce. It was more like a soup! No flavor. Had to salt and pepper it up and even then it was still horrible. I’ve had better pasta dishes at Fazolis! The other person in my party had the spaghetti and meatballs. Again-extremely underwhelmed. The meatballs were the frozen type you buy at the grocery store. Sauce was straight from a can. The Levee house really needs to step up their game-or majorly lower their prices. I’ll never go there again!

Service was fine nothing special but, the food was very below par for the amount of money they charge. We had a group of seven and we all were very disappointed, the crab cakes are all filler, the Caesar salad was so over dressed you couldn’t eat it, the tomatoes were mush, the ploughmans plater was a total disappointment. The place had a stuffy feeling that is very unwelcoming.

This was a nice stop for lunch with acceptable food. The service was friendly but somewhat slow and weak. Hint: don’t ask if we want dessert while we’re both still eating the main course! By far the selling point – and the reason that we selected The Levee House – is the ability to sit outside with a grand view of the Ohio River.

Nothing special. Outside tables messy, food was ok, service ok as well. I’d look elsewhere for a place on the river but this might be the only one?

What a treat, right on the river with dining available outside. Great simple meals that are reasonable priced(plus the view). Next time there do stop in and be treated by the charm.

Perfect location. Seating right on the river. Had the shrimp diablo at lunch and it was perfectly spicy. Have heard they have the best crabcakes. I plan to go back for them. If you’re looking for great food and an even better atmosphere, The Levee House is where you wanna be.

Decent. Walleye special was good, but all the dishes just seemed to be missing that one ingredient(s) that would put it over the edge into very good to outstanding food. I liked the ambiance and the service was OK.

When visiting small cities I always want to find a restaurant that is both delicious and gives you an experience that is unique to that place. You will get that at the Levee House. Right on the river and in a historic building, we had two of the Chef’s specials and they were excellent. After dinner we could take a beautiful walk along the river. If you are visiting Marietta this is a safe bet; just get there before they close at 9pm.

One of my favorite places to dine in Marietta! Meals here are always delicious, but the building can be chilly in cold weather. The main dining area is an old brick building with big windows and no insulation, so usually everyone usually knows it will be chilly despite any amount of heat they try to pipe in there… just dress accordingly! The front patio provides great views of the Ohio River when you can sit out there in warmer months. I have to avoid second hand cigarette smoke due to health issues, and am extremely thankful that the owner enforces a no smoking policy on the patio. One evening, a customer came in and was seated at the next table over while I was dining outside and requested an ash tray from the owner to smoke at the table. The owner informed the customer of the no smoking policy on the patio and they just got up and left… the owner was not concerned about them leaving one bit at all. One thing’s for sure, he got a forever customer out of me right then and there!

Come here for the location, stay for the food. We ate outside on a gorgeous summer evening, and that was lovely. My initial choice from the menu was to get a crab cake, based on another Unilocaler’s review, I got the crab cake sandwich, which also got me a side, and it was quite tasty and served on a very nice ciabatta. My dining companion is on a gluten-free diet and they were very accommodating. The service was very good, very attentive. Our waitress was happy to ask questions(especially important because of the gluten-free considerations). The food was good, but not life-changing. I’d still come back, though!

Yum Yum! This was my best meal in Marietta while working in Parkersburg, WV. I had the blue cheese encrusted steak medallions with garlic mashed potatoes. The dish also came with a fresh vegetable medley of green beans, yellow and orange carrots, red peppers and red onion-all cooked very well-firm and not overcooked. The entrees came with a starter salad which was basic but fresh and had tasty ranch dressing. The filet«medallions» were actually more like 3 small filets, a much better option than normal sliced«medallions» normally served. So good! My coworkers had some food but I was too busy stuffing my face I didn’t notice what they ate=). They assure me their dishes were good as well. To top it off, there is a beautiful view of the river and the weather was amazing for August. Sit outside or enjoy the view from the tables near the window.

Recently went here for dinner with coworkers. All of us are from out of town and generally try a new Pburg/Marietta place to eat each week. We were recommended here by a coworker who lives in the area and generally has decent suggestions(except once where he sent us to a BBQ place that didn’t serve, gasp, beer)… Anyhow… first logistical warning… We followed the GPS directions and ended up walking south of the Lafayette Hotel, which is not where the Levee house is… it is up-river of the hotel, right on the bike/walk path and the river. There is parking right across from the place, as well as on the streets more into Marietta. The view is quite nice during sunset. There are 5 – 6 tables on the bricked walkway. It was nice out so we decided to eat outside. I didn’t spend much time inside, but looked nice and quaint for a romantic dinner or small group — but I wouldn’t bring your 2 screaming kids or a promotion party with frat-boy-office-mates here… The tables outside are small for dinner for 3(us). I wouldn’t do it with 4. especially as the brick walkway they are upon is unlevel, so you can quickly end up with a spilled glass if you’re all Hannibal Lecter with your pork cutting. Beer selection was good, but only in bottles if you’re a draught fan. They do have fosters oil cans(32oz!) if you’re into quantity. We ordered a chips and dip app — I honestly can’t remember what it was — maybe spinach and another sauce. Neither were that remarkable, I guess… For dinner two of us had the burger… which is served on a ciabatta bun. I was surprised and happy that no side options included fries, most everything was interesting and somewhat-more-healthy than fries. I had the pasta salad side. The burger was fantastic — right sized and greasy factor(I think prime-rib, ground) was great with the ciabatta bread. The pasta salad wasn’t anything to write home about, but adequately seasoned and cooked well. For 3 or 4 beers, app and dinner bill was $ 24 or so… not bad at all. Service was outstanding throughout dinner. 4 stars because I like beer on tap, the dippy-appetizer wasn’t anything special, and the tables should be leveled outside — but all minor squawks I can live with… I’ll be back next time we’re in the area… good alternative to the insides of the brewery or Austyns during nice days.

We ate here for dinner on a Monday night. There were many people eating outside on the patio, but since it was a little windy we decided to join one other couple inside in the dining room. The dining room itself is well laid-out and decorated with Ohio River memorabilia. Since there were so few people inside, we felt comfortable walking around and looking at the pictures on the walls while we were waiting for our food. One quirk about the layout that we probably noticed more because it was so empty is that we could see and hear everything going on with the staff in the prep area, but we pretended we couldn’t hear them and I’m sure they did the same for us. Since we hadn’t been there before, we opted to order off the dinner menu, which is full of really unique dishes. My fiancé ordered pork tenderloin marinated in root beer and I opted for the nut-crusted chicken. Before our food came, the waitress brought out a basket of dinner rolls. We were delighted to see that they were served with real butter, not margarine or the even scarier«spread» that one sees at so many places nowadays. After that came our salads, which were fresh and made with a variety of greens, not just iceberg. Now to the entrée itself. My fiancé enjoyed the root beer pork, and I felt the nut-crusted chicken was ambitious but not quite up to my expectations.(There were a lot of flavors present, but they didn’t seem to go together as well as I would have hoped.) We had each ordered roasted potatoes as our side and were a little disappointed that we each got precisely five small cubes of potato on our plates. I guess small portions are to be expected from a fine dining restaurant, but when the side is so small that it takes you a while to discover it on your plate, why even give guests the option of choosing one? The service was quite good, and our waitresses(we had two because one was in training) were quite attentive, coming back several times during the meal. The only quibble was on my fiancé’s part. We are both fans of lemonade, and he is quite adamant that he be served the real stuff that comes from an actual lemon, not Country Time. He asked the waitress(the experienced one, not the trainee) if the lemonade was fresh, meaning«fresh-squeezed,» and she looked confused for a minute and then said«We just made it a few minutes ago.» We were satisfied with this answer, only to find when it came that it really was Country Time after all(and pretty weakly mixed Country Time at that!) There are two problems here– one, that the waitress didn’t know what we were talking about, and two, that someplace that obviously considers itself a fine-dining establishment would serve powdered lemonade mix in the first place. All in all, this place has a good level of service and a nice ambience. While we weren’t overly impressed with the dinner menu, we noticed most people outside were ordering sandwiches, so we might be willing to come back in the future and try that part of the menu instead.

I’ve visited The Levee House Café on two occasions, the first of which I’d rate a 5 star and the second a 3 star… if you’re a math wiz like me, you’ll figure that’s a 4 star average. What a terrific location… inside the oldest building on the riverfront(or outside if you utilize their outdoor tables) you will find some of the tastiest local food Marietta has to offer. The one thing that pops in my head is the fact that the restaurant makes their own salad dressings – and mother may I – they are delicious! Inside is a little old fashioned and plain, but I guess that’s the charm of the restaurant in this river city. But if the weather is good, take advantage of sitting outside and take in the view(and sometimes stench) of what is the Ohio River! The service is suitable for the establishment and the prices are surprisingly fair! After my 3 star experience, someone explained to me that the experience really depends on the chef who is working at this small restaurant. Since many of the items are made from scratch and ultra personalized(you won’t find any Applebee’s value menus here), the chefs’ touch really makes the difference.
