If you are driving through Marietta, you must stop at Tampico. It not only had the fastest service one could ask for, but satisfying, excellent Mexican food. It is kid-friendly and a great atmosphere overall.

Delicious, friendly and accommodating. Yummy margaritas! My chili relleno was fully heated but the flavor was great and the taco was delish! Went with a big group with kids and everyone loved the food.

Tampico in Marietta must have the fastest service in the state. I am not particularly a lover of Mexican food, but this place is so good we did dinner there two nights in a row. We are vegetarians(if that matters) and enjoyed the vegetable chimichanga, which is not often found on a menu. Even the beans and rice are worth eating and this place doesn’t believe in underdone. The portions are big, filling and fast. The fried ice cream for desert is over the top good. The only negative about this place is that you have to drive clear downtown to 2nd street. Plenty of free parking and they take all the cards including American Express.

I always enjoy Tampico’s but tonight I was blown away by a new dish added to the menu. Molcajete Azteca was the dish I ordered. It was big enough to serve two to four people easily. The fresh ingredients used to make the chipotle sauce was amazing. Smokey, peppery, bbq all in one dish. Tampico’s just upped their game folks. Other Mexican restaurants should take note.

Not the best I’ve ever had but very good compared to the other mexican place. Can be very busy at lunch time but that’s a good sign if you’re in no hurry.

Tampico’s is delicious, fast, and friendly. The servers and host(owner?) are always really nice and accomodating, even if you come with a large party. We’ve lived in Marietta for a few months and eat Mexican food a lot, and we don’t bother going across town to the other Mexican restaurant… we know we like Tampico and we stick to it! Never have had a bad experience here.

OUTSTANDING place to eat in Marietta. You will get your food extremely quick and it’s always piping hot and fresh. Servers are friendly and their shrimp fajitas nachos are TODIEFOR. One of the best places to eat in Marietta for individuals in a hurry.

Tampico found a way to bring good Mexican fare to a small river town in the midwest and make it work — an accomplishment going way beyond just food. My lovely Signora and I took my parents here for lunch, and we felt some pressure to make the event special. My parents never eat Mexican food, or if they do, it’s Americanized beyond recognition. We live in SoCal and my wife is from Mexico, so we wanted to share with them, for just a lunch moment, some of the reasons why we love Mexican food so much. We ordered 2 Molcajete for the 4 of us… a bit expensive at $ 17.99 each, but a single serves 2. The Molcajete is the traditional Mexican version of mortar and pestle. At Tampico, it’s a heavy ceramic vessel filled with carne, chicken, shrimp, nopales, and lots of other tasty things. I also got Chiles Toreados, which are roasted jalapenos. Everything was a big hit! The service is cordial and fast, the Toreados were golden and fresh, the Molcajete was excellent, and our non-Mexican(«you mean there’s food other than Italian?) guests were thrilled. They said, «We’re coming back… what they heck was that again?» Ha.

I was sat quickly and had my order taken right away. The food also came out quickly. Everything was off to a good start until the food came. The food here was 2 stars for me and the service was 4. I had to leave the 2 star review because I think someone should choose a place for their food. Nobody wants a happy person serving them a turd with a smile. They’d rather know to expect the turd. That might be harsh. The food here wasn’t bad, it just lacked flavor and defeated the entire purpose for choosing a ethnic restaurant. The salsa is watered down and over puréed and isn’t spicy at all. The beans were blah, and the rice was ok, but could have been not as dry with a little more flavor. The enchiladas I ordered did not have very much sauce at all — just a light drizzle over the top to show they remembered to do it. Due to the lack of sauce, I had to use my runny tomato sauce… oh wait, salsa to put over the top of my enchiladas myself. I live in California. We have real Mexican food restaurants. This one is a fraud. I’ll be checking the one out near the Kmart next. It can’t be any worse.

I spotted this place about a year ago, but did not try it until this evening after reading other reviews on Unilocal.I visit Marietta several times a year and it is not a great dining town, although there are a few places that are OK. Tampico is the real deal. I have eaten in a lot of Mexican places all over the US, including Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. This place can hold its own anywhere. We had pork dinners: carnitas and the chili verde. These are both dishes of braised pork that is falling apart tender. My chili verde was excellent with a mild green chili sauce. The carnitas is served with a very good pico de gallo and a dollop of very good quacamole. This is truly comfort food. The chips are fresh and good and the salsa could be served as a cold soup. It is fresh and has a good kick. Don’t bother with more expensive joints in Marietta. Order a beer and work through this menu. I intend to come here repeatedly until I wear it out. The red wine is not good, which is our only complaint. Dinner for two, large portions, one drink apiece was $ 27.04 before the tip.

Such a classic Marietta restaurant! I love the atmosphere and the service here. I am a huge fan of their vegetarian options, especially the spinach quesadilla. They have several flavors of margaritas, the peach one is quite tasty. If you are looking for fast, tasty Mexican food in the mid-Ohio Valley, this is the place to go!

To be honest, I was dubious about the positive reviews for a Mexican restaurant in Marietta, OH. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for something different. I was also impressed by the excellent service.

For mexican food it gets a 1.5 because it’s not very authentic or spicy. For location, it gets a 4 because it’s not in friggin Commiefornia where I happen to be stuck in right now. So it averages out to a 3.

Pretty good Mexican food, considering it is in Ohio. Fast service, cool decorations. Our crew from work had lunch here, and surprisingly, no one complained(a rarity!). The price was reasonable and the food was pretty good!

Been here twice now and both experiences were great. service was fast and food was GOOD! I tried the Barbacoa tacos(a little salty) and Juevos rancheros(which had a real home made taste) guac was excellent along with the chips and salsa.

Thank you fellow Unilocalers for navigating us to this gem! After a few long days of travel and shopping, I had a craving for someplace that had options for great food and an adult beverage or two. Tampico hit the spot in both requirements. We were seated immediately and greeted by our charming waitress who got the feeling we were looking to unwind. She suggested the famous margaritas and there was no disagreement. The frozen strawberry margs were delicious and not overpowering. We had their combination fajitas. A double order was a bit large for two people, I’d recommend a single order if you’ve got a smaller appetite. The meals at the tables around us looked fantastic as well, I don’t think you can go wrong here. Our service was excellent — the waitstaff was attentive and there was never a point in time where we were left needing anything. Prior to leaving, it looked like they are one of the few restaurants offering up moments of embarrassment for those celebrating a birthday. It may have included a rather large sombrero. Oh, and desserts. Delicious looking desserts! I hope this restaurant is here next time I need to come to town. With the experiences I saw around me(all satisfied faces) I can’t see that being a problem!

Service is always fast even when they are busy. I’ve had several large groups meet here for birthday parties and such. This place is perfect for it. The food is done is record time and they keep your drink filled. I The chips and salsa are always fresh. I’ve tried several of the menu items and have been pleased with all of them. 5 stars all the way.

I wish I had something else to add that hasn’t been written by other reviewers. We found this place thanks to Unilocal, stopped in with 3 friends on a Monday night while traveling through. Place was surprisingly empty considering its reviews and were seated immediately. Margarita specials are worthless when the margarita sucks. Here, they are AWESOME and loaded with booze and only $ 2.50. The free salsa and chips were fresh and flavorful, like they were just made moments prior. All our meals came out quite fresh and hot, the service was professional and prompt. I wish I wrote this review sooner, as I’d describe in greater detail what we all had. I do remember we all ordered something different, and everyone was very happy with their meal. If I were back in Marietta, I’d eat here again. A solid dinner investment.
