A great sushi place for the area. The portions are huge. The fish tastes very fresh and the buffet is great for lunch. Lots of fresh, creative sushi roll varieties available. The kitchen is very visible so you can see the sushi and other dishes being prepared. A cool process if youve never been. Their non sushi menu is huge and extremely well priced.

I’ve been a fan of Ru Sans for 10 years, I love their $ 1 nigiri rolls and cheap maki. This is my favorite location, I actually like the small amount of fish they put on the rolls its more balanced with the rice. Sushi isn’t meant to have a massive piece of fish on it, I know that’s more value but I think it tastes nasty. Its meant to be more delicate, not for stuffing your face. I started out going to the KSaw location and stopped going there because the pieces of sushi are just too big, especially the maki. I usually go here for takeout, never really ate-in here so I can’t comment on the buffet or hot items, though I wouldn’t trust that from a place like this(and I don’t like Nori Nori). Last time I went here they were saying they were closing the next day so I think they’re gone?

One of the worst true sushi buffets that I have eaten. The pieces of fish were so small, it was ridiculous. The Rusans in Buckhead and Ansley were much better. I will never eat at this location again.

Very average lunch buffet for a good price. Good quality is a c but price is an «a» for the lunch buffet. I would not come here for anything other than price and convenience at lunch. Would never feel it was a good deal for full price

Quick update: Although I will never dawn the doorstep of this establishment again, and most of the probably 15 people I know well who used to eat there a couple times per week feel the same, I do still know a couple of people who patronize the place. Spoke with one yesterday, apparently things haven’t changed. Surly staff, putting out only a couple of pieces of nigiri at a time– I have honestly never sen such a negative turnaround in a retail business. It’s a shame because a lot of people will come here for the name– RuSan’s is wonderful. NOTTHISONE. I have already found another place a block or two away. I won’t mention the name but I will say this: If you are considering eating here, just throw $ 10 out your car window and run over your foot a few times with the car. I assure you the experience will be more satisfying.

The salmon skin roll tasted like dried cat food. Trust me, I’ve eaten dried cat food before. If you’re a cat, then go. If not… meh. (Truly underwhelming; buffet doesn’t have much variety or freshness to it… rolls seemed kinda warm and limp. Gyoza was crispy. Décor is very old and tired. You can do better)

Not a big fan of this location. The customer service isn’t good and the few waitresses they have are not friendly. Love RuSans but this location is not my favorite at all

I recently moved to Smyrna off of Atlanta Rd, so this is now my closest Ru San’s. It isn’t my preferred location, but it definitely isn’t the worst! The service is good, the food is great, and they’re open late. I really don’t have any complaints. It’s the best sushi you can get for the price, and for having multiple locations.

No Hot Sake, No Plum Wine, no eel on my dragon roll. The word for this visit was just NO! My guy and I came here for a late bite to eat. I’ve come to this location several times before but only for carry out when I lived near this location a while back. Dining in was a bit of a different experience, my guy asked for sake and was told they did not have any, he tried to order plum wine for me and was told that they were out as well(I almost felt like she wanted us to get up and leave, since it was kind of late). However, she brought out cold sake which was something neither of us had before, he actually tried two different kinds before buying both bottles… One was a little milky or should I say white in color and kinda sweet. the other one was clear and it tasted just like a hot sake, just cold. After asking about the Dragon roll, I ended ordering the super crunch roll because they make the Dragon roll differently from other sushi restaurants. My date ordered a variety of sushi rolls. I tasted a few of his rolls but we didn’t order a lot of food. While we were sitting there finishing up the last bottle of sake we notice the lights being turned out in around us and people vacuuming the floors… lol. The table across from us laughed and started collecting there things to go, the chef came to take our payment and out the door we went(just seemed a bit rude). The place is not the nicest, the sushi was decent, the service was a little shaky… Question is will we dine here again??? I think I will probably take that drive to Kennesaw.

I haven’t been to a Rusan’s in what seems like forever, and I was a bit hesitant considering the bad coverage they’ve been receiving lately. I went last night around 7 pm, and to my surprise, the food inspection score was a whopping 100. It was a bit empty and the waitresses treated us more like a burden. This is the only place I could get non-seafood sushi(allergies, boo) that were decent. I ordered the niku tataki(sp?), spicy chicken rolls and cream rill maki. The only one that was a bit I disappointing was the niku tataki considering that the wasabi was missing from below the beef and the beef was well done(it’s supposed to be medium rare). Will I go again? Probably.

I’m a big fan of the lunch buffet here. The sushi is not necessarily the best in town, but for all you can eat what can you really expect. I frequent this place at least once a month.

Update received a phone call from Thai Nguyan,(Ru San’s Restuarant Owner of Kennesaw and Midtown locations) on Friday Jan, 16, 2015. I informed him about the cockroach that was found in my noodles from the lunch buffet and how Kayla(the assistant manager) tried to justify the situation without being apologetic. I explained that I was sick after eating at his Ru San’s Kennesaw location. Knowing that i was very unhappy about what took place Mr. Ngygan had the audacity to ask if I would give them another chance and come back to have dinner… NOTHANKYOU! The owner is aware of the situation and explained to me that the bugs are in the walls in the restaurant and due to pest control coming out to spray the bugs are coming out of them. He was very apologitic, however still remains open knowing that this is a problem. Based off reviews this Ru San’s Kennesaw location now has a total of three seperate reports including mine about roaches found at their facality with in a six month period; you can find them on Unilocal! If he was concerned about his customers health he would close the doors of this Ru Sans Location and handle this problem in an appropriate manner. AWFUL. If you get it by the piece, you can probably make an affordable array yourself. The combo’s are an expensive, disgusting rip off. I had the protein bomb, thinking I would get alot to eat. Sure, there was alot of it, but like another reviewer said, things that should have been hot were not, and things that should have been cold were warm. The service also just plan stunk. I can honestly say I have NEVER had BAD sushi… until I ate at this place. Just terrible.

Not really sure what happened but the food used to be good. Some of the cooked items were cold, rice was mushy.

I got the buffet and it was bad. Some fish was slimy and it was poorly prepared. The hot food was cold incuding the soup. The service was good though. If you go, order from the menu instead.

You get what you pay for. About 1⁄3 of price of Nori Nori, but about 1⁄10 of quality of Nori Nori. Sushi were dead and cooked food was mediocre at best. Horrible, horrible atmosphere. Will never visit again.

I’m hard pressed to give this place one star. I have been to three other locations and this is the worst Ru San’s I’ve ever been to, and the worst sushi I’ve ever tasted. The Ru San’s location in midtown makes this place look like a joke. They should be ashamed, embarrassed, closed, and they should reimburse everyone who has ever eaten here. I am thoroughly disgusted. The people are friendly, I guess, but they should look a little closer at their food — GROSS.

In short, it’s not the nicest looking restaurant, but the food is very good and I feel like I can trust it. The place is pretty big. It would be good for an impromptu meeting or gathering. This particular location would not be my first choice for a party or celebration, though, because the overall vibe to me is dark, unfancy and not extremely pretty. There are two single bathrooms designated for men or women and they’re not the most pleasant. I feel like the place just needs sort of a clean slate or a pat on the back. Like a fresh coat of paint and some better matching accents. Anyway, since we are not on TLC’s Makeover Madess or whatever, I will say that the food, which is important, is very good. I came in and decided to do the lunch buffet for $ 9.95. I was surprised to see the sushi was cut very thin BUT I completely get it — It helps you be able to try more things before you get full, and you are not being shorted because it is a buffet! So eat twice as many if you need to! The buffet also has miso soup, chicken potstickers, spicy beef, carrots and broccoli, vegetable fried rice. I would actually give it like 3.5 stars but service is also great. Helpful, smiling faces and tasty, plentiful noms bump it up.

Let’s start with the thank you to all the staff. Thanks for the favor for allowing us to eat in your restaurant. Thanks for not speaking to us as we sat down. Thank you for explaining that lemon is simply not allowed in water at lunch, even if you ask politely.(But you can request it for any seafood, just not water!) No lemon for you! Thanks for the lack of flavor in the brown water you call soup. Thanks for looking down on me for asking for a fork instead of eating with two sticks. Let’s move to the food. Food was decent but felt like it was rushed. Methinks I shan’t return.
