Forgettable. It’s clean but just dull with an underwhelming selection. Keep driving.

I tried Rita’s for the first time the other day, and I’m still not sure how I feel about it. The flavor selection seemed small, yet confusing. What are they trying to sell? Ice, Custard, Cream Ice, MIsto… and other named concoctions only helped to confuse the situation. When trying to select a flavor, I didn’t know whether to look in the cooler(Baskin-Robbins) or at the soft-serve machines(Dairy Queen). It seems that Rita is having an identity crisis. The two(young) employees behind the counter really didn’t offer up much help, other than to offer a sample. I wanted the custard after hearing how good it can be. They had about 4 flavors. I was not impressed. I decided I could enhance the experience with a topping or two. They had about 4. Not impressed. I ended up spending just shy of $ 4 for a «regular» cup of chocolate custard with hot fudge topping. It was tasty, but not a craving buster. It tasted similar to Bruster’s Chocolate Chunk, only without the chunk. I might try it again, however I won’t be going out of my way.

I’m not impress, its about quality and quantity and I received neither. The fam. and I decided to give it a try although were Dairy Queen kinda folks, we went in with an open mind. My brother wanted plain vanilla ice cream and it was like 7 $ for this tiny cup that had literal three spoon fulls of ice cream. I’m thinking wow this must be some home churned, fire ice cream to be so high and receive so little, but it tasted just like the cheap no name brand ice cream I don’t even buy at Kroger. It’s okay but I’ve had better.

I decided to try Rita’s because everyone has been buzzing about it. I went with my parents to the location near their house because they received a buy two get one free coupon in their ValPak. I had reviewed the offerings online and had high hopes for this place. I ordered a cookies and cream blendini. They make it with frozen custard, Italian ice, and cookie pieces. Let me just say it came out looking nothing like the pictures on their website and didn’t taste like much of anything. I was rather disappointed. Maybe it was made wrong or something, I’m not really sure but it didn’t give me much incentive to go back. I think I’m going to stick with good ol’ fashioned ice cream.
