I had my living room, den, and upstairs hallway carpet«cleaned» on October 10, 2015. My carpet is only 8 months old and is a fairly expensive brand. We just wanted it refreshed. First off, the guy that arrived was in street clothes and in an older model, unmarked car. When I asked him about the process of how Oxi Fresh cleans the carpet, all I got was that it is a «thorough process». I was hesitant and I should have gone with my gut. They use 1 machine that looks like it has rollers instead of bristles. The carpet was pre-treated with some spray solution(that had an OK smell). Then he used the machine like a vacuum cleaner. After that was done, he sprayed another solution on the carpet in my living room and den — and didn’t come back over it with the machine. He said it was supposed to be just left on there. The carpet in all of the areas that were cleaned looked matted when the representative left. Later that night I noticed that the carpet in the living room and den was sticky — the upstairs hall was not sticky, it was only crunchy. Also, the LR and den carpet smelled awful! Like a mixture of chemical and body odor. Our carpet NEVER smelled before these guys«cleaned» our carpet. I called the company back and the owner came out a few days later and went over the living and den carpet again. The sticky residue appeared to be gone after that, and so did the smell; HOWEVER, the smell has since started to come back! I am a property appraiser and inspect apartments on a weekly basis — I am very familiar with old, run-down apartments and now the smell of our carpet is just like that, it really smells like chemical mixed with dirt, food, and body odor. Also, our carpet looks worn now and also has started to look dirty(only in the rooms they cleaned, though — the rooms they didn’t clean look and smell fine!) Now on to the Oxi Fresh company. I should have been more diligent and thought their website through — they have over 40,000 typed«testimonials», all of which are 5 out of 5 stars. Here’s the weird part: There is NOWHERE on their website to actually leave a testimonial. So how/where did these 40,000 people leave the feedback shown??? Something else a bit fishy: on October 23, there were many, many reviews written in California, which is in a time zone 3 hours behind the eastern zone where I am. I looked at these reviews at 3 pm eastern time, so that would be NOON in CA, and most of the reviews mentioned having their carpet cleaned that day(Oct 23) and«it was dry within a few hours, and the stains didn’t come back». Now let’s play this out… carpet guy comes at let’s say 8 am. He is done by 10 am. And sometime before noon a review is written saying that the carpet was already dry, and that the stains never came back. You wouldn’t know this yet, and there is no way that carpet would already be completely dry, trust me. What does this tell us ??? Their reviews are FAKE. And read the website’s Us vs. Competition — and also read what they write about their cleaning process. They never really explain how this machine extracts anything. All they say is that the dirt is encapsulated and lifted out. Well, I saw that machine after they were done, and there was NOTHING in the chamber(the chamber is clear, btw). Not really even any water. We are replacing the carpet in the living room and den due to the worn/ragged look and due to the smell. Don’t waste your time or money with this crock of a company.
