I grew up loving New Balance running and trail running sneakers. Back when I worked at a shoe store, which was literally called Sports Shoe, New Balances were still fairly inexpensive, yet durable and comfy. When I say inexpensive I mean they were a heck of a lot cheaper than Nike or Saucony running shoes, whose prices were hiked up so high you could barely manage to eat lunch for a week after purchasing a pair. I visited this New Balance brand shoe store last Saturday and I was shocked by the ridiculous prices for shoes. The cheapest pair was $ 90??? What is the world coming to? I guess it can all be attributed to that supply and demand theory or whatever that I remember learning in Economics. Okay, so the shoes are pretty popular now. That is no reason to hike your prices up to nearly $ 100 a pair and not sell any shoes that are not on sale. Mr. New Balance, you are beginning to act like your spoiled snobby predecessor Nike. The people who bought your shoes made the purchase because the price was low and the shoe was great. I guess I will just have to go down the street to some other shoe store and find some shoes on sale. I hope you and your high prices are happy together.
