Awesome dinner. Scallops were tender and her steak was seasoned well. Dessert was a little off. Crème brûlée was in s shallow dish and needed more custard. Overall will definitely go back.

Passing through Marietta on business, I was intrigued by the business name, and stopped in to check out the wine selection. I had the good fortune to meet Sally, the owner, who is very wine knowledge. We discovered we both share an appreciation for Napa wines and she introduced me to a new and excellent selection. I didn’t have time to dine, but look forward to sampling the food the next time I am in Marietta. What a nice gem in a small town.

I have only eaten there once since the current owners took over. The food was very good. The parking lot is always full. The food is expensive. Our meals with appetizer and desserts was about $ 100, and that was two adults and two children. Lots of people go there but it didn’t really make me want to go back. Maybe that’s just me.

As good as it gets. Yes’ir. Quite possibly the best burger I’ve eaten in a restaurant. A simple burger CAN be that good. My husband and mother-in-law both raved about their meals. Just a little restaurant that opens to the liquor store, but don’t be fooled by the uninspired atmosphere. In fact, I think they’ve added a patio — or added on to the restaurant side. Obviously the wine list is yum-o. Can’t speak for the cocktails. Service was friendly and fast. Score. If you’re looking for a really good meal for not a lot of money, head for House of Wines!

I haven’t eaten here but I would like to try it as rumor has it, the food is good. As far as the wine selection, it is so so, but the mitigating factor is that there is also a really good beer selection. I am a little more forgiving when I know I can buy my Kung Fu Girl and Chimay under the same roof. The next time I am in town I plan to eat dinner here and update my review.

Wow! Random find in SE Ohio. This was our first stop here for eats but will definitely be going back and I expect I will be increasing the rating! Fantastic lunch and everyone I was with loved their food. Somewhat limited menu and the food took longer than I would expect from such a small business, which are the only reason I’m giving this lower marks. There was nothing really to drive the rating down other than this, and the fact I would like to go back and try their dinner menu. Certainly a place worth checking out if you are in the Marietta area!

What a delicious place to eat! I went here with a beautiful girl for lunch on tuesday, was greeted and sat immediately, had an early dinner that night so just went for a few appetizers to try the selection. It was my first time dining there, the weekend before I attended the beer festival held there every year, which deserved 5 stars of its own! The food was quick and was all perfect temperature, the Onion soup was so good! The margarita flat bread was awesome too! My favorite might have been the mac n cheese though! We picked out a bottle of white wine for lunch and they allow you to chill it right there and we drank if for lunch, no huge mark ups like normal resturants on wine! My date loved it as well, she had a great time and can’t wait to go back for a full meal at dinner! It was a very romantic yet casual lunch and the staff was great! Paige did a great job as our waitress! Prices were very fair, a must try in area! Ask for sally the manager, she will take care of you!

The House of Wines is one of the best restaurants in the Mid Ohio Valley. The food is fantastic. I always get the crock and a half. Bowl of Swiss Onion soup and Rueben. Fantastic selection of beer and wine. The cigar selection is limited but the prices are very good. The owners and staff are really friendly and knowledgable about their products. Would recommend it to anyone!

I have been wanting to make the trip to try this place for some time and am glad to have waited for the new owners — so sweet, so savvy, so many choices. This is not a place to go when you want a quick bite, but when you want to linger in the wine shop while you think about what to pair with your Swiss onion soup(which I would give 5 stars). The staff is so helpful with wine choices and ‘wine 101′ for the novice. If you want to take your sweetheart for a nice afternoon drive on 339⁄802 from Marietta to Beverly, cross the Muskingum, loop back on 60 South to Marietta, stop at the House of Wine for a romantic, eclectic afternoon bite, and pick up a bottle of vino for your evening!

An absolutely unassuming place with delicious food and an amazing selection of wines. The owners are a young couple… he the chef and she an expert in wines! This restaurant was recommended by the locals and didn’t disappoint! I had the special(on my first visit) of braised short ribs with parsnip purée and roasted vegetables, with the roasting jus. It was so good I had to come back today to try more! So today I came back had the house made sourdough pretzel bites with beer cheese. Omg. The best pretzels and cheese I’ve ever had! Then I had the seared scallops with roasted cauliflower and fingerling potatoes. Wow. Perfectly cooked and tender scallops. Would absolutely stop again the next time I pass through town!

Sort of odd setup, with a restaurant surrounding a beer/wine retail store. It is not off-putting at all, just unusual. Actually feels very natural and comfortable. Store has very good beer and wine selection, best I’ve seen in the area. Restaurant has a diverse and creative menu, and the food is pretty good. Offerings span daily charcuterie and cheese plate selections, various starters, salads, burger, wraps, steak, risotto, seafood. Our starter plates(truffle-roasted asparagus and seasonal gnocchi) were better than entrees(flatiron steak and cordon bleu sammich). Service was good enough. The real star is the vibe. The restaurant is in a stand-alone building a few miles out of town, perched on the Muskingum River amid scenic countryside. The dining rooms and especially bar area are lived-in and inviting. The back patio area is casual, in a great spot on the river. Very pleasant place to polish off a bottle of vin. Speaking of which: here you can select and purchase a bottle of wine from the store at retail price and have it immediately served to you in the restaurant. That’s awesome. The staff can even flash-chill whites off the shelf from room temp to drinkable in 5 – 10 mins. One drawback: only 2 – 3 draft beers, though the bottle selection of the restaurant menu is pretty decent, and you could probably buy something at the store and drink it at the table. Still, quality over quantity is fine by me: one of the drafts on my first visit was the monster 471 Small Batch IPA from Breckenridge Brewery, which is stupendous.

Exceptional food, great selection of beer and wine. My favorite entrée — The scallops are delicious… Plump, tender and seared on the grill. I’ve tried all the entrees and they are all great! Ownership change in 2012 has made a dramatic, positive difference.

While I haven ‘t eaten here, I’ve heard good things about the cuisine. However, the other day I stopped by to check out the beer selection, as I’d also heard that they have a great craft beer selection. That turned out to be true, and I was delighted to see that they had 6 packs of the always excellent seasonal from Bells Brewing, the hopslam double IPA. In fact, this place has a sizeable selection of craft beer from around the region and county. The young woman working the cash register was also friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. OK. That’s the good news. The bad news is that with such a sizeable inventory, some things don’t move very quickly and freshness can be an issue. Unfortunately, I picked up a couple bottles of a West Coast IPA(Sculpin from Ballast Point Brewing) that were nearly two months past the«enjoy by this day» date. For some beers(stouts, barleywines, strong ales, etc.) that’s not a problem, but it’s a big problem for hoppy IPA’s. Alas, I didn’t notice that the beers were too old until I got them home and opened one. The beer tasted off, and at that point I noticed the small print at the bottom of the label(my bad for not looking more closely at the label while I was in the store). Oh well, easy come, easy go, but I would highly recommend that anyone else buying beer here check the label for freshness or ask the staff how long the beer has been sitting on the shelf.

AMAZINGFOOD, WINE, ANDBEER!!! I was a little reluctant going in, because of the look of the place, but boy was I wrong to even hesitate. The staff knew what they were doing. The selection is the best I’ve seen in the area(Parkersburg to Athens included). And can I just talk about the Scallops and Risotto? PHENOMENAL. Prices are amazing. Selection, let me restate, so so soooooo good. A MUST visit if you are in the area and have ANY taste.

This place is a beer/wine shop and bar/restaurant. Although I noticed that the bar had a decent beer menu, I did not eat there so I will confine my review to just the beer shop aspect. I came here with high expectations after hearing good things about the place. And when I walked in, I was a bit disappointed because the«volume» or amount of beer on the shelves(and lined up on the floor) was less than I expected. But upon closer inspection, this guy is clearly going for quality over quantity– Southern Tier, Alesemith, Green Flash, Ballast Point just to name a few. Kind of a kooky place, kinda hard to find(at least by land), but definitely worth a look if you are beer shopping.

LOVED it! AGAIN. Still rate the Reuben and the Swiss Onion Soup as MUSTHAVE! The dock was closed… so I am not sure you can park your boat on the river anymore. :( But, we bought the T-shirt…we might have to become«regulars». :)
