Let me start by establishing a few things about myself/the stylist/the visit: 1. I worked retail in various capacities for 10 years. I’m in finance now, but still serving customers in the form of brokers for whom I underwrite. 2. I made an appointment on this particular date before it was deemed one of the worst days to drive in Atlanta traffic, ever. I work in Dunwoody, and had to leave early to drive 2.5 hours to get my hair cut. I had put it off for way too long. 3. Brandy, my stylist, is amazing. She is an acquaintance who I was interested in patronizing because I like her style. I am extremely happy with her work, and impressed with her expertise, respect for my needs, and welcoming, professional vibe. 4. I negotiate and make decisions for a living. I’m not from the south. I do not put out the true or false cream puff southern lady vibe. I have resting b*tch face. Let’s get down to it: Following my 2.5 hour drive for which I had to leave work early, I arrived at the salon, looking forward to my haircut. It’s a huge, clean space(though I didn’t see the waxing area), which offers an array of services located very conveniently to the square. I considered how nice it would be to have a day spa near my office that I could walk to for a massage on my lunch break. There were two women at the front desk, and I learned later that one of them was the owner, Clair. This is where the issues started. I greeted her and told her that I had an appointment with Brandy, and the time. She rolled her eyes and grimaced, then told me she wasn’t sure that Brandy was going to show up to the appointment. I was confused at this point, as Brandy was nothing short of thorough and professional when I scheduled the appointment. So, I asked her, is she coming, or not? If not, I would have been highly irritated, but also would have cut my losses and gone home to finish my work, before a social engagement later in the evening. I expressed that I would definitely be aggravated if the stylist did not show, as I had driven rather far in really dense traffic to make it on time(I was about 30 minutes early, and was not expecting to be served as soon as I got there. I am early for everything.) Clair responded, saying that she just didn’t know, and that I could leave if I wanted to. I was extremely confused and uncomfortable, and asked if I could use the restroom, since I had been in my car for so long. I messaged Brandy to tell her that some woman at the salon was sh*t talking her and saying that she wasn’t going to show up. I exited the bathroom, and proceeded to the waiting area that I was pointed to when I arrived. Clair or her silent minion(I can’t remember) directed me to it when I asked, saying they guessed I could sit there. You know, because I was about to spend money there on a haircut. It was still not my appointment time. Again, I fully expected to wait a bit, having showed up 30 minutes early. I know not everyone is as punctual as I am. Brandy showed up and apologized, which wasn’t necessary because she was about 15 minutes early, having run home during a break between clients. Totally reasonable, and I wasn’t upset about that aspect, but definitely uncomfortable from talking with Clair. Clair comes flying around the corner in a huff to confront me about my statement that she was saying degrading things about Brandy. I answered in the affirmative that I had said that, and I was extremely put off by our exchange at my arrival, which made me the opposite of relaxed, in a day spa, having been made to feel that way by the owner, a position she proudly announced to me when I asked in what capacity she worked there. She wanted to keep arguing with me, while Brandy was standing by, ready to style my hair. I held up my hand and asked her if it was common practice for her to confront her clients, and stating that she had nothing to argue with me about. I guess that made her mad, because she kept trying to argue with me about whether or not I said what I said. I had already owned the fact that I had made the statement, but I guess she wanted to intimidate me or something. True story from my retail history: a woman threatened my life at the sprint store where I worked. I calmly dismissed her from my store, and called the police regarding the threats. If you’ve seen the Gordon Ramsay show with Amy’s Bakery, and witnessed how those owners acted, that’s very close in aesthetic to what I experienced at Hair Art. Clair kept coming at me, and I told her to get away, and that she could eat a f*cking d*ck. She said she was going to tell people I cussed at her. Go ahead, Clair. I just told them here, and I don’t care what you say. She was acting like a rabid cat in heat, because I guess she thought she could intimidate me. I understand taking pride in your business, but I take pride in closing millions of dollars in loans per week. That doesn’t mean I try to intimidate people. Clair was not professional, and really, really crazy.

I’m kind of sad to give them such a low score, but I really feel they could step their game up. We had a mother daughter day outing in which we got manis and/or pedis. I personally had the reflexology pedi. One person serviced the three of us, so the appointment was over two hours. My feet boiled in scalding hot water for the entire two hours. My massage chair was broken, the air conditioning was either off or broken as well. So I was literally sweating the whole time. The paraffin machine was also broken so my youngest daughter could only get a basic service. My eldest daughter, had a mani pedi. Her feet were also boiling, but at least her massage chair worked. The French tip pedi was hideous and the nails were just so-so. After spending nearly $ 150 on services, I expected more! On the flip side, the staff was super sweet and the place was very clean.
