The food was ok but the environment was very nasty people hanging outside drunk… not to mention the customer service sucked!!!

This is my go to place. It’s convenient(I can order and pay online, leave work and stop and pick up on the way home .) The food is good, the portions are fairly sizeable and the prices are decent. Tonight’s order did not go well. I went to pick it up and it was missing my order of chicken wings. They tried telling me I didn’t order any, until I pointed them out on the receipt stapled to the rest of the order. Then one of them insisted they were in the bag. No, a 20 piece order of rims was not in the bag. Since I paid in advance(and wanted the wings for later in the week) I waited. It took 15 minutes and I got a perfunctory apology. I guess I should be grateful for that? Mistakes can happen. But admit it right away, and don’t take a long time to make it right. It will be a while before I come back.

File this baby under, «I should have referenced Unilocal first.» I’d had a long day. Had travel on the docket for the following day. The weather was icky, and gave me a case of the«blahs». These are all excuses surrounding why I would be so foolish as to make a GrubHub order and not take the time to do my research on Unilocal.NEVER. AGAIN. Still being new in town, I have yet to find my «go to» Chinese delivery place. If I want something other than the usual, Americanized Chinese, I have grown to automatically dial up Golden Buddha 7 in Smyrna… but I felt like I should try another spot or two before giving GB7 my full commitment. This, combined with their wait time being the shortest(THAT was a lie… more on that later), is how I ended up ordering from China Star. The only thing that was«fast» about how China Star served up dinner was how quickly they took my money. Payment was processed at 7:03pm. I received the alert that food would arrive between 8:05pm-8:15pm. Based on the other reviews here, I probably don’t have to tell you that the food didn’t arrive until about 8:40pm. Even weirder, I wasn’t asked to sign anything as one usually might — the dude just handed me a bag with barely a hello, and took off. Weird, but whatever. Small, nitpicky thing: I specified that they should not include forks, napkins, etc. But of course, they did. I know this is an option that GrubHub attaches to all its restaurants, but it’s a small thing with which they could comply and show some thoughtfulness. Another environmentally annoying note: EVERYTHING comes in styrofoam.(This will be an important note for later.) Okay — on to the food. The order consisted of boneless spare ribs, an order of dumplings, and the hibachi noodles with shrimp, crab, and scallops. I will say this — China Star sends some pretty honkin’ big portions. The noodles in particular were borderline intimidating, because a heaping portion in a big styrofoam container is a LOT, even for someone who purposely over-orders like me. Boneless spare ribs, in my experience, can be pretty great(particularly when they’re longer, slimmer pieces with a nice sizzle to them), or pretty icky. The icky usually are strips, probably had nothing to do with a rib, and are coated in a gloppy, overly-sweet sauce. One good way to identify what you’re about to receive is to note the packaging. More often than not, the good kind will come in one of those little foil-lined bags(usually red and white on the outside — I swear they’re standard issue). The bad will often be floppy — gummy, yet tough — and some in either a folding paper container or styrofoam. Remember what I said everything was boxed in? Bingo. Hence, subpar boneless spare ribs. The dumplings were serviceable. Unextraordinary at best — the sauce was very standard, absent of scallions or any of the other goodies often floating therein. Nothing especially flavorful or juicy going on here… but if you like a simple, very basic dumpling, these might work for you. As for the noodles… like I said, there were a LOT of flippin’ noodles. Not much in the way of the promised shrimp, scallops, or(fake) crab — call it 5 middling-to-small shrimp, and a few sparse slices(SLICES) of scallop and faux crab — but noodles? Noodles for days. The noodles themselves were, again, serviceable. Not devoid of flavor, but nothing special or dazzling. The texture of the actual noodles was good — they were appropriately chewy — I just wish they’d been a part of something a little more«special». OH. The seafood sauce they included. It bears mentioning. On occasions when I’ve had takeout hibachi, I’ve had«Tiger sauce» or similar — a white sauce with some kick. You can imagine my shock when China Star’s «seafood sauce» was basically a weirdly sweet mayo. Not tartar sauce, not Miracle whip, but some other strange, thick, plain white substance. Just NO. The two stars are for the ok dumplings and the massive amount of leftover noodles that I’ll be repurposing into something else more interesting… but I’m not likely to order up from CS again.

Unfortunately 1 star is as low as you can give them! 1st– no one speaks English when you call. 2nd– their Hibachi steak is nothing more then their stir fry with the broccoli removed! 3rd– they refused to give me a refund when i showed up to return the $ 17 meal. 4th– had to speak with the owner, he was an asshole and refused to refund my money, claiming that that was the way they made it. 5th– cops got involved and owner finally agreed to let me order something else. 6th– i ordered $ 17 worth of wings, this is what i was charged for the first meal. 7th– owner has the nerve to call me, bitching about how much i ordered but not the balls to come get more money! If i had seen the place prior to ordering, i would have never gotten food from this place. Nasty is too nice of a word to describe it!!! If you want shitty service, even shittier food, and a chance of catching salmonella, then this is the place for you!!! Oh and I’m not actually stupid enough to eat the new food. It went straight into the trash when i left!

I am yet another grub hub victim! I was craving pad thai and didn’t think there was any possible way to screw up throwing a few noodles in a box and bringing them to me. Ha! I was so wrong. I waited 30 minutes after the delivery time which was already an hour before I called the restaurant. The guy who answered the phone sounded aggrevated and told me the order was on the way. When it finally showed up it was GROSS! Soggy noodles, a sweet sauce, veggies that don’t belong in pad thai. I wasn’t expecting fine thai dining from the China Star lol but I was expecting a little better. Won’t be ordering again.

I was staying at a hotel in Atlanta between traveling and found a menu to this restaurant under my room door. It seemed more than perfect because nothing else was around and this place was fairly close. I was also a bit under the weather so soup sounded great. My boyfriend ordered for us online. However, we did not get our food until over an hour and a half later. When the food finally arrived it was completely the wrong order. We were not even able to identify some of the dishes. Gross! And of course they forgot my soup. To make matters worse by the time we received our order the restaurant was closed so we couldn’t even call and ask for an exchange. Stay far away from this place!

Absolutely disgusting! Ordered some dumplings and twice cooked pork. Barely finished the dumplings and started with the pork, I took a bite and my appetite was completely gone. I guess the food did its job but I had a stomach bug for abut three days and lived in the bathroom and now I have to waste money on more toilet paper. If you don’t enjoy food or on a strict diet and have a bunch of money to waste this would be a great place for you

I ordered from Grubhub — I love grubhub but please notify this company that I ordered from that they have completely lost my business as a first time customer. My order arrived 40 minutes after its scheduled time, a young girl delivered my food and told me to pay cash. I informed her that this was incorrect, I paid on line and luckily I had a Grubhub rep on the phone with me to clarify the order. I went inside, bewildered, and then there was a knock on my door and I opened it to find a different woman at my front door demanding I pay cash. She spoke with the grubhub rep and after hanging up explained that the restaurant had been getting prank orders and that everyone’s orders had been pushed back. She told me that it was her 12 year old daughter that delivered my food(insane, right?). I inquired as to why I was not notified with a phone call or anything and all she said that no one got a call and that there was a new employee at the store making mistakes. She also said that everyone was dealing with prank calls from a nearby hotel. Lost my business. Wish I never even paid for them. As a general manager of a restaurant I feel like the manager could have used better management skills in order to retain their customers. If I found out that my employee’s daughter was delivering I would be extremely upset . Thanks to Grub Hub I got $ 20 in credit that I can use anywhere. DONOTEATHERE. Food wasn’t even worth it.

Placed a order online. Was given a delivery time of just over 1 hour and 2 minutes At 2 hours I called and was told the order had left over 20 mins ago. Was put on hold for another 5 min and I hung up. Called back and then my door bell rings with the order. Girl was talking on the phone what sounded like some friend of hers the way she was laughing. Food was cold and I had to microwave it. Food was ok but not worth the wait time. Almost 2 and a half hour wait for a place less then 4 miles away. You can do the math. If I was paying with cash I would have told her to keep it.

I ordered thru GrubHub with no problems at all. However, almost an hour and a half later my food had not arrived. After a hangry call to grubhub customer service they informed me it would be another 15 mins and I got a coupon on my Grub deals. So far, I haven’t gotten my food so I can’t comment on the Pad Thai. it’s hard to mess up throwing noodles in a box and driving 4 miles down the road. Props to GrubHub, but I won’t be ordering from China Star again after seeing that this is a trend with them. Go with DaVinci’s. They say 45 mins, but deliver in 30 max. Update! Soggy food! Specifically asked for chop sticks, got fork!

This was my 2nd time ordering — used GrubHub to place the order so some of the issues may be because of that. I ordered Mongolian Beef lunch special and was given a choice of what side I wanted so I chose chicken wing. I received Beef and Broccoli and a side of an eggroll. I had also ordered a side of Spring Rolls, which did come as ordered. The Beef and Broocoli was bland and not what I wanted. The beef was tough and stringy. I will say the Broccoli was cooked quite well — not mushy but very tender. The Spring rolls are just cabbage(no other filling) in a wrapper. Definitely not worth the price which is more than the eggrolls. The eggrolls were passable but nothing special. I doubt I’ll be ordering from here again or if I do maybe just get the wings which I’ve heard are pretty decent.

General Tso lunch combo with eggroll is good. Had a few times and was consistently good. Pad Thai was not authentic and tasted nothing like Pad Thai. First time ordered online was perfect. Food was ready upon pickup. 2nd time, they cooked my food when I got there and I had to wait 25 mins when they had no other customers. I’m still going back because of price, convenience, and general tso combo.
