Sad to report… Abecedarius is now closed. It was a great store and will be sorely missed by all of the cross stitchers in this area.

Based on my single phone call to this store, I can confidently say that barring a cross stitch emergency, I will not be doing any business here. The person who answered the phone was rude and short with me and I only had her on the phone for 5 minutes! I cannot imagine actually coming into the store what kind of attitude I would receive.

The place is well-stocked, but that’s all I can say for it. Every time I’ve been in, the staff have been rude. If you don’t do reproduction samplers, their opinion of you is low, and it shows. I’d much rather shop online than spend my money with rude people.

I have shopped at this store for years! Great selection, very helpful, and will always order whatever you need if she doesn’t have it. Best needlepoint/cross-stitch store I have found in the area by far.

A very nice store. A lot of patterns and stitch supplies. When I shopped there, I asked the store owner several questions. She was very helpful. She gave me suggestions on what frame to use, how I can replace beads with stitches, and where to find rare patterns. I found lovely patterns and enjoyed my shopping experience. This place has a large collections of patterns. She has a huge catalog so if she does not have the pattern in store, she can order it for you. Since the store is in a shopping center, the parking is not a problem at all, and the place is easy to find.

This store is easily one of the best kept secrets in Atlanta. After quite a few years away, I’m in the process of getting back into cross-stitching. Most of my crafty friends are into knitting, so other than the big chain stores(Michael’s, JoAnn’s, etc.), I didn’t know of a good store that stocked a lot of cross stitch supplies. The bigger stores have a limited selection of patterns and tend to have duplicate items. I did a Google search, and found out that Abecedarius is located only about 15 minutes or so away. I went and checked them out, and they’re a cross stitcher’s dream come true! They have a great selection and specialize in nothing but cross stitch… floss(also known as thread), patterns, notions, fabrics, you name it. They’re very knowledgeable and helpful, and will gladly special order for you. I definitely look forward to shopping there again soon!

I’ve been visiting several times in the last few weeks, due to the threat of impending closure(fight with the landlord over the lease), and I still love this place. Susan, the owner, had gone above and beyond in customer service. She’s ordered the floss that had run out, then called me to notify me that it was there. She’s also put in another order and offered to mail it to me! She’s got so much expertise that she loves to share with those interested in stitching. If you’ve ever thought about trying cross stitch, do yourself a favor and check this place out.
