Food was below average… too noisy for large group. Service was decent although recommended dishes were not very good. Black and bleu salad had tough meat, too many onions, wilted greens and dressing similar to airplane meal food. Should have sent back but caved to the pressure of being with a group. Don’t plan to return–

The place is super cute. Our waitress was a little annoying. I had the Georgian with sweet potato fries. My husband had the steak burger with home fries. The home fries were super greasy. The buns tasted like they were the ones you could buy at a grocery store. Overall, not impressed.

Went there for lunch today and I was very pleased. Service was prompt and very pleasant. Our waitress very helpful with the menu and specials. The food is not over priced and came out quick from the kitchen. And above all was very good. I would go back for lunch. They also had great drink specials — maybe for after work!

Nice little dive. Good food and prices. Burgers have a wonderful taste. Nice size for the price. Menu has it as 6 oz but I think they are a bit larger. No need to double it(add $ 2). The Georgia BBQ Burger comes with crispy onions and BBQ sauce. The sauce is a bit overpowering. Maybe skip the sauce or get it on side and add it in moderation. NOLA is a good just basic burger. We added 2 cheeses(+ $.50 each). Black and Bleu also a good taste. It seems the«bleu» is only bleu cheese dressing. It needs some crumbles. You just don’t get the Bleu Cheese bite without them. Fries ok but go for the homemade chips or potato wedges instead much better with no up charge. Sweet potato fries available as well. Overall good place.

Good burger. Decent fish and chips. Some of the chips were a bit soggy. Might be a personal preference, but I prefer them crispy. Super nice staff. We went on a Groupon and probably will go back.

Just one block over from the Marietta Square (OK, OK… I get it — Ha!) 1 Block Over is a cute little restaurant, new to Downtown Marietta also known as the Marietta Square. We were recently in the square for the Tuesday Night Local Music in the Square, but I’m assuming they canceled due to the weather, so we decided to grab a bite to eat. We parked near this place, so we walked right in. Now for a brief moment I thought maybe the place was closed(I didn’t see anyone) until I notice the greeter walking around the corner. We were greeted and seated right away. Our waitress was this sweet bubbly young lady. She gave us the run down on the drink specials and the menu specials. This particular evening they we having a wing special BOGO Free… So we basically got 16 wings for 8.99 —(score!!!), lemon pepper and hot, we also ordered fries as a side and then potatoes wedges from the appetizer menu. The potatoes wedges were served with ranch dressing. Now, while the wedges and the fries were yummy and seasons perfectly, served hot out of the grease… the wings were a challenged, some were fried way to hard and hardly any sauce on them. In my opinion, they really need to invest in a better recipe for lemon pepper wings, we could barely taste the seasoning. I ended up taking them home and asking for more hot sauce for the other 8 wings. The menu is fully loaded, but the food options are off, in my opinion they are not best. The weird thing about it, is that they don’t have one thing that they specialize in making, the menu is all over the place. They have everything from burgers to pasta and also everal different salads to add on the meat of your choice. I don’t recall seeing any desserts on the menu. I Block Over has a great drink menu and a full bar!!! They have $ 5 signature drinks and $ 2 beer’s.I cheated on my tequila and I ended ordered the electric lemonade $ 7(made with Vodka) which had me sweating after drinking only half —(I’m a light weight drinker) lol … So this is definitely a great spot for happy hour. It would be nice if they could create a nice bar menu, I could easily become a regular. :-) The atmosphere was very nice & quiet, kinda dark and laid back. Oh, and let me not forget the Kennesaw Cheerleaders, because Kennesaw State is now in Marietta also the Kennesaw State cheerleaders came in to give us a cheer during our visit… It was cute. The restaurant was extremely clean, which is why I don’t understand why a fruit fly tried to ruin our meal. It would not go away for nothing in the world, I kept swatting at it and almost spilled my drink. I teased with the waitress about me being so sweet and all was the reason it wouldn’t go, but I was really bothered. I didn’t hold it against the restaurant, because I do believe that some thing are beyond their control, with that being said, if I’m in the square and I’m near, I just may swing thru and check them out again.

Friendly staff, good prices, great food! Very good burger and sirloin steak. Onion straws and Barbeque sauce were good as well. The only item they need to add is bread with the non-sandwich items. Will def recommend to others and we will be back!

Not much to say, boring menu nothing much to it. Service was very slow and the waiters seem to lack the customer service skills. Will not be going back aa there are far better options on the square.

My first trip here was less than par. Prime rib, an expensive cut of meat, should be served on a warm ceramic plate with a steak knife not on a plastic plate. Staff should have known to serve the prime rib with a steak knife & not have the customer flag them down for one. The asparagus was way over cooked and to oily. My companion asked for Swiss cheese with her burger, and they gave her cheddar. Our pineapple martini needed some more syrup and as well as something else to give it some real flavor. We sent it back We were 1 of only 2 tables in the place. Needless to say we weren’t pleased BUT will give them another try since they just opened. However they really need to work out the kinks.

I brought a group of nine to eat dinner after a wonderful performance on The Strand in Marietta. Based on the Unilocal reviews listed, we were looking forward to trying this place. The manager was friendly and the restaurant looked nice. The server at first seemed efficient and friendly– unfortunately, that did not last long. He gave us misinformation about the price of the drinks, had difficulty taking the orders, one member of our party did not receive our dinner until MUCH later(I think her dinner was overlooked!) My fish and chips were very good. The Sangria was awful. But it was the service that was truly one of the worst I have ever seen– we arrived at 4:30 and I left at 6:40PM and I was one of the first to leave! I explained to the waiter I had to be somewhere before 7:00PM and he took my credit card but never came back!!! Speaking of credit card– I was overcharged, and so were several in our group who paid by credit and debit! One friend had to come to the restaurant in person to take care of her bill! I called my credit card company and they said that I was correctly charged the FIRST time, but had a SECOND transaction that was overcharged! If you go– pay in cash! Very disappointed. TIP to the restaurant– please train your staff first before they begin their job!

Went here for lunch today. Less crowded that I expected for lunchtime on a Thursday. The waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable, the service was fast, and the food was fantastic and inexpensive! My wife got the buffalo shrimp wrap with fries, and I got the Georgean(«Make it a double») Burger with fries. Both came out hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked. I was shocked by the size of the burger(my fault for misreading the menu), and to be honest, this burger gave The Vortex’s burgers a run for their money! When the check finally came, I was shocked again at how low it was. I hope they are able to maintain such excellent quality and service! I look forward to returning.

I’ve had better steak and cheese sandwiches at hooters. The staff seemed nice but the food seemed microwaveable and at least my sandwich was incredibly greasy. It felt like the resturant equivalent of meeting a date rapist, good looking but superficial on the outside and you end up leaving the encounter feeling like someone violated your insides. Bottom line with all the places on the square with quality food this place can’t compete.

I love trying new things places on the square. I’m not sure what I was expecting from this restaurant, but I can tell you what to expect. It’s ran by an amazing manager with staff that has great customer service. I can’t complain about my experience here. I came here for a casual lunch. They have typical«American Bar Food.» No wow factor, but good affordable meals. I was addicted to eating the home made chips. Yum! I want to come back && try the seafood broil!

Miss Heidi took care of me at the bar and the kitchen staff did the same! Created my own burger cooked medium with cheddar. I will dream about this burger. The guy’s Kansas City strip next to me at the bar looked phenomenal. Potato wedges good and hot out of the fryer. Accommodated families in the main restaurant area. My cocktail was good strength. You will want to loop around the block and look for parking. That’s a given for the Marietta Square.

Special tonight was the low country boil. Both of the ladies had it and were impressed. The shrimp were cooked to perfection . They were not happy with their Sangria. I had the Prime Rib salad with Blue Cheese. Very good and would order again. Blue Cheese dressing was one of the best I’ve had. Appetizers were Swedish meatballs and shrimp/grits. Both were very good and we would order again. Zin Zang Bloody Mary was very good. We will return and would recommend 1 Block Over to all our friends.

Food was tasty. Would be wise not to seat guests by the server station/drink cubby — we had a herd of waitstaff alongside our table the entire meal.

Hopes dashed! Folks on Facebook spoke so highly of the newest restaurant just off the Marietta Square, 1 Block Over so we gave it a try on Friday night about 7. It’s got a 100 health score! Of course it just opened… We were happy with the small selection of draft beers and our very cheery waitress left to bring them. 10 minutes later we had our beers and the water we requested but no opportunity to order and we were HUNGRY. Another 10 minutes and we got our chance… we ordered up some potato wedges for an appetizer. Alas the Garden Burger was not housemade per our waitress, it’s a frozen product. So my dining companion opted for the vegetarian Garden District pasta. I ordered the fish and chips which comes with a side of coleslaw. More waiting ensued. About 20 minutes later we had potato wedges, golden brown, hot from the fryer with a crispy tempura like batter shell, served with a very mild blue cheese dressing. We gobbled it down and anticipated what was still to come. Another 20 plus minutes and the entrees arrived but no longer hot, now just room temperature which is never desirable for fried foods, especially the housemade chips. Half of them were limp. The fish had a nice crunchy cornmeal coat but if it had only been HOT… ugh. My partner was similarly disappointed by the attractive dish so colorful with fresh vegetables but luke warm and lacking in seasoning. I’m going to hope these are growing pains for this new place. There were some glimmers of hope… if the dishes had come hot from the kitchen… if the veggie burger were made on the premises… if there had been a full serving of pasta in the entrée and some seasoning. Time will tell. Someone else will have to try it and write to draw us back in again.
