Very nice owners and staff, food was on point. The café con leche was great and the tostones were really tasty. Must get the cuban sandwich as cliché as it sounds but its really good.

Went there for breakfast with my husband who is Hispanic. We stayed standing up for 5 minutes and the lady who was behind the counter didn’t acknowledge us, she was on a personal call. It’s a lady who had just started her shift that helped up. She was super nice, she mostly spoke to my husband since he spoke Spanish, her English wasn’t that good. The food was ok, I was expecting a lot more flavor. Once she took our order the service was really quick.

Well, my first time today based on other Unilocaler’s Reviews. Place is clean and orderly. Staff cordial and attentive. I ordered shredded beef, yellow rice, red beans and plantain. Temperature was fantastic. Food good and hot(it was take out) and still hot when I got home. Visually, the food looks very good. Taste? Too much salt in the beef and not enough … flavor or seasoning. Plantains(only 2 pieces) were about 2 inches long each. Red beans were, ok. Nothing had any real Cuban flavor. Family owned and operated. Maybe La Abuela is needed for that homemade flavor. I ate about ¼ of the food and then thought, this isn’t worth the calories. If I’m gonna eat this many calories, it has to have SOMEKIND of flavor. Gave some of the beef to the dog, and threw the rest away. Probably won’t be back, I dunno.

This is another one of Margate’s hidden restaurants that is just is awesome. It’s a small Resturant/Café that delivers in a big way. Food has always been great with authentic flavored. You may say who the hell am I to say what’s authentic at this Latin Café. Well it’s the people. They welcome you and make you feel welcome in there café. The food is really great. Coffee is perfect every time. Oh! One other thing. This is another place the locals highly recommend. So get there early as the items on the menu do run out. That’s just a sign of just how good the food is.

This place is amazing! First time here, was very impressed. Food was so good that I almost felt bad paying only 7.50 for it. There’s not a thing on the menu more the 8.50EXCEPT the oxtail only served on Fridays for 11.99. They can easily get 10.50 for the plate I ate today for 7.50. The owner came out to greet us and shake my hand I was very very impressed ! Will be back 100%! I recommend to any one looking for authentic Latin food at a crazy low price

Little places like these are all over Miami, I am so glad there is finally one nearby. The food is just like made at home, their coffee never disappoints and the service is beyond excellent in a family atmosphere. The owner(Alex) is normally around and always making sure his customers are well taken care of. As if that wasn’t enough, the prices are incredible!

So after reading many reviews I decided to check this place out. I had the Carne a la milanesa(steak milanese) and my husband had the masitas de puerco(pork chucks). The food was fresh the owners and staff were friendly I would definitely come back here.

Excellent Latin food. The Flawn was the best I’ve ever had and the steak sandwich they put the little crunchy french fries on it spectacular. Found it by accident will definitely be back

Just tried out the Latin Café for the first time. It opened a few weeks ago, according to the fellow that I spoke with, Alex. It’s a small place, tucked away in a tiny shopping center across State Road 7 from the U-Haul complex in Margate. It would be easy to miss, especially since the Unilocal map shows it in the wrong location! But do yourself a favor, DON’T miss it! I had the roast pork with black beans and white rice. The pork was tender, tasty, and moist. The black beans were traditionally seasoned, perfect with the meal. Under eight dollars for the entrée. While I went there for lunch, they serve breakfast too. The breakfast menu looks great! I’ll be back to try that.

Classic Havana comes to Latin Café in Margate June 19, 2014 | By Dr. Sabrina Segal Hidden in an unassuming strip mall on State Road 7 is Margate’s newest restaurant, Latin Café, helmed by a Cuban Chef with a fiery passion for cooking. Chef Ismati hails from San Pedro, Cuba, and aims to put the roadside eatery on the map. ______________ Along with authentically delightful flavors the prices are right and portions hearty at Latin Café. We started with Tostones($ 2.50). Sliced green plantains boiled to a mushy soft then flattened and fried. Tostones can be greasy at other places but not at Latin Café. Insides were moist — not oily — and the garlic butter accompaniment allowed for earthy plantain flavors to bust through. We bypassed wraps, sandwiches and salads on the menu and went right for specialties. Meals include rice(white or yellow), beans(red or black) and sweet plantains. The Palomilla Steak($ 7.95) was pounded a delicate thin and expertly seasoned. The Roast Pork — aka Lechon Asado(seen below $ 7.25) — a picnic shoulder cut — was finger-licking good and not overly fatty or dry. Both were tender to the fork and served with golden brown onions grilled and caramelized. On the side, Chef Ismati(seen at left with owner, Alex Ameng) takes fat and sausage seasoning from the pork and brings it to her red beans, a dish with depth of flavor that could hold its own as an entrée. Her black beans are hearty and well-balanced and her rice is straight on — white rice subtly seasoned and soft; yellow rice simple and flavorful. Grains separating with a flick. Dessert was a treat. Classic Cuban Flan($ 2.95) so rich and flavorful you’d think it was cheesecake. Ismati assured us no cheese was used, but rather just the right mix of evaporated and sweetened condensed milks. «The richness of Italian cheesecake with a refined flavor profile oozing caramel sauce. Lick the plate? No, too many people around. Bummer.» Since milk shakes($ 3.00) are a refreshing summer treat, we tried a tropical fruit flavored one called Mamey(pronounced Mu-MAY) aka sapote. It’s not a thick, hurt your cheeks sucking on a straw type milk shake, but instead a pleasant and refreshing frozen dairy concoction that slides right down on a hot day. Mamey is a flavor you have to try yourself. It’s hard to describe and we had differing opinions about what it most tasted like. Mamey is flavorful. FYI: Some consider the red fruit be an aphrodisiac. Ingredients are used sparingly and in perfect proportion at Latin Café. No superfluous spices or leafy garnish tossed in as an afterthought — a testament to 30 years of authentic recipes by the talented Ismati. She is a catch and her brand of Classic Cuban cuisine pure gold. Latin Café is a family-owned, father-son run business. Though we sat for lunch on day three of the restaurant’s first week, the food, service and attitude were all impeccable. Latin Café is one Margate restaurant to watch.
