Meh. Went here with my husband for happy hour. We were the only ones there. That should tell you something. Overpriced mediocre food. So much hype but so disappointing. Also a Very limited happy hour drink menu. Go to Tomatoes instead!

Ate dinner here twice and both times food was excellent as was the service. Had a veal dish and delicious lamb. Have only been there off season as my husband and I are new to Margate but hope it is as good during the summer season.

Food never came staff slammed kitchen slammed could not make roll ups fast enough every one around us not happy including us, no food Arriving, taking forever for drinks asking multiple times nice consumers getting upset and just paying bill and walking, we will never be back as this happened 18 months ago and forgave, the owner should really look at this operation, stop seating people when all staff and kitchen slammed, this is a prime example of greed, I myself are in the industry and wasn’t angry but upset for quite customers paying and leaving and me my food never came out, I had to to ask it be taking of the bill, wow Can you believe that, charge for my coffee and wife’s drowned chicken milense, a tru disgrace,

Went today for lunch. Such a nice little gem in Margate. Love the décor inside and it was immaculate. Waiter was so nice and personable. Had the BBQ meatloaf. Portion was big, was delish and the fried onions on top were perfect! My parents both had the lobster blt with sweet potatoe fries. They only finished half. Huge chunks of lobster meat. Oh we also split the wedge salad. Yummy. Definitely a good shore spot and want to go back and try their Mexican restaurant, Tipsy Taco

They should have known it would be busy on Mothers Day. Hire more«kid» staff. Waited over 20 minutes for drinks and food followed right behind, which of course was room temperature and was mediocre at best My wife went last year and said they gave each mother a complimentary champagne glass and a rose. Not this year, Johnny must have over spent trying to buy out the rest of the block for other restaurant endeavors. Don’t spread yourself too thin bud!

Popped in for a quick bite and got great meals midday. «Pop Pop’s Lunch» was right up my alley — open face(bagel) sausage, roasted peppers, scrambled eggs, potatoes — kinda like a «farmer’s mess»(MY tastes!). My ladies had the grilled portobello and an omelet, respectively, both very nice! Service was prompt, cheery, and efficient!

My daughter and I went to Johnnys for dinner on Valentine’s Day after finding a reservation on open table. The place was crowded but we were seated right away. The service was a little slow but it was a holiday and very busy. We ordered two house salads that were nice size and everything was nice and fresh on them. We ordered the chicken piccati that came with garlic mashed and asparagus and the ny strip that came with the same sides. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly medium rare and the mashed and asparagus were also very good. We shared the ricotta cheese pie for desert it was light creamy and had a very good taste. We would definitely go back and recommend this place.

Save your money and spare yourself disappointment. I asked the waitress prior to ordering if the lobster was fresh and she happily checked with the chef who said it was fresh and tasty. So I gladly order the almost $ 40 dinner only to be disappointed by a frozen petite lobster tail smothered in chopped tomatoes and butter. It was hugely disappointing. My husband ordered the veal chop which was fair at best at the price of $ 59.00 Overpriced and hugely disappointing good but the server was wonderful and truly did try to save the day. Will not return

Blech… if I could think of another word, I would. Unprofessional wait staff and inconsistent quality. I’ve been a few times over the past few years as I try to stay local. Each time I was sorry. Tons of flys in dining area in the warm weather disgust me. Who knows what’s going on in the kitchen with all the flys. Salads are bland and the fish tastes like it was previously frozen…

A friend had told me that Johhny’s had good food so on his recommendation I had my wife take me there for my birthday. We were both underwhelmed. The food was just ok, and to be honest, was over priced. To make matters worse they had some horrible lounge singer at the bar and it was painful. At first I thought it was bad karaōke. Based on the food quality and price I would not go back here. I will say that our waitress was good; no complaints about the service.

Stopped by here today for a late lunch with the wife. Nothing fancy, she got a grilled cheeze and I got a lobster BLT. It was very tasty and priced well. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of. Beer was ice cold. Whole place was VERY clean, the bar looked real classy. Would definitely go there again… great place!!.

Great spot in Margate if you’re looking for dinner, brunch or a place to go dancing with your friends. During the week they offer a great Prix Fixe menu, get the lamb and you will not be disappointed! So tender and flavorful! I also love coming here for brunch on the weekends, the crab omelette is HUGE and filled with big lumps of crab meat. It comes with toast and home fries which are the perfect sides to this egg and cheese goodness.

We went here for breakfast. Service was god awful. Had to ask for part of my order 5 times and it never came but of course was still on the bill. Actual order was wrong as well and took forever for them to make eggs correctly. About 40 mins wait for eggs over easy? Guess they weren’t too easy for Johnny today! Waitress was unapologetic and blamed the kitchen as did the owner as opposed to trying to make us happy.

One of the WORST experiences I’ve had at a restaurant in Margate. I went with my mom she got the salmon which was bad and had a fishy taste we told the manager and he was not very accommodating. I got tuna rare and it is supposed to be pink but it looked a little dis colored but I’m not one to complain. Before the entrée we shared a salad which was drenched in dressing and barely edible. I would not go back here.

We thought this was a great place. My wife and I both liked what we got and I thought the meatballs were some of the best meatballs we have ever eaten in a restaurant. The atmosphere is very nice inside. Was not a big deal but I would disagree with Unilocal a bit and what say that it is not a good place for kids. My eight and nine year old boys were fine but they don’t have a kids menu and I don’t think their menu is very kid friendly. Service was great on a Thursday night. Lastly my only comment would be to the owners. As someone who works in marketing I think the name would be better suited as Jonny’s Trattorria or the like as «café» probably doesn’t do it justice.

Walked here from the beach for mid afternoon lunch and were greeted by the hostess saying they are closed until 4 pm. Their Unilocal info and website both indicate they are open throughout the day. A place that can’t even get their hours right is hardly the best of anything.

Great food! It’s been a while since our visit so I am a little fuzzy about the details… This could also be attributed to the perfectly blended Cosmo that I had… Haha. What I can recall is that we shared the goat cheese salad and had the seared tuna for my main… They were both very good and my husband had one of the veal dishes and was very impressed. It has a nice bar area and the service was great! Definitely on the list of favorites.

Trendy cocktail lounge/restaurant full of the whose who of Margate. A good selection of Martini’s and bottled beers and friendly bartenders. Ambiance is «chic shore» combining the elements of Philly and Margate. But, I didn’t come here for the scene, it’s the food which makes Johnny’s a true standout! From salads, appetizers to entrees the food is fresh and executed to perfection. My suggestions, try the meatball salad… that’s right what goes better w/salad then tender veal, pork and beef meatballs in a classic marinara sauce(pan fried just like grandmas). Also try the fig, goat cheese and prosciutto appetizer… warm stuffed figs w– creamy goat cheese, wrapped w/prosciutto. Great balance of sweet and saltiness. Entrees that standout are the Chilean Sea Bass, rack of lamb and yes the special… the overpriced($ 55+) yet excellent stuffed veal chop grilled(stuffed w/prosciutto, cheese and spinach) which is one of my favorite entrees. Only issue is to ask wait staff for the price of the specials so you are not shocked by the price of veal chop as I was. Veal chops don’t come cheap, but this is a bit excessive when the cut of meat costs around $ 19 for a chop this size. Despite the veal chop, most entrees are priced accordingly around $ 30 – 35.

I’ve never been disappointed by this place. Great place to go for any meal. Great food options and great ambiance. I would suggest to the owner/manager that if she yells at the staff to do it in private and not in front of customers, although it did make for good entertainment.

Came here for brunch. The food was mostly great, though the crêpe of the day was not really as it was described. However, smooth jazz was played incessantly, and that’s a real breakfast buzz killer for me.

Worth it to get breakfast here. The omelet was cooked to perfection(I mean the cook knows what he is doing), the potatoes were great, and the coffee was very good. My wife really enjoyed her eggs Benedict also. Bloody Mary was just OK, but I needed it. The tables were a bit crowded while we ate and it was a little annoying to constantly getting scootched by the waitstaff. Maybe that’s to be expected at a busy shore place. Would come back for sure!

I’ll stick to what I know. Having lived on the island a year, this is without doubt one of the best food stops I have had for lunch. Oriental salad — perfectly seared tuna, encrusted in sesame. An appetizer of fried calamari– huge portions. My only regret is having waited a year to come check this place out.

The breakfast here is sooo good!!! Never a let down ! As for the dinner I’ve had some really good meals and some mediocre meals but never had anything bad here at all. It’s a really nice restaurant with a nice ambience. I’m not quite sure when they do it but I know they have a DJ there sometimes in the bar area is really cool to hang out at and the staff is always very nice. I do like this place it’s a nice place for a good time and a nice meal
