The food here is probably a 4 or even a 5. The gentleman cooking and woman running the register perfectly friendly. But the service was ungodly. There was a dog in the shop — back in the prep area basically. The lady in charge complimented my friend on her order but never relayed it to the cook. When my food was ready it became apparent he just started the fried scallops. They came out a few minutes later uncooked. So we sent them back. My food was long gone before she brought the scallops out for us to eat. There wasn’t a simple fish and chips order — that was a special… WTF? It was good, but oh so f-ed up and oh so fried that my clothes stunk for days afterwards and I had to keep them separate from the other clothes in my suitcase!

Try the crabcakes… I enjoy them, and find them to be consistently delicious. However, I won’t soon be ordering the fried onion rings or scallops. They turned out to be a greasy mess and the breading was too thick and falling off in a clump. The owner/manager was not there the day I visited, just some kids left to run the shop. Perhaps that is why the quality was off.

By far, the best crab cakes in the region. They are uniform and from visit to visit they are always the same. While at the shore we always try to make a dinner with their crab cakes. We have often frozen them and taken them home. In addition, they have other seafood and vegetable dishes and you can create your own meal at the store to enjoy at home.

Crab Cakes, mini, regular or baked… all are delicious. Now you can get ‘em shipped. Woo hoo.

The quality of the crabcakes is topnotch(mind you my own crabcakes are my favorites, but these offer a different dimension than my recipe) because the crabmeat is grade A+++ jumbo and, as the other reviewers mention, there is absolutely no filler. Just an update for the 2012 beach season: the selection of side dishes has increased, with a nice mix of multiple fresh veggie choices and yummy mashed potato selections, pilaf, and homemade mac and cheese. There were four specials of the day on the blackboard mid-week in early June, AND now you can also get cooked platters to take out. Platter prices were reasonable and small-serving platters were listed on the menu. Nice touch. I’ll be back to try the stuffed shrimp. Don’t go in too hungry; you’ll go home with too much food! Simply irresistible.

During a weekend down the shore, we decided on Bobby Chez as a dinner option on a night we didn’t want to cook, but didn’t want to eat out either. Bobby Chez is known for their crabcakes, which are the real deal. As a Baltimore native, I know my crabcakes, and there is no breadcrumb filling, just savory crabmeat filled balls. You can get them fried or baked, whatever your prerogative. They also have other seafood options and sides you can order to compliment your meal, but the crabcakes are the main event. Just remember it is take-out only and there is also a store in the city off South Street, if you are jonesing for a shore delight.

Jumbo, succulent, fresh and unbelievably delicious — Bobby Chez crabcakes are the best I’ve ever had. They have no fake filler in their crabcakes. The crabcakes have a flavor to them that has been unmistakable and unmatched in my travels! They are better than any restaurant crabcake I’ve tried and are more than half as cheap — only $ 6 each. Obviously Bobby Chez is known for crabcakes, but the rest of the prepared foods are phenomenal, as well! I’d go with the fresh seafood salad, the lobster mashed potatoes, the fresh vegetable medley and, believe it or not, the chicken fingers! Newcomers beware — there is no dine-in and you cook the food yourself. They give you an instruction sheet, detailing times/temperatures for cooking — it couldn’t be easier. I definitely recommend Bobby Chez for BBQs, quick dinners, slow dinners — ANYTHING! Simply delicious.
