This place is so cute. I wanted to give it more stars, but I find their donuts on the heavy/greasy side for my stomach. I will go back and try their plainer bread items!

When in Marengo I wasn’t very adventurous as far as eating establishments. On Sunday I found my regular place closed, which was a blessing in disguise as I walked over to Kay N Jo’s instead. Had the Italian sub which was priced comparable to the other place but was larger and MUCH tastier!!! The bread was as fresh as it could be. And don’t get me started on their assortment of goodies. I had a chocolate chip and sugar cookie which both were fantastic. The people there are so nice — have a chat with them when you go in. Needless to say they are now my regular lunch place in Marengo. Can’t wait to eat there again on Wednesday(and try some of their other desserts)!!!

Just got donuts this morning. They were very fresh almost as if they melted in my mouth because of the freshness. Several options as far as flavors but didn’t have the true consistency of a donut. More of a cake feeling. Flavors were pretty bland. Prices were expensive for what I took home with me. A dozen donuts was $ 10.20. Will try back though for breakfast paninis.

A great addition to Marengo, I can’t believe it took me so long to give it a try but I’m glad I finally did. I hope they are in business a long time! My kids love the donuts, I think they make the best grilled cheese I’ve ever had, and my husband wanted the turkey/ham club but made on a sub roll which the owner said was no problem. My husband, who is a huge sandwich guy and grew up on Augustino’s in Carol Stream, said it was probably the best sub he’d ever had. The fresh baked bread is amazing! I’ve also had the sugar cookies at a party and they were soft and delicious! The only thing that wasn’t that great was the little cherry tart, but the other good stuff far outweighed that. There are more things on the menu I’d love to try; we will definitely be back many more times!

Cute little bake shop with super-friendly owner! Sandwiches were delicious, try the steakhouse panini! Homemade bread put it all over the top! Great place to grab a bite to go(or eat in, there are a few tables inside and out).

A very cute local eatery. A little on the small side, with only two tables inside, but they have a few tables outside and the sandwiches are worth it. The baked goods(cookies and donuts) were amazing. The owners were incredibly friendly, making us feel welcome in their little shop.

Delicious soups, salads and sandwiches — ALL made from scratch! Add that to the home made doughnuts, cookies and candies and you’ll find yourself in a scratch made foodie heaven. This is DEFINITELY the place you MUST try in Marengo for lunch or a sweet treat. Plus the owner is super friendly and excited to talk about his passion for cooking. Do not miss this place, in fact — go there right now!

Really good food at very reasonable prices. My husband and I went there based on other Unilocal reviews & we were not disappointed. The restaurant is tiny(2 tables), but the food is very tasty & fresh. We will go back!

If you are passing through Marengo this is a must stop. Breakfast paninis, scramblers and doughnuts are second to none. Grab a few things for later also. Glad we stumbled upon this awesome place!

A very welcoming place with fresh-baked home cooking! Enjoyed it. Great large portions too! The apple fritter was monstrous! :-) Good point too: Everything is baked, not fried.

Great little place that we’ve just discovered. If you can make it past the pastry counter and fresh bread, order one of their excellent sandwiches made on bread made on-site. Fresh, quality ingredients and food prepared with TLC make this a wonderful addition to Marengo«cuisine».

I love this little place. Their sandwiches are so good. It’s easy to forget what a difference freshly baked bread makes on something as simple as a club sandwich. The donuts are very tasty as well, and different than any other donuts I’ve ever had.

Ordered 2 dozen cake pops for a party, everything was a success! Pricing was very reasonable for the high quality offered. Still love the Veg breakfast and Veg lunch options! The house made spicy cheese bread is delicious!

We stopped there on a road trip to WI to avoid fast food chains. The owners were very friendly and in the 40 mn we were there we saw that they enjoyed a very nice local business between sandwiches, cake orders and a fairly wide range of sweets. The place is small but they decorated it in a warm inviting way. They had donuts, cookies(traditional but very good), and more«fancy» tartlets that were very cute but not a flavorful as we had hoped. We had breakfast sandwiches and a grilled cheese for our toddler and they were simple but absolutely delicious, very gooey with cheese, very very good. Very extensive menu, everyone should fine something they like. We would definitely recommend this place!

If you like scratch made breads and sweets, plan a trip to check this place out. Fresh bread, delicious deserts and an accomodating owner/chef. Also, their«day old» table item prices are to die for! Hand made bagels, pretzel rolls at a steal! Will be back to try breakfast/lunch items and a great spot to stop if you’re cruising Rt 20.

Unfortunately, they are off the beaten path, so I forget about them, but when I drive by, I HAVE to stop and get an apple fritter. They are bigger than your hand! I like the little gifty things they have in there too. Haven’t tried the sandwiches yet, tho they look delicious… I can’t get past the apple fritter! Try Them!
