DANKDUCKDYNASTY: I recently went and picked up Su’s Garden’s Crispy Duck with the hoisin sauce. I’ve gotten this dish several times over the years when I lived on the island full time. They usually made it nice and crisp on the outside but juicy on the inside. On Sunday I got an order to go and when I got home and saw it, it didn’t look right. It looked old and didn’t have that sheen. It was horribly dry and WAY over cooked. I’ve cooked commercially for years and it looked like they took an old, most likely frozen duck or an old one, and figured they were not going to lose money on it no matter what and I was the victim who received it. When I brought it to the attention of the waitress, Gabriela,(also claimed to be manager) and after driving back to the restaurant which was a drag, she said that’s the way it always is. I disagreed and told her that I had it in the past and it was always crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, but she kept saying the same thing over and over and wouldn’t even listen to anything I was saying. I explained to her that just because it’s called crispy duck it doesn’t mean it should be poorly executed or reheating an old roasted duck that had no more life on it, or even taking a frozen one they microwaved then dipped in the wok. I know the games that go on especially when someone is trying to keep food costs down as business subsides. This Gabriela took my comments personal instead of professionally and was EXTREMELYRUDE to me which got my dander up, because she was not listening to one word that came out of my mouth. I told her to please taste it for herself and have one of the cooks taste it, and tell me if you still stand by your comment that this is the way it’s always prepared. I told her methodology is one thing and execution of a dish is another but her feeble brain couldn’t comprehend anything but«That’s the way it’s always cooked.» I said, «So a duck with the texture of rubber and completely dried out is what you’re customers are always eating?» It’s non-sensible, BADISBAD, no matter what the cooking methodology is.“ I told her I will never come back nor will my family, to which she said, «Good!» She did give me my money back but not without her ridiculous explanation about what this dish is suppose to taste like, despite not tasting mine or letting the cooks come and see for their selves what ABSOLUTELY, INEDIBLETRASH they sold me. She had no concern for what a loyal customer had to say so they could correct it, nor any respect for a paying loyal patron. You can’t correct something that you REFUSE to acknowledge. I asked if I could speak to the manager and she said she was the manager in a defiant tone. I hope the owner reads this because I’m sure Gabriela will put her own spin on what transpired. BTW, when I came in there, there was only one table of customers eating; so when you’re getting ready to go into the summer season, it’s not smart to disregard your customers’ critique when it is absolutely valid. Also got very ill about 5 hours after I ate it and had intestinal issues for two days after consuming the duck and NOTHINGELSE. I can’t prove that it was a result of the duck, but I took sanitation as a graduate of CIA(Culinary Institute of America) class of ’95, and the timeline fits for food borne illness. DONOTRECOMMEND and WILLNEVERGOBACK!

Had a terrible meal! Fish smelled bad and tasted terrible! When we told the owner she gave us $ 6.00 on a $ 19.00 meal. Don’t order fish here or you’ll pay the price later that evening!!!

This was by far the worst Chinese takeout food we have ever had. The vegetarian delight was so greasy we washed the food before reheating it. The vegetables in all the dishes were far from fresh. I almost never write reviews, but in this case I wanted to save others from z bad experience. Save you money.

Ordered orange chicken and it came out undercooked, when we showed it to the waiter they told us nothing was wrong with it! Very rude people and very disgusting food. Avoid like herpes

Very sorry to say that after two visits to Su’s we will not be back. Desperately wanted to like it, since there is no good Chinese food in the Naples area south of Pine Ridge. And the space is sort of old school charming. But the sweet goopy Cantonese fare here is not worth your time.

My wife is a food snob and says its the best Chinese she’s had in a long time. I agree. We had takeout so I can’t comment on service.

Don’t expect big flavor. Everything we had was good, but almost tasteless. I added some Chinese mustard to my pork wonton soup. That improved it tremendously. I had beef lo mien & chicken wings. My wife had hot & sour soup(good) and chicken with vegetables & fried rice. Even the duck sauce was very mild. It had no apple or plum taste. It seemed to be watered down honey. Price was reasonable. Service & atmosphere were above average.

I stand by my original 5 star review. No, it is not what your going to get in San Francisco Chinatown, NY Chinatown, or Vancouver, as I said in the original review, Americanized Chinese, like very good Wan Chai Ferry, or La Choy. I know a lot of Canadians spend at least part of their winter here, it is Marco Island, not home. Everything was perfection again this time. Had the pork won ton soup, Chinese spare ribs & pan fried dumplings appetizers, & for the main course had the seven stars around the moon. DELISH! Everything was great. See my pics, & thanks again Su, grandmother Su, Son, & staff.

First the positives. The service was great. The person who took my order over the phone and the delivery guy were very friendly. Delivery was also very fast. Unfortunately, it ends there. The food was just not very good. Everything was wet and runny, the chicken had a weird texture to it, and I have no idea what they added to the pan fried dumplings, but they tasted awful. Even the spicy brown sauce that comes with dumplings(I don’t know what it’s called) tasted … off. The pork fried rice, on the other hand was very good. It was moist, cooked well and there were large chunks of pork.

We got take out from here on our family vacation. I asked a guy at the Walgreens where he gets Chinese food and he rattled off three places, this one being what he called«traditional.» Didn’t give it 5 stars because wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but was really good. Our family of 7 all found something they liked to order and no complaints! I tried the General Tso’s and the shrimp fried rie, both were delicious. 6 full meals and a few apps for under $ 85(without tip) made for a great value.

Manage your expectations and you will enjoy the food. Always strange to have a non-asian server but I get over it and eat like I’m going to the chair.

If you like canned mushrooms and canned pineapple, this place is for you. Not for né though. The beef was very tender which helped make up for the flavorless curry. I think I had higher expectations. My bad. v

This is going to be difficult to review due to the fact that the bar on Marco has set pretty low. First off, I ordered chicken Lo Mein for my daughter and to our dismay the chicken was dark meat. Maybe we’re a bit picky, but yuck! The Hunan tofu was ok and the curry chicken(breast meat) was well below average. I asked for white rice and ended up with fried rice which was mushy. It was take-out and I’d certainly voice my opinion if I had the opportunity.

Great service!!! But service does not mean great food. This is the worst Chinese food I have ever consumed, and I have eaten Chinese all over the world. But this is the best service I think we have had on Marco island. So if you want amazing service, but food I would not feed to my pets I would recommend this place.

Food was ok. We had the kung pao shrimp which was flavorful, but there were only 6 small shrimp in the whole dish, the rest was vegetables. The sesame chicken was terrible– inedible. The fried rice was good, with large pieces of pork. We got take out and they only had the packets of the cheap duck sauce and hot mustard which was a disappointment. I would order again, for apps and rice only, No entrees.

I have been coming to marco island for years and I have always fit in a trip here! It’s a nice; clean restaurant with good service. The fried dumplings are their best dish, but I like how they put out little fried chips before food even comes. My favorite entrees are the sesame and General Tso’s because their sauces have good flavor. My dad got the chicken and broccoli and it was very bland, colorless and flavorless, very boring. Their fried rice is alright but white rice may be a safer choice. All in all it provides a very nice Chinese dining experience — it won’t be the best you’ve ever had but you’ll leave full, satisfied, and with plenty of leftovers.
