Big chain, not as good as Denny’s or IHOP. So, there you go. You can do better at most places. It is definitely more greasy than the others, I wouldn’t rush back there.

RE: Veteran Discount Bait-and-Switch If I could give this Perkins location zero stars, I would, however, it is not an option. I had been seeing commercials and other advertisements for a special deal on Memorial Day for current and past military veterans. Since my spouse and my parent has served in the US Military, I thought that this would be a good way to celebrate their service, while getting a good deal on food, and spending time together! So Memorial Day 2015, I had made a ‘date’ with the two veterans in my life. We attended the nearby memorial day service. Then we drove to this Perkins location. There was only one member of the wait-staff and one manager on duty at the time. I do not recall their names. The special was for a free«Magnificent 7». My parent and spouse both ordered. I ordered a Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato(BLT) sandwich. My spouse asked for bacon with his order, but received sausage by accident. Since it took so long to wait for service, drinks, and our food, we thought that instead of making a big deal of the wrong order, I’d just eat it, instead, and he would take the bacon out of my sandwich. We called it even. Nobody was worse for the wear! We thought that we were helping the server by not mentioning anything about the incorrect order. However, even though there were not many people working and service was slow, someone somehow saw me eat from my spouse’s plate. Therefore, when we went up to pay, Perkins refused to honor the advertised discount for military veterans because I had eaten from his plate, therefore, negating the discount because I am not a veteran. We tried to say how unfair it was, but our claims of unfairness were ignored. They rung us up at the counter at the full price. All I know is that I had wanted to honor by spouse and parent’s military service after spending a memorable day at the local memorial service by taking my loved ones out to a nice family restaurant. However, it was naught to be because of some very rude customer service.

Having visited Perkins for about 50 years, I suppose it is time for me to write up a review. I can not be considered a regular, since my visits are few and far between. Probably visit once a year. And those visits are split between different stores, depending on where I am when I decide to go to one. I know they have other meals besides breakfast items, but I do not remember getting anything other than breakfast meals. For much of the 90’s I worked in dinkytown. In the mid 90’s there was a Perkins Express. I am guessing this was related to the Perkins we are familiar with. At this place, it was cafeteria style ordering. Get a tray and eating utensils, order your food with one of the line cooks, get order, pay and seat yourself. I would get a Magnificent 7. Three cakes, 2 eggs, 2 sausage links. Not a huge breakfast, but decent light breakfast. And get this. The price was $ 2.50. Yes, two and a half bucks for breakfast, plus tax. I do not recall a tip jar at the register, so the cooks got robbed out of tips that they were worthy of receiving. Sometimes my coffee was an additional charge and sometimes not. I did frequent this place more than yearly, but do not remember how often. I do remember if I was meeting someone for work related reasons, I would offer to take them here. Can anyone remember a time when you could pick up the tab for 2 meals and spend less then 6 bucks, without going to a fast food type place? For me, I think it was late 70’s or early 80’s. Sadly, I went by one day and saw the chairs on the table. It was around xmas time and my friend mentioned maybe just closed for the holidays, since many of the students have left town to be with family, etc. But shortly after the new year, still closed. Bummer, Big bummer. The best deal in dinkytown gone. I think they had the Magnificent 7 at the regular Perkins, but it was $ 3.99 plus beverage, tax and tip. So close to $ 6.00, depending on how generous of a tipper you are. I decided today to visit a Perkins at the start of my day of running a few errands. I could go to the one near Hillcrest or the Mall. I decided the Mall location. It was a good decision. I was quickly seated by a host and asked for a beverage order. After a few minutes, a waitress stopped by and said«Sir, I am thinking you need a water and coffee while you look over the menu». She thought right… I was quickly served my beverages and told her I needed a few more minutes to look over the menu. They have quite a few items to choose from. It was difficult to decide. I decided on «The Everything Smasher» with Sour Dough toast. It was quickly prepared and served to me. My first observation was I wish the cheese was a bit more melted. It looked really good, but I think we all like melted cheese on meals like this. Not gonna complain about it though. I do not do that, unless something is very wrong. I did not have my own seasoning with me today. I left that in my winter jacket pocket. Today was no day to be wearing a winter jacket. So I used a little salt/pepper.(Please do not tell my Dr. I used salt). I now have my seasoning in my spring jacket! I started to enjoy my meal. I wonder why they call this a «Smasher». I was expecting the Tater Tots to be cooked to a crispy texture and smashed a bit. They were not smashed at all. It did not prevent it from being a nice meal, I just think it could be named differently. I do not know why, but I really enjoy these all in one stir-fry type meals. Everything is cooked at once and plated. Eggs were cooked separately and placed on top with the cheese added afterwards. My eggs we ordered over easy. With the side of my fork, I broke the yolk. And the over easy was perfect. Nice runny yolk going all over my tots, ham(not supposed to have that either) and veggies. I finished my meal and ordered up a coffee to go. She brought me a large cup already filled. She warned me that it was freshly brewed and will be hot. I appreciated the warning and the freshly brewed coffee. My total came to $ 13.79. Certainly a fair price. Service was very good. Waitress was very prompt and had a very pretty smile. Call me a chauvinist if you want. But a pretty smile goes a long way with me in the restaurant business. I tipped over and above my normal tipping, but probably not so much that she will tip the host to make sure I am seated in her section. Hell, she probably would not recognize me if she saw me at the grocery store next week. Though I am sure I would recognize her. Pretty smiles go a long way.

I have been to this Perkins location several times and it’s always been hit or miss but I just had the most awkward dining experience of my ENTIRELIFE. Our waitress took our orders and then got fired!!! We could here the employees talking about it. We clearly heard the manager state, «I don’t care if I have to stay until ten, she’s done!» We then had to witness the waitress leave and then come back in to call for a ride. Other patrons were vocally upset about the service they received, which only added to the awfulness. I don’t know if the waitress deserved to be fired, but I can’t imagine that she deserved to be publicly humiliated. It could’ve been handled a lot more gracefully. And maybe I don’t know the whole story but I shouldn’t know any of the story. They did give us a break on the tab but that meal kind of put a damper on our whole evening. I’ll never go back there again because I don’t want to re-live the experience or have any awkward run ins with any of the employees that were working tonight. There is another Perkins nearby, or Denny’s and hopefully they don’t turn the termination of an employee into a floor show.

Maybe it’s me but every time i come here or other one the service is slow and garbage. I’m not one to be harsh but get it together people. I’ve never been served silverware when I’m here I don’t get my food(1 to 2 hour wait appetizers). How come I always get my food last and not with everyone else’s food. Also how come the food here looks good but when I do get it come here its cold and unique appetizing.

Why do I keep making the same mistake and come here for a late night meal? The staff is unprofessional and talks loudly about who is going to do what and debates who is going to clean up the mess that has been made. We were there again about two days ago. We were not greeted when we got there. A server passed us into the kitchen and didn’t say anything until she came back out. As she came out she told us she would be right with us. About 10 minutes passed and still we were not seated. I can understand if it was busy but from the look of the empty tables we should’ve been greeted and sat within 5 mins.

Lunch time on a Thursday. Service is slower than the molasses in January. After a few minutes waiting to be seated with no one else waiting before or after us, the guy says«less than two minutes». Haha I knew we should have left then because now we’ve been waiting 30 mins.

Perkins is one of my favorite locations for morning business meetings, you get great service, can have a nice conversation, share a good meal and develop stronger relationships as a result. I met with a business associate for a traditional style breakfast at Perkins, our waitress, Liz, did a great job keeping up with us this morning. We each had a very customary, two eggs over easy, sausage links, hash browns, wheat toast with coffee and orange juice. But best of all we were able to connect outside the offices in a casual environment and outline some plans for the future. Very convenient location too, right off of 35E at the County Road E exit, makes meeting friends from the area easy. Nothing like starting out your day with the most important meal of the day and a good friend.

Like most Perkins, the service is always great. Food however, is mediocre, except for the pot roast, which is delicious.

The staff was very friendly. We got our food very fast and it is open 24 hrs and that makes it convenient so when you are traveling you can stop and stretch your legs and eat. The prices are reasonable. The food was pretty good..

The staff here is great and the food is good — we drive here from Stillwater even though there is a Perkins right in town. Whether dining in or picking a to-go order I have always had great service at this location. Obviously the food is standard Perkins fare but the kitchen is always consistently good — something I can’t say about the Stillwater location. Is it the greatest food you’ll ever have? No. But it is good food at a good price and the staff here makes you feel welcome.

I like this place. It’s not super fancy, but the food is good, staff are friendly, and the pricing is not bad at all. I may just be lucky, but I have never had to really wait for tables or service and food has come out pretty quick. This is a place that I can lean on in times of need that is a little more quiet than some other options and I know what I am getting.

This place is pretty mediocre. I end up here though because it is close to my aunts house. On a Sunday, it gets really crowded as folks seem to swing though after church. I like that you get a pitcher of coffee and can get pancakes with everything but it is not very different than other restaurants of this ilk(i.e., Dennys, IHOP)
