I tell you what, their self service here at Lowells really needs improving. The clerk today was micro managing my checkout. Not appreciated. However I was ill pressed to find someone in the store to help me find my items. Geeze off to Home Depot

Customer service is poor whether you’re looking for advice or getting checked out. Prices are also ridiculous… Menards customer service is far superior to lowes.

This is more about the products than the staff. Do not buy their Valspar paint — it is horrible. I have used Valspar for many years, and I was always pleased. But this ‘new’ Valspar Ultra 2000⁄4000 /Signature, etc(it’s all the same) is the worst paint I’ve ever used. It’s not paint — it’s some sort of latex ‘coating’ that you can literally peel off the wall after it’s dry. The paint dries so fast, so have to wash the brush you are cutting in with — frequently. It’s just glop. Why any store would sell such an inferior product is beyond me. Additionally, I wanted a quart of semi-gloss oil based paint for a door. Lowe’s doesn’t sell any oli based paint. IMO they sell retail crap.

Poor service. 1. We ordered a washer n dryer — they called us to say that our refrigerator was ready! 2. We ordered appliances to be delivered two days after we were moving into our new home — they called two weeks before we had bought our home to say they were ready to deliver.(even though we had no place to deliver them to.) 3. We scheduled them to measure our windows — they lost our invoice and asked us to repay. 4. We came in to order and pay for our blinds — waited a half hour for someone to help us and then it took another hour for them to place our order — and we knew exactly what we wanted. We were just begging them to take our money so we could leave! They get two stars instead of one because we called their manager and he provided some understanding and a bit of compensation. But they are too busy and too disorganized to do a good job.

I stopped in here this weekend to look at ceiling fans. They seemed to have a great selection, and I was told that Lowes was the place to go if you didn’t really know much about home improvement. That turned out not to the be the case. I tracked down the guy responsible for the electrical department and asked him some questions. But when I asked him to show me a few fans that would work for my size of room, design needs, etc. he asked another customer standing in the department how he could help HIM and proceeded to ignore me for about 5 minutes, then send me away to go look at fans on my own(with no guidance or assistance) while he continued to help someone else. I understand needing to help all customers, but the better way to handle this would have been to page additional assistance to the department to help the other customer, rather than abandoning me in the middle of my search. I won’t be purchasing anything from Lowes as a result of this interaction, and disagree with the concept that it’s a better place than competitors for those who are new to DIY.

There’s a decent selection here whenever I have to go, but the staff isn’t that helpful or knowledgable here. I am often told to talk to someone in another aisle or section. When I get there I ask the employees of that department who promptly and send me off to ask another question in another aisle.

Went to their Blaine store to buy flooring and got the complete run around, wasn’t going to go back to lowes but they had the only tile that I wanted, am so happy I came to this location their flooring department is wonderful, they went above and beyond to make sure all my tiles had the same tint. Will drive the extra distance to shop at this lowes

I don’t usually post negative things, but we had a terrible experience getting a backsplash put in our kitchen last summer using Lowe’s. I know they contract out for this but still, we hired professionals so we wouldn’t have to worry. My husband and I both agreed that while it might have taken us longer, we would have done a better job ourselves. The contractor came back out to look at it and made me feel very bad about saying anything and acted like I was a horrible inconvenience to him. We finally had a manager from the department at Lowe’s come look at it who was very nice and apologized profusely saying that he definitely agreed with me that it did not look like a job that was professionally done. He did his best to fix it, but we were unfortunately still left with hacks taken out of the walls of our house that was barely over a year old. I had to try to fill it all in with putty and then repaint. Much better experiences contracting with Menards and Home Depot.

This location is nice and clean, they had everything I was looking for and the staff was helpful enough to point me in the right direction. I’m not sure what else to review about a hardware store, so I’ll just say this: –clean store –friendly staff –helpful staff –lots of plants and flowers to choose from

The help in the paint department was terrible! I usually shop Lowe’s Plymouth which has always been fine, but they were out of the base I needed so they sent me up to the Maple Grove store. The two people working the paint department were not good at matching colors. I was a bit hesitant with the color they suggested, but figured they are the experts and I am not that great a matching colors myself. What a mistake! When I got home with my clearly marked«non-returnable» custom mixed paint, found that she was even further off in the matching than I thought might be the case in the store. So lots of money wasted at Lowe’s on paint I cannot use due to following their employee suggestions. I will be taking my business to Sherwin Williams from now on.

I know that Lowes is a huge store but I had the best /most personal experience there this past weekend buying a washer/dryer set. On Saturday I went to Lowes, Home Depot, and Menards to research a new washer /dryer. Lowes by far had the best service. They were helpful in terms of information and not pushy. In fact, they didn’t try to upsell me at all! However, Menards had the best pricing(grand opening sale). I called Lowes and they let me know that they would price match local competitors. Armed with this information I went back to Lowes the next day to purchase my appliances. Not only did they match Menards, they also gave us an extra 5% off for using their credit card. Apparently anytime you use their credit card you either get financing(i.e. 6 months 0% interest) or 5% off. Even with applying for a new Lowe’s card the whole experience was about 45 minutes. They have made me a customer for life! The only slightly annoying part is getting in and out of the parking lot. It is a huge lot with tons of stores so it takes a while and a few stoplights to get to the main road. If you can get through that part you will be a happy camper!
