The food was wonderful!!! Fine dining with out the pretense. The selections were great and the seafood was very fresh. We were here off season so it was a quiet night(which we loved). They are very accommodating with my gluten sensitivity and they know their stuff. I got the crab dip and it was delicious! My hubby who is not gf was able to get some crustinis and I enjoyed my corn tortillas chips. For dinner I got the peppered catch which was outstanding. My husband got the crab cakes and was blown away. If you enjoy excellent food, consider your self a foodie, and want great service and a beautiful evening this is a great pick! Oh and I almost forgot, the bathrooms have a changing table for the kiddos. So they are family friendly too!!! We will for sure be back!

My family and I ate here on a Thursday night around 5:30. I read the reviews and was expecting a wait for our food. This was not the case. We had three children in our party and they brought their food out first followed by our appetizer. This was great considering the little ones can get really antsy if they have to wait too long. Our meals were brought out immediately after we finished our appetizer. Everyone ordered something different and we all tried each other’s dishes. All the food was fresh and delicious! We will definitely make this a go to when we visit OBX!

Great restaurant run by husband and wife team. They make you feel like family from your first visit. The fish is fresh and wonderful. Try the fish tacos with the catch of the day or some tuna prepared perfectly. You will not be disappointed. The poached pear salad is a great starter. Quality food in the lovely town of Manteo.

Loveed this place! took my mom, and two teenage girls. It was fantastic and service was excellent. Friendly and courteous. One of the girls has an allergy and they were so considerate. Highly recommend the fingerling potato app and the pecan chicken. I can’t wait to go back, if you are in Maneo, don’t miss it!

This was one of the worst experiences it took 45 minutes for salad to come out. Our waitress had no idea about menu items. After 3 tries my husband found a beer they actually had available. They could not provide water for everyone in the party(6), in one trip and only managed to bring 5. After 1 hour and 20 minutes the food showed up. Worst restaurant ever– do not go here unless you want a bad experience– you’ve been warned.

Food was fine, but atmosphere was blah, even outside with water view. Concrete setting just not inviting. Our service was slow and servers broke several things outside while we were waiting.

There were a few things that made this a 3-star review. First, the service was slow. The servers did not seem to look out for diners needing something. Second, the food. My Avenue salad was sent back as there was too much vinegar and it was overdressed for my taste. Another in our party had the Margarita pizza which was so-so. There was barely a single basil leaf on the pizza. The cherry tomatoes were difficult to eat due to a thick skin. The Caesar salad looked like one from a package, including the boxed croutons. Third, the noise level. The surfaces were very hard, with nothing to absorb or cushion the sound. Fourth, the toilet seat in the ladies’ room was loose. All in all, the meal was so-so. We were here last summer and the summer prior, and will probably not return,

Here we had one of the best meals on our island vacation. Although one reviewer feels all restaurants near the beach should be decorated with sea shells and maritime tchotchke, we found the décor to be beautiful; very open with wonderful views. The service was friendly and attentive. The avocado shrimp salad refreshing and tasty. My tuna was perfectly prepared and my wife raved about the fish taco. This is the kind of place where you eat slowly because you don’t want the meal to end. We declined deserts as we were quite full from the generous portions. They have a lovely outdoor area, but the heat and humidity drove me inside. We would highly recommend Avenue Grill and would suggest you make a point of visiting this cute town and stopping by for a great meal

Excellent food, everything was incredible, we were a party of 14(adults and noisy kids) and the server was very friendly and answered all our questions with a smile and great attitude! 100% recommended!

Fish tacos and shrimp and grits were both very good. Good selection of local beers too! Also a very open and relaxed atmosphere.

Great smoked brisket sandwich and burgers with sauted onions. Took a little while for food but worth the wait. Try the Meyer lemon lemonade. Very good

Hands down the best brisket I have ever had. The hurricane ginger drink is amazing. Friendly and attentive service. We sat outside overlooking the water, nice view! Would recommend to anyone. A must do while in Manteo!

I’m conflicted. Totally. This place is trying so hard to be different. To be a little over the top. A little pretentious. But it’s in a beach town. The décor is industrial. It would be great in an urban city. Not so much in the Outer Banks. It’s a very cold space. Concrete and metal. Nothing warm, comfortable, or beachy about it. Don’t get me wrong. It’s clean, nice, and modern. But it doesn’t belong. It doesn’t fit with a beach experience. Now for the service. The place was far from packed last night. But it took 45 minutes just for the appetizers. Unacceptable on a Thursday night when a family is tired and wants to eat. Again, there were plenty of vacant tables, and our reservation was at 6:00. So they were hardly packed. Our apps? Shrimp and French fries. Hardly huge prep time. Also, water glasses remained empty throughout the meal. A tough thing for a dehydrated family who spent the day doing beach vacation things. Now for the food. Honestly, my wife loved it. I found it above average. I’ve had much worse in the outer banks. But it’s pretentious. The menu is limited. And you better love garlic and other strong seasonings to eat here. Bland, this food is not!(But I question the chef’s choices. Who puts pancake syrup on their fried chicken as a featured item?). You can’t make that up. Again, it’s above average. I didn’t meet the chef, but it just feels like he(or she) is a bit snooty. I could be way wrong, but I eat out a lot. I think my gut instinct is spot-on. This is a chef trying to shoehorn his idea of some crazy fusion into the outer banks … Rather than a chef giving the outer banks the perfect restaurant it so badly needs. This is good food with the potential to become great. But it’s not there yet. That’s just my humble opinion. So why only 3 stars? Because of slow service, cold and industrial décor, limited menu choices, and finally the«just good» food.(By the way, your chairs are very uncomfortable.). Even your hostess suggested the chairs on the patio were more comfortable than the dining room. When your staff bashes your seating to your customers, I know you have a problem. I want to give it four stars. But not one of the criteria above stood out enough for me to warrant it. Would I go again? Sure. Would I suggest it to a group or my family/friends? Nope. Picking it as a spot to return to would never cross my mind, based on my first experience. But I wouldn’t fight a group if that’s what they picked. I’d willingly go back, just not suggest it. Average in my book with the potential to be so great!

On the good side, this restaurant has a nice view of the waterfront and the staff was friendly. The shrimp and grits were pretty good with good flavor but a bit dry. On the bad side, the food and drinks were overpriced and lack luster. The ambiance was lacking and the seating was uncomfortable I ordered a glass of wine that was a very stingy pour. Appetizer was a very bland shrimp and avocado salad. The pork medallions were dry.

This was the best food I had on my weeklong vacation to the Outer Banks. They have extensive Gluten Free and vegan/vegetarian options. The food presentation was beautiful and everything tasted wonderful! The server was very friendly and personable. She offered to describe the specials we were interested in rather than simply flooding us with information. The manger even greeted me to make sure everything was perfect. They have two different patios as well as plenty of seating inside. The décor is fresh and elegant. If you’re in the area and looking for great food, look no further.

This place has excellent service. Great views. I had the fish tacos with blackened rock fish. Wonderful taste. I am sure this place is packed in season. Off season it was very quiet and relaxing.

Beautiful view of the marina from our table. Enjoyed the blue crab and tomato soup(made with bourbon and sherry) — yum — at $ 10 a bowl(very smokey). Split«The Original» 10 inch thin crust pizza(chicken, pesto, mozzarella, provolone, peppers) — yum — at $ 13. Service was great!

Beautiful location, lovely views. I had such high hopes. Service was terribly slow, and though the wait staff was friendly she was clearly over tasked(performing bartender duties as well). We had a large party(divided into three checks) and ordered 2 mojitos and a speciality drink the name of which I can’t recall. I excepted refreshing, light summertime drinks but instead we were served drinks that tasted like shots. Our meals arrived at different times, despite having been ordered together. My family was nearly finished eating before the final meal was brought to the table. All told, this was a two hour dining experience. We had two entrees and three children’s meals and spent $ 110-the food quality did not justify that cost. This was neighborhood bar and grill at a very high end prices. This place could really be great. Staff needs lots of training, and the quality of the food needs to be reflected in the price point.

We came here for lunch after visiting Roanoke festival park. It’s a great little spot with fantastic water views. The lavender lemonade was very refreshing after wandering around in the heat at Festival Park. The fingerling potato fries that my husband ordered were out of this world. Amber our waitress was such a gem. We really enjoyed chatting with her!
