Taqueria La Estrella

Bought nachos and ask to be put in separate containers… Got home and this is the mess I got, they heated all together in microwave. No chips and salsa or rice. They offer led new good but since this is second time they did this I told them I won’t be back. How hard is it to make nachos I’ve gotten better at Taco Bell!

If I could give a zero I would. Back when I was in high school this place was the best. It seems now that they expanded and became a little more busy the quality has gone way down. There’s nothing special about this place anymore. Food is flavorless and sloppy. Most of the employees are also very irritated and rude. I feel bad for giving a bad review but this is the last time I am eating here and I do not recommend.

Excellent food most days. Smiling happy employees at the drive thru always. The grilled chicken tacos (or grilled chicken anything for that matter) are to die for. Breakfast burritos are addicting. The rice is very flavorful. The wait times are sometimes a little long but it’s totally worth the wait. There are inconsistencies between chefs. Sometimes the breakfast burrito will have potatoes and sometimes they won’t. Not a big deal as I prefer no potatoes, extra rice. Also some days the tacos will be made with red sauce and some days green. Overall, a great place to eat and the only Mexican food restaurant in town with a drive thru! (taco bell and del taco don’t count)

NEGATIVE STARS ! Tonight when I went here the woman (they said her name was amber) messed up my order & caught an attitude & threw my burrito at me, I asked for the owner & they told me they didn’t know him or his number, if this is the kinda customer service treatment they give people this place is HORRIBLE AS HELL ! I’m highly pissed off. I will never ever come back to this place ever again ! To throw something at me that I paid for is rude as hell ! She was rude the whole entire time from the time she took my order to the time she gave it to me.

My usual Taqueria test today — busy Friday lunch time. Much nicer inside than your normal taqueria– very clean and friendly staff. Well above average salsa bar — love grilled jalapeños! Busy so tacos weren’t out super fast but fast enough. They have a drive thru line (very unusual for our local taquerias) that probably would have been faster but wanted to go inside and relax.
Had my ususal four tacos — 2 lengua and 2 pastor — very happy with both. Lengua had good flavor and nice and tender. Pastor had really good flavor but a few unexpected tough pieces (thus just four stars today).

This is everything a taquiera should be. The Carne asada burrito is the best around. They don’t skimp out on anything.

Unilocal needs to allow you to rate places a ZERO.
I’m not big on giving bad reviews, rarely do. Especially, being a Latino establishment, I’ve tried to support La Estrella over drive thru anything else when hungry & in a hurry or sick & wanting convenience. Loyalty doesn’t pay here. GO ELSEWHERE!
Besides the hits or misses in the past. Today was the worst.
Drive thru:
Disorganized & not very friendly but merely passing
Wait was too long for bad food & wrong order. Understanding why the wait was so long since «Freddy» (according to receipt) asked if I had the 2 orders of menudo & something else; No, wrong. Then the chorizo breakfast burrito with no rice; again, no, wrong. He closes the window & a minute later finds my order. I pay $ 15.12 for two breakfast burritos with sour cream added (for an additional .99 cents each), chips «included».
Food:
Chips– Cold & greasy. Being «free». I really didn’t care, but glad I didn’t order nachos
First burrito– Breakfast Burrito de Chorizo, add sour cream… for .99!
(As per menu Beans, Rice, Potato, Egg in a Flour Tortilla with choices that included Chorizo & Bacon, which we chose)
Burrito was marked «chorizo», this is the ONLY positive. There was a random large piece of raw onion, a FEW pieces I spit out that later I figured was RAW RICE (WTF!?), no potatoes at all & no sour cream, which I was charged extra for.
Second burrito– Breakfast Burrito de Tocino (Bacon), add sour cream.
I only cut this in half being that it was my daughter’s. However, did not see & when asked it was confirmed, No potatoes nor was there the extra charged sour cream. Now the biggest problem for me: the burrito was wrapped to where the foil was partially folded INSIDE the burrito. Seriously? What TAQUERIA doesn’t know how to wrap a damn burrito?! What a joke.
Overall. This is the 3^rd BAD EXPERIENCE with food AND service. In the past I’ve called to inform about issues without wanting refund, like I see other Unilocalers have done. The manager, in the past, was apologetic & kind. Today, I have decided that even if I called to complain I will not drive out of my way for the refund, nor would an unexpected apology stop my stomach from turning. Completely unacceptable.
Btw, to the restaurant, if you even care. You spelt «Taqueria» wrong on your receipt, as well as «call». Dang. All bad.

they have the best AL pastor!!! anything u get here is delicious, but they also have the Asada fries which are had to come by and great comfort food. drive thru is open late, everything is fresh from the food to the drinks

Normally when we eat here 1 or 2 a month… Everything is pretty good, food, customer service when we eat in. Today was drive thru, they forgot to give us our drink, (understandable, it happens) but, I called to let them know and that I’m going to come back. Her answer was «that’s fine.» Hmm… That was the girl on the phone so I let it slide… Then we’re back in the drive thru, told us back for the drink, again «that’s fine.» Now we’re at the window. No sorry, no words, didn’t even make eye contact, no acknowledgment… NOTHING… upsetting… We have a baby in the car, couldn’t come in, finished our food before we got the drink, but it would have been nice if they said sorry at least once, (common courtesy)… Sigh…

My husband and I used to go to this Taqueria frequently since it opened and the food has been very hit and miss. Tonight we spent almost $ 30 on our meal and were so beyond disappointed that I felt I had to write a review because I honestly could barely eat my meal and my husband actually spit his out. The rice was swimming in orange grease and tasted so fishy, beans were ice cold and my carnitas burrito had absolutely no flavor aside from tasted like charred meat. There are so many taquerias in Manteca and we will be going elsewhere from now on. Highly disappointed!

We go once in while to get burritos, and they are always amazing. Grilled chicken is our favorite. Recently we tried steak super nachos and wow. it’s hard for us to go back to that amazing burrito be a use the nachos are even better!

Found a fly in my food awhile back, couldn’t eat after that. But prior to that food wasn’t to bad.

We had carne asada tacos, chile verde tacos, and a carnitas burrito. Both types of tacos were very good. I liked the asada more than the chile verde. Unlike some other places the asada was cut uniformly into small tender tasty bites. It was Not full of fat, just tender juicy meat.
The carnitas burrito was soft and juicy. Again the meat was tender and not dry at all. It was served with a spicy sauce on the side so you can make your own wet burrito. The sauce had just the right amount of kick to it.
The salsa bar is huge and there is something for everyone. The only criticism I have is that the radishes and limes were not the freshest.
This place is clean. Much cleaner than the other La Estrella on Yosemite where I was afraid to put my daughter in the high chair for fear she’s get stuck to the goo and we wouldn’t be able to get her out.
This is a typical taqueria where you order at the counter and they bring you your food. The difference here is that the staff actually came out to check on us several times. They were super friendly and attentive. We’ll be back.

My favorite taqueria! There’s no shortage of Mexican food options in the central valley, yet this place still manages to rise over the competition. Every single dish I’ve tasted here has been incredible including breakfast and the portions are large enough to fill the biggest hungriest person. The horchata is the best I’ve had and the salsa bar does not disappoint. One of my favorite lunches is to come down here and eat while watching bandamax.

This place has gotten wayyyy too much of my money! So delicious. The best in Manteca that’s for sure. It’s always so nice and clean and I’ve never been disappointed with the food!

Driving on south 99 approaching Manteca Lathrop exit, I Unilocaled for food. This place popped up. I wish I had taken a photo of the food. I ordered Machaca and eggs and a bottled water. Handed the girl $ 6, got change back and a bowl of chips. Their salsa bar was impressive to say the least. A massive variety of condiments. You can see the grill from where I sat in the dining room. When my plate arrived, it was more like a platter, you could clearly see there was enough for two. There was fresh lettuce and tomato with crème’ and guacamole, rice, refried beans with queso fresco, five corn tortillas and a HUGE portion of machaca con huavos. Staff were friendly, and the place was very clean.

So after a long night of Little League Baseball, my family was hungry and it was 11:00pm. Before heading back to the hotel, we decided to drive up main street in search of good eats. After passing a few late night burger chains we stumbled upon this Taqueria. We ordered 3 huge bean and cheese burritos, a Carne Asada tostada, and an order of pancakes.
1. The service was superb! After I told him we were staying at a hotel, he offered utensils, chips, and all the salsas! Great job.
2. The food was prepared as we requested and was delicious. The beans were very homemade and when paired with the white jack cheese, it rocked the burrito. The carne asada was very tasty and there was plenty. The pancakes were made to order and served hot with syrup.
Overall a great experience and even greater that the drive thru was open so late. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely return for another meal!!!

Came here around 8pm with my boss and 8 coworkers, and although the restaurant was filled with families the employees were kind enough to help merge tables for our large group and patient on our orders. Within 3 minutes our food was served! Unlike most Mexican/​Spanish themed restaurants this place had their own «salad bar» where you can grab however amount of salsa, guacamole, etc. for yourself and not having to worry about the employees giving you a stink-​eye. The food tasted great, but the noise level was a bit annoying. Next time I’ll definitely just stop by through the drive-​thru.
