Ah waffle house. Nothing else says the south quite like a waffle. I come here once a year to keep myself grounded. $ 150 meal one day to $ 6.49 another. I actually enjoy it. Waffle houses are mostly all the same. Older trailer park employees(nothing wrong with that) just trying to make it by, serving up some basic fair. My suggestion: if you feel like dropping in have your hash browns covered, smothered, and peppered(onion, cheese, and jalapeños) Make sure to add chocolate chips your waffle to complete your dive into southern humbleness.

This location needs a lot of things. 1) proper etiquette for the waiters/waitresses. They tend to not check on your food and don’t seem to care if you’re waiting forever. 2) Cleaniness. The equipment, floor, drink machines were nasty. 3) a system for filling orders. Our food was brought out in parts. Toast, eggs, grits and waffles out… waiting 20 more minutes for the bacon. Customers should not have to wait and have their food get cold because of waiting on EVERYTHING that was ordered. I like Waffle House but I don’t think I will visit this location again.

Waffle House is one of my favorite places to eat. This location really needs more training and needs to cook the food as it looks in the picture… they really tend to make waffles and hash browns very dark, inedible, and when the customer orders hash browns in a ring, make it in a ring, not scattered… I will drive and extra 20 miles to Ft. Worth before eating at this location…

Seems like once you start getting into the Waco and Dallas /Fort Worth area, Waffle House is a lot more popular than down in Southern, East and Central Texas. We stopped by this location in Mansfield late Sunday just for some coffee for the road yet stayed and chatted a bit with the owners and a customer. This chain is over 50 years old and while I have only been to a few before, and this was my wife’s first time in a «pancake restaurant» in America, we found here what I suspect is typical of these locations. Friendly folks. And a juke box which also seems to be a popular restaurant item in this part of Texas. The coffee was fine as I was only drinking it for the caffeine and when I noted to my wife that it was a little watery(she’s a coffee expert) she said that it was«typical American coffee». We would absolutely stop and eat here when in the area and if hungry at that time. The coffee was good and the atmosphere was warm and homey. It also seems like the people up here are more friendly in general. Perhaps it’s due to being so far from Houston. :)
