I have only been here a couple of times, and will not be coming back. The service was great upon entering the place, and the owner seemed very friendly. However, it pretty much went downhill from there. This wasnt a big deal to me, but the menu selection was confusing. I was looking at a menu at one of the tables, but when I went up to the counter to order, I was shown a different menu. I asked why the menu was different and was told that the menu I had read was an old menu, and that they had forgot to put the new ones out, which she had started doing after I said something about it. I sat down and waited for my food. It took longer than I was expecting. Normal places I have been only take about 5 to 10 minutes at most for a gyro, but this place took over twice that amount of time. When I had finally received my food, it looked good and smelled good. Hopefully it was worth the wait. I took a bite of was of the fries that came as a side to the gyro I ordered. The fries were alright, but were very greasy and kind of warm. Not the kind of warm that a fresh made item had, more like a «under the heat lamp all day» item. I took a bite into the gyro, and was a little taken aback of how much of this gyro had no flavor. I looked on the inside to find only a couple pieces of gyro meat, and barely any type of dressings or sauces. I took a piece of the gyro meat out and bit into it, I instantly spit it out. The meat was not only cold, but was a bit dry and rubbery. I only continued eating about half the fries before I started feeling a little queasy from eating the food. After I had finished my meal, the owner came over and asked me how everything was. I told her that the gyro was good but the plate of uneaten food said otherwise. About a few minutes later I paid for the food which came out to be around $ 9.00. A little more expensive than I had thought for under-cooked food, but it’s not the absolute worst I have had. Since I was paying in cash, she thought I would’ve left a tip. I paid for my meal but decided not to leave a tip. As I begin to walk towards the door I started getting rudely told that I should leave a tip for the meal I was served. I turned around and told her that the food was terrible, and that I could guarantee that if she ate it she would be sick too. I ended up getting yelled at in a language I didn’t understand, and decided to just walk out, waving her off out the door. This place is more here for the looks and not the food. I have also heard a rumor recently that she has decided to possibly sell the store due to a «Lack of business». I hope whoever owns this place next either turns it around or into something different and better.

I don’t like to give bad reviews especially to small local businesses. However, this was just not good. I called and placed a Togo order for a chicken shawarma and cheese pockets with a side of taziki sauce. After I told him my order he said«okay bye» and didn’t even tell me a total price or a time frame in which my order would be ready. I dismissed it and went to get my food. When I picked up my order I went to pay for it and my food was $ 14.27 and I gave the boy $ 20.27. He looked at me for a second and asked if I wanted my change, I said yes. He then asked me why I gave him the .27 cents so I had to explain to him the math to get $ 6 back. I finally get my food and the fries were soggy and flavorless. The chicken was dry and overcooked the bread was hard and the cheese pockets had been microwaved so the dough was so hard you couldn’t even bite into them. I was also charged for extra sauce that might have made the sandwich more edible but I never even got it. Overall this was an awkward and far from tasty experience. I love greek food and I just expected and hoped for a lot more.

This is the first and last time we will eat here. The chicken shawarma over cooked and dried out, not edible. The gyro meat was dried out and cut in chunks(normally slivers). The cashier was inexperienced, asked if the bag of food was all ours and over charged us, and didn’t know how to refund. We were willing to overlook all that until we opened the boxes of food. If we lived closer, I would have brought the food back and demanded a refund. So disappointing.

I, too, don’t like to give a negative review to a small local business, but even two stars is being generous. First of all, despite the name, the place is Middle Eastern(probably Lebanese) rather than Greek. It’s also pretty bad. My large Greek salad was the same size as my friend’s small side salad. It had a generous amount of feta, but sliced black olives rather than kalamatas. The dressing looked and tasted like plain oil with a very slight sprinkle of pepper. Both the gyro meat and the chicken schwarma were dry. To top it off, the dishes came out one at a time, about 10 minutes apart. I doubt the place will last long.

The food is the worth I ever had! I ordered the chicken Shawarma, the chicken was dry and reheated couple of times. The onions were huge chunks. Save your money and avoid this place.

I am so terribly sad to say this place has gone downhill. I really think their may have been a change in ownership. Either way, what was once the best baba ganoush I ever had is now flavorless and quite odd in textures. All the food is pre cooked and tossed into a microwave upon order now. Why??? I always hate to complain about service because you never know what that server faced that day and everyone deserves a second chance. In this case however the waitress brought by CC slip back and waited, at the table, for me to fill in the tip portion! Yes, she stood and stared at my hand until I was done. I’m so sorry about this review because I really love to see a small business succeed and this place is not headed there.

I am disappointed — only one person to serve, prep and cook — no Beef — probably will not come back — just not what you expect at any restaurant — she is really trying — but, this is not good!!!

I don’t have much to add that anybody else hasn’t said, but I’m throwing in my vote. Both times I’ve been here my gyro was hot and fresh and I had no complaints about it. My hummus was delicious but the pitas were just sliced pita out of a bag. The dessert was just ok. This seems like a small family business that’s trying to make it so I don’t want to rank them badly and honestly — I enjoyed my food but other than the hummus it was just ok and I will almost certainly be back because it was ok. I don’t need fantastic for each meal if it’s clean and hot. Everyone was nice. It’s fairly convenient but I’m going to try the gyro place on sublett next time.

Oh if only Unilocal would let me give zero stars. As a previous reviewer said, this place has really gone downhill. And then some. Our waitress was awesome. It was only her second day on the job but she was super nice and very helpful. That’s where the positives with this restaurant ended. We were sitting right by the kitchen so I saw everything we ordered go straight into the microwave. Nothing was freshly made. Microwaved gyro meat is not very appetizing. My husband ordered the chicken shawarma dinner and asked for tahini sauce instead of the garlic sauce that used to come with the dinner. The other waitress stomps over and pretty much tells us we’re stupid and sauce only comes with the sandwich not the dinner. After we got that worked out she stomps back to her grandma and dad(the cooks) and loudly tells them, in Arabic, that we don’t know what we want but she thinks this is what we want. Oh yes — I do speak Arabic fluently ma’am — thank you very much. Our food comes out and it was all completely wrong. My gyro was squishy and greasy and bland. My husbands shawarma was so dry and had no flavor. Whatever, we paid. And I always tip in cash so the credit card receipt had zero on the tip line because I wanted to make sure our waitress got the tip she deserved. When the grumpy waitress dropped off our check I said thank you and Arabic and the look on her face was priceless! She saw that I signed the slip and was about to leave and she comes over«are you done?» Yes ma’am we are. She grabs the receipt looks at it sees no tip and immediately tells the grandma we didn’t leave a tip. The grandma goes up to our waitress who is currently helping another table out and says loudly«THEYLEFTYOUNOTIP. SEE!» I get up, walk over to our waitress, hand her HER tip and say«this is for YOU!» Yes grandma I’m not leaving your rude face a tip. NEVEREVERAGAINWILL I VISITTHISPLACE. awful food and even worse rude service. If you feel like good Mediterranean go to the highlands or to prince in north Arlington. Worth the drive to not be treated like trash.

This place… it kills me to do bad reviews for small businesses but I have to. GOOD — 1.) The food came out quick(because it was all pre-done) 2.) The hummus was taste(nice a garlicy) BAD — Sooo DRY. The food was as dry as a desert. The pita bread was more like a unlevened bread. It even scratched my throat as I chewed through it. The gyro was not good. Bland. No real flavor to it or the sauce. And also so dry. Even though I was dine in it came wrapped up in foil(it wasn’t even wrapped up correctly) It’s seat yourself even thought they have a waiter. So it’s kind of aqward when you walk in. The waiter seemed like he didn’t want to be there and like he was working in a mcdonalds. At the end of eating he asked me if I was paying cash or card… then told me there credit card machine was malfunctioning and proceeded to ask me what tip to put on the card. Again aqward. Most places I give two chances. But I don’t think I will here. I wrote this while waiting on my check… Just get me out of here.

By far the WORST Mediterranean/middle eastern food I have ever eaten in over 32 years. I ordered the chicken Schwarma dinner with hummus and babaganoush. Chicken Schwarma typically has a very robust and flavorful, even spicy flavor. Greek Café’s tastes like plain boiled chicken with lemon juice. The hummus tastes like mayonnaise. The pita bread was stale — hard and thin. Greek Café’s baba was the best thing I had and it was mediocre at best. I will never return to this restaurant.

Update: it just isn’t the same anymore. Went on a Thursday around 6. It was extremely hot in the place(not good on a 100 degree day). The waiter didn’t seem very eager to sit us. The cook was wearing cooking gloves and was handling food and then picked up the phone with the same gloves and then handled food again. Yuck. The hummus is still very good but the pita wasn’t fresh. I wanted the chicken schwarma but they were out and relented on beef schwarma at the waiters recommendation. When it came out it was a mix of beef and lamb. The lamb was extremely fatty and the beef was basically beef jerky. It wasn’t the same experience as previous times I’ve been. I’ll give them another shot in hopes it was a bad day for then. One plus is the rice is better than it was before. It’s yellow rice now but much more moist and has good flavor. The fries are still really good.

Best babaganoush in DFW… best I’ve ever had. Our family loves Greek/Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food so we’ve been to many of such restaurants in the DFW area so I can say that it’s the best with confidence. Everything we’ve had here has either been good or great. We almost always come in and get the mixed vegetarian appetizers tray and one entrée and it’s more than enough food for 3 people with leftovers. My favorite things on the menu are their chicken kebab(very tender and great flavor), chicken shawarma(one of the best shawarma sauces I’ve tasted), very fresh salads, and their falafel but honestly everything has been good. The service is hit and miss in terms of speed and skill but the employees are always very, very nice. It’s BYOB so the meal ends up being incredibly affordable. Definitely would recommend and please, please go here if you like babaganoush at all… it will change your life.

The food here has really gone downhill since they changed owners or management — whichever happened. And the wait… oh my. Went in there to order lunch to go. One cook and one server. The server was having to explain every.little.thing to the cook. Like, literally, pointing to the tickets and explaining each thing. Because of her frustration overall, she was terse with customers. Another guy finally came out from the back but disappeared after the server told him she needed change in the register. I sat down to wait after ordering.(It’s super awkward because they changed to a seated service but the counter is still there and there is no one to seat you. It’s not clear how to order to go.) The server continued to race around like crazy and almost yell at the cook, the other guy came back out to help cook. A three-top came in and ordered and received their order(from the second cook) while the first cook continued to futz around with my order. By the way, my order involved very little actual cooking. It was two sandwiches, plus hummus and shawarma and some dolmas. Finally, I paid and was told we’d been given free bread(like, she made a big deal out of that). Whoopee doo. Got home(two miles away). The dolmas were inedible. They were hard and almost crunchy. I have never had such horrible dolmas. The hummus was fine — the chicken lacked flavor and wasn’t moist. The sandwiches were«meh». Too bad. We love this kind of food, and love supporting small businesses. We won’t be back anytime soon because today’s lunch was a waste of time and a waste of money.

Kaisee was our server. She was attentive & accurate. My better half got beef shawarma gyro. The beef was a little tough to her. I thought it was tasty. I got lamb kabob which was wonderful. We sampled the hummus –great– and Greek salad & rice. Really good.

So, funny story. We were trying to decide where to have lunch and I thought Beirut Rock(Arlington) would be nice, but it’s the opposite direction from our house than the meat market in Mansfield we wanted to stop by. So we figured we’d try this place instead, since it’s only a couple miles from the meat market. Lo and behold, not one of the 30 previous reviews had mentioned that this place is clearly owned by the same people as Beirut Rock. Same menu, same food. Which is a good thing, because I love Beirut Rock! This place is smaller, but less crowded, and has a much easier parking lot to deal with. The food and prices are the same. We had chicken schwarma sandwiches w/rice, and a hummus with lamb. All tasted just like they do in Arlington. But this makes me wonder… why do they call it Greek Café? Do they think people in Mansfield would be afraid to eat Lebanese? Did they miss a day of geography class? How can the same exact food be Greek in Mansfield and Lebanese in Arlington. Oh, the confusion?! But regardless, it’s great stuff and it’s very inexpensive. It kicks RAZ(the place across the street) in the tuchas, to the point that I don’t understand why anyone would pick RAZ over this place. Unless it’s just on service, because I do have to admit our server today seemed a little bit out of it. But, our food came fast and fresh so I can live with that. We may start coming here more than BRC mainly because it’s a straight shot on the freeway vs. a zig-zag through town.

What a find! This small, totally legit Greek/Med restaurant sits in the corner of the Tom Thumb plaza, along the Country Club Ln side and facing that road. You walk in and are greeted by a nice big menu board listing the items, the platters(combos), their meats and everything else. You kind-of build your own plate here and they’ll price to match. Meats offered are Gyro(what we had and it friggin rocked!), Beef/Chicken kabob, Beef/Chicken Shawarma, Falafel, Tilapia and I even saw a leg-of-lamb on the warming table. The sides are presented behind the glass counter so you see what’s available. I had the roasted(either yellow squash or zucchini) veg and it was lovely. My wife opted for a side-salad(Greek salad) and that looked wonderful. She mentioned that this salad would now be a crave-worthy for her, so this means future trips to GC(YAY!) Pita was quartered and placed on our table(with no hummus which would have been nice) and was very thin and warm. I didn’t sample any as I had ordered a Gyro for lunch. No pita-overkill for this cowboy. The service was very friendly, laid back and attentive. Even though it was counter/self service, we got a visit or 2 to make sure everything was alright. The restaurant has booth-seating along the walls and small tables in between. Everything was very clean and organized to the point where you could tell you weren’t in a chain restaurant but you could also tell the owners cared about presentation. I can’t wait to go back and get one of those salads on. Oh, and gyro meat? Heavenly. Gyro meat is normally a blend of beef + lamb which is stacked, cooked on a rotisserie-like device and then sliced thin on a vertical bias. Not sure what blend this meat was but it almost had a grilled aroma/taste which is a total win in my book. As far as Mansfield’s foray into the Greek/Med food-spaces goes, this one is a legit contender.
