M & C Construction

Christian built a deck for my house as a subcontractor. He first struck me as very sweet, attentive, and nice. He works hard and fast. However, I also believe that he either doesn’t know or won’t admit to the limits of his own competence, and at times is irresponsible.
He built the deck’s footing right on top of a pipe (see photo). That pipe developed a slow water leak that added several hundred dollars to my water bill. He says he didn’t see it, but I’m skeptical based on the photo.
Another example: The sealant manufacturer emphasized that the deck must be wiped dry shortly after application — otherwise it will turn sticky and become black over time and be very difficult to fix. But Christian just left after pouring it on. I had to call him to come back to dry it.
Another example: I discovered that he had cut some screws down to the board’s surface level rather than replace the board. Presumably when the board shrinks, those protruding pieces of metal would become hazards, so I insisted that he replace the board.
Another example: Rather than replace some broken siding, as he had said he would do, he instead filled the 2 inch diameter hole with putty, and didn’t even bother to paint it. A siding expert told me that Christian’s repair would fail in a few years, and that the siding board needs to be replaced.
Until I paid Christian most of what I owed him, he tried to please me. But after he was mostly paid, he became very difficult to reach.
In general, getting him to finish felt like pulling teeth. A project that should have taken one week dragged on for months. See my photo of how part of the deck looked seven weeks after it was supposed to be finished. The white stuff splattered on the deck and wall is a chemical that he was using.
I like my finished deck, but I’m not happy with how hard I had to work to get it completed. It was too much time and headache. I was very disappointed, because I think with some changes of attitude Christian could be a great contractor.

Christian and his team are working on my house right now and can’t say enough about their ability and timliness in working through their projects. Every aspect of their job has been great. The prices are more than fair and the results look like a million bucks. I’ve had a lot of collaboration with christian and he has always been attentive and creative in how I’ve reached my design goals. Initially paid for materials and have dolled out percentages as work milestones were completed so he could pay his team and buy more materials. Christian and his team are trustworthy and skilled workers. I’m already thinking of how I can use him next.

BEWARE!!! This guy started off with the work, as soon as we paid him, him and his crew didn’t show up next day. Left all the trash in our garage and back yard. ½ the work unfinished. I called him so many times and texted him so many times, no response. Now looking for another contractor to finish the work and the work that should have been finished in 3 weeks will be 3 months:-(I am extremely disappointed in this company and Christian.

Christian and his crew are fast, detail oriented and trust worthy. They have been working on our house for about a month now doing a ton of rehab. New bathrooms, painting, installing fixtures.etc. You name it they can do it all and at a great price. I mean they installed a door and window for $ 400! Amazing and Christian will work with you on any budget. Call him today for any home renovation needs. I will be posting photos of all the work they’ve done in the next week. I simply can’t say enough great things about this crew.

Christian from M&C pretty much exceeded my expectations. He was recommended to me by the guy I normally use for my construction needs. I wasn’t to sure what to expect since he had never done any work for me, and when I can’t get my regular guys I usually go to Angie’s list.
M&C renovated two of my bathrooms and they look amazing. After the work they did at my home, I had them do some commercial work for me… nice, nice, nice. The only bad thing I have to add is that now I’m sticking with Christian instead of my regular guys… sorry, but his pricing is much better and so is his work.
